Chapter Twelve

Uncharted Territory

We are back to Adrian's point of view!

Adrian's POV

I hurried into my room, not really wanting to witness what was going to happen between Alice and Blake. Hearing Marcus's footsteps behind me I left my door open and went to sit on my bed.

I'm so confused, why the hell does Blake still want me back. He has Kieth, who obviously loves him. I thought.

I was pulled out of my trance when I felt the bed sink next to me. I glanced over and Marcus was sitting right next to me, his cheeks were dusted with a very light shade of pink. And I was instantly confused. Why is he blushing, I thought.

"Marcus?" I asked.

He looked at me and hummed in response, letting me know that I could go on.

"I'm...I'm really sorry that you were pulled into all of this crap with Blake." I looked down at my lap, playing with my fingers.

"You don't need to apologize, Adrian. It's not your fault."

"I decided to be your friend, I put myself into this."

We sat in silence for a few minutes, I looked up when I heard the front door slam shut then Alice's heavy footsteps headed towards us. I watched as Alice popped her head into the room, our eyes locked and then she silently left the room, closing the door leaving Marcus and I alone in our thoughts.

"Marcus..." I started, "You can move out of you want...actually I should probably move back in with Alice and her sister." I looked at Marcus and saw him staring at me. "That would probably be much better for you."

"I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong."

"What?"

"I'd agree with-" I cut him off.

"No I heard you, but why did you say that?"

"Because, even if you moved out and went to live with Alice," Marcus explained, "I would still be your friend and I would still hang out with you. Blake would still see us hanging out."

I felt myself tear up and the tears were soon flowing freely down my face. I sniffled and felt Marcus jolt next to me. I looked up and saw that he was looking at me with wide eyes. I gave a small smile, trying to reassure him that I was okay. But I wasn't, the tears were flowing faster now.

Marcus reached out and wrapped his arms around me, pulling me into a tight hug. I gripped his shirt and buried my face in his shoulder.

Just then, Alice barged in the room, shouting, "SOMEONE JUST CRAWLED THROUGH THE WINDOW!"

Marcus and I sprung apart and jumped off the bed. We all ran to the living room and saw someone sitting on the couch, casually flipping through a magazine.

"WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT DO YOU WANT." Alice yelled.

"Whoa chill lady, I didn't know Marcus had a girlfriend." The guy on the couch said as he held his hands up in surrender.

We all turned to look at Marcus, "Care to explain?" Alice asked.

Marcus sighed, "This is my best friend, Luke. Luke, these are my friends Adrian and Alice." Marcus introduced as he scratched the back of his neck.

"Aanndd does he just casually climb through your window all the time?" I asked with a chuckle. Marcus looked at me with a concerned expression, "I'm fine now." I added, giving him a convincing smile.

Alice and I locked eyes and she wiggled her eyebrows at me. I glared at her and turned back to Marcus and Luke.

"To answer your question," Luke said, "Yes. I do usually climb through his window."

Marcus went and sat down next to Luke and Alice made herself comfortable sitting next to Marcus on the couch that was not meant for three.

I awkwardly stood there shuffling my feet, then I made my way to the end of the couch, I had planned to sit on the floor and lean against the arm of the couch but Alice pulled me down by my arm and I fell onto Marcus's lap.

"Alice!" I scolded as I tried to climb off Marcus only to be pushed back down by Luke. "LUKE!" I said loudly.

Luke gets along with all of us, especially Alice, I thought small scowl. I tried a second time to get up, but was pushed back down. By both Alice AND Luke. I groaned and decided to just relax. As I did, Marcus put one hand on my hip and another on my stomach. I jumped and heard-and felt-him chuckle. I looked at Alice and saw that she was beaming, but it wasn't directed at me. Turning my head I looked at Luke, he was beaming back at Alice. When he saw me looking, he wiggles his eyebrows just like Alice did and winked at me. I blushed and glared at him.

"Why do I have to sit like this." I whined as I squirmed in Marcus's lap.

His grip on my hip tightened, "Adrian," Marcus whispered in my ear, "Stop wiggling."

I immediately stopped squirming and felt my cheeks get redder than they already were.

"So Marcus," said Luke, "Anyone you're crushing on lately?"

I felt Marcus flinch, "Dude, we never talk about this stuff."

"Oh well, I guess we're starting now." Luke said in a sing-song voice.

"No, we aren't." Marcus said in a strong voice.

"Alright, fine."

"How about you, Adrian?" Alice asked.

My head snapped towards her and I gave her a death glare. "No."

Alice laughed, "Yeah right. It's soooo obvious, I already know who it is." She boasted.

"Shut up, Alice. I don't want to talk about this right now, especially not with Luke. I don't even know him!" I absentmindedly played with Marcus's fingers, taking his hand off my stomach.

This is nice, I thought, I'm so comfortable. Even with Luke around.

I started humming to myself, not really listening to want the others were saying. I eventually felt myself falling asleep, with my eyes constantly skittering from open to closed, I turned sideways and put my feet on Alice's legs, snuggling my head into Marcus's chest as I gripped his shirt. As I fell asleep, the last thing running through my head was 'I wish I could fall asleep like this every night.'
