Chapter Two
Uncharted Territory
I watched as Marcus kept mumbling to himself, his hands still over his eyes. His hair was perfect, so was his face, and so was everything about him. He is just so perfect, I thought. I was too busy admiring Marcus to notice that the movie had started, he didn't seem to notice either, too lost in his thoughts.
I gently placed my hand on his shoulder, "Marcus," I whispered, "The movie started."
He moved his hands and grinned sheepishly at me, his cheeks red again. I took my hand off his shoulder and grinned back. Marcus turned to watch the movie and I did the same.
About a quarter way through the movie I felt Marcus's strong hand grip my arm, I looked at him in surprise. His eyes were wide and he was completely pulled into the movie. There was a jump scare on the screen and we both jumped, Marcus let out a little squeak and he let go of my arm only to grab my hand and intertwine our fingers together. It was safe to say that I could no longer focus on the movie. I could feel that my face was flushed and my heart was beating out of my chest. He has no idea what he's doing to me, I thought. His grip tightened on my hand and I felt him lean closer to me. I couldn't concentrate on the movie at all. All I could think about was his hand in mine and his body pressed against me. At every jump scare he would either tighten his grip or move even closer to me. By the end of the movie he was practically in my seat with me.
When the credits were rolling we both just sat there while everyone else cleared out, I didn't want to move, I was enjoying this too much. Marcus, on the other hand, was probably too scared to move. When we were the last two in the theater I knew we had to go.
"Marcus, we should probably get going." I stood up, not wanting to let go of his hand but knowing I had to. I tried to let go of his hand, but he quickly stood up and gripped my hand even tighter.
He held my hand all the way to his truck, I was a blushing mess by the time we got there. I hopped in the truck, turning my face to the window so he couldn't see that my face was on fire.
We rode in silence all the way home, but when we got back to our apartment Marcus stopped me from getting out of the truck.
"I'm...sorry if I made you uncomfortable," he whispered, scratching the back of his neck.
I blinked, "You didn't. You didn't do anything wrong. If anything I should be the one apologizing, I shouldn't have suggested a scary movie." I sighed and ran my hands through my hair, "I'm sorry, and now I know to not watch any scary movies when you're around."
"No, the movie was fine, I actually enjoyed it...I just...didn't mean to squeeze your hand so hard."
I looked down at my hand and noticed the bruises, "I didn't even notice that you left any marks," I said quietly. Before Marcus could say anything I added, "Shit boy, you got some muscle!"
I looked up and grinned, tilting my head to the side. Marcus laughed. Yes! Mission achieved! I thought. I reached up and pinched his cheek, "You look nice when you smile, you should do it more often." I blew him a kiss, winked and quickly got out of the truck, laughing like a maniac as I ran away. I could hear his heavy steps chasing after me.
When I arrived at our door I was out of breath, I am so not an athlete, I thought as I tried to catch my breath. I heard the elevator ding and I quickly unlocked the door and ran to my room, locking the door to my room when I knew I was safe. I leaned against my door, catching my breath as I listened for any signs of Marcus.
I jumped and screamed when there was a loud bang on my door, how had I missed him coming into the apartment? I thought.
"Go away, Marcus!" I shouted through the door.
"Not until I get you back," He said.
"Why do you need to get me back?" I asked with a chuckle. "All I did was say you were cute, pinched your cheek, blew you a kiss, and winked at you." I held up a finger for each thing even though I knew he couldn't see me.
"Since you can't see me, I'm rolling my eyes right now."
"Good, maybe you'll find some brains back there."
Marcus gasped in mock offense, "I'm hurt, truly, that hearts my heart. I can't believe you would say that to me!"
I laughed, "Oh no, did I hurt the giant baby?" I cooed.
"Okay but in all seriousness I think I should have a look at your hand, those bruises looked pretty bad."
"No way!" I exclaimed, "You just want to get back at me! I'll just take care of them in the morning."
"Alright, suit yourself."
After a few minutes of silence, I thought Marcus had left so I started getting ready for bed. I heard a shuffle on the other side of my door, "Goodnight, Adrian. Sweet dreams." He said quietly, almost like he was embarrassed.
I beamed but said as calmly as possible, "Goodnight, Marcus. Sleep tight."
I went to bed in the best mood I've been in in a while. Why the hell was Marcus acting so strangely today? Is it possible that he likes me? But he just denied a few hours ago that he was most definitely NOT gay...I'm so confused. I groaned and pulled at my hair, honestly not knowing what to think. I know that people say that girls are confusing, but I personally think that guys are way more confusing then girls, even to another guy. I just hope I'll be less confused in the morning.
