Chapter Sixteen
Uncharted Territory
Adrian's POV
Mentally, I was awake; but physically, I didn't want to open my eyes. I was worried that what happened last night had all been in my head, that it had all been a dream, and I didn't want to have to face that reality.
I was too engrossed in my own thoughts that I jumped when I heard Marcus whisper, "Adrian, I know you're awake, I can see you scrunching up your nose."
I slowly opened my eyes and was face to face...scratch that...NOSE TO NOSE with Marcus. Looking into his eyes, I could see that they were sparkling with happiness.
"So that wasn't a dream," I whispered slowly.
"No, it wasn't a dream," Marcus replied with a content smile.
I thought about it and, "So does that mean I can do this?" I stretched up and kissed his nose.
God, I thought, I've wanted to do that for so long.
Marcus chuckled and his muscular chest rumbled,"Yes, it means you can do that, as often as you want."
We just laid there for a while before I realized that I had to go t the bathroom. His arms were still around my waist, so I had to ask him to let go, much to my embarrassment.
"Marcus, can you let me go?"
"Why?" He said in a gruff voice.
I involuntarily shivered, "I have to go to the bathroom."
He sighed, but I felt his grip on me loosen and I slipped from his grasp, hurrying to the bathroom.
When I came back from the bathroom I saw everyone was gathered in the kitchen, and that Alice and Luke were trying to make us breakfast. I walked over to Marcus and wrapped my arms around his torso, I knew I was too short to reach his shoulders so I settled with resting my head on his back. I felt him chuckle again as he detached my arms from him. He turned around to face me and I pouted. He just shook his head and made his way behind me, he then proceeded to wrap his arms around me and rested his head on mine.
"See," He said, "Doesn't that work better? The taller person holding the shorter one?"
I looked up at him with a shy smile, "Yes it does."
BANG...CRASH
Marcus and I instantly look towards Alice and Luke, only to see that they were both covered in pancake mix and that the bowl was on the floor.
"Alice!" I called out, at the same time as Marcus said, "Luke!"
They both slowly turned to look at us, Alice fell to her knees and Luke followed suit.
"I'm so sorry, Adrian, I didn't mean to!" She cried, folding her hands together and rocking back and forth on her knees.
"Marcus! I'm so sorry! I'll clean it up right away!" Luke said loudly, doing the same actions as Alice.
I covered my mouth to stop a laugh from bursting out, "Guys, you better clean this up as soon as possible, and make sure you get every little corner, I don't want to find ANY pancake batter ANYWHERE in this kitchen," I said, shaking my head and pointing at each of them in turn. "Do I make myself clear?"
Alice nodded vigorously, and Luke stood up and started wiping the counter, Alice soon doing the same.
Rolling my eyes, I made my way to my room. I glanced behind me and saw that Marcus was following close at my heels. I turned around and ended up chest to chest with him. He smiled down at me and I gave him my sweetest smile. Rising up to my tiptoes I pretended that I was going to kiss him, I watched as his eyes widened in anticipation, then I spun around and sprinted to my room. Quickly closing and locking the door behind me.
Marcus pounded on the door, "ADRIAN YOU LITTLE TEASE!" He yelled through the door. I laughed loudly and yelled back, "BUT YOU LIKE ME ANYWAY!"
He suddenly stopped pounding, "You're right, I like you anyway."
I opened the door a few inches and peeked out, Marcus was standing on the other side smiling at me. I smiled back but didn't open the door any wider. "I'm gonna get dressed," I announced.
He chuckled, "Alright, I should probably do that too." He leaned down and kissed my nose that was sticking through the crack of the door. I blushed and closed the door in his face, I could hear him laughing as he made his way to his room.
I went to my bathroom and took a quick shower. After my shower I just threw on whatever clothes were clean, I honestly didn't care about my appearance today. Remembering what I did to Marcus, I slowly opened my door. When he wasn't standing on the other side I exited my room and quickly made my way to the kitchen. When I got there I made sure I was facing the open so Marcus couldn't sneak up behind me.
"Why do you look so paranoid," Luke asked as he leaned against the counter twirling a dirty rag.
"I'm afraid Marcus will attack me." I answered.
"Why?" Alice asked as she slacked off, "What did you do?"
"I don't need to answer to the likes of you," I glared at them, "And why aren't you cleaning? The pancake mix isn't going to clean itself." I crossed my arms and stared them down.
I watched as Alice poked Luke, "better get to work," she whispered, "I don't think you want to make Adrian too mad."
He nodded and went back to wiping the floor.
As I was staring them down to get back to work I didn't notice Marcus sneak up beside me until he put his arms around me and kissed my forehead. I looked up at him and smiled a shy smile, then I continued to order Alice and Luke around like a drill Sargent.
