Chapter Five
Uncharted Territory
"Oh, hell no." Alice growled, "Get the hell away from Adrian."
Blake smiled sweetly, "Nice to see you too, Alice."
"Um..Who is this?" Asked Marcus.
"This is Blake, m-my ex. Blake, t-this is Marcus, my roommate." I stuttered. "It, uh, it was nice t-to see y-you." I grabbed Marcus and Alice and tried to pull them towards the line so we can get our food and go but Blake grabbed my arm.
"Where are you going? I wasn't done talking to you, babe." He smirked.
I frowned, "Don't call be babe," I said in a small voice.
"Aw, but you used to love it when I called you babe, I guess I'll just have to get you back so IÂ can say it again."
"Okay buddy." Hissed Alice, "I tried to play nice but you aren't having it. If you don't get. The. Fuck. Away. From. Him...I swear I will end your miserable life." She pulled me behind her and stepped up close to Blake.
"Alice, don't." I said quietly.
She looked me in the eye and I could feel her relaxing. That's whats so great about Alice, she knows when to back down. She turned back towards Blake and gave him her best death glare.
"Alright, alright, I'll go." Blake held his hands up in surrender and looked me in the eye, his stupid smirk back on his face, "But trust me, baby boy, I'll find where you live and I'll win you back." He then winked and walked out of the restaurant.
We all stood in silence for a few seconds, processing what just happened.
"How dare he show his ugly face around me," Alice fumed as we all went through the line.
"Why do you guys hate him so much?" Marcus asked.
"He was abusive, and would come home drunk most nights..." I explained. Marcus has the right to know, especially if Blake said that he was somehow going to find out where I live. I grabbed the tray with my burrito and headed to an empty table, "I didn't leave him as soon as I should have, I didn't have anywhere else to go. Which I thought was even more scary than staying with an abusive boyfriend."
"Couldn't you have gone to stay with Alice?"
"He didn't know me then." Alice added, taking a bite of her burrito.
"I met Alice when I was put in the hospital because of Blake." I said, "She was some random person who decided to visit me."
"Really? You just randomly decided to visit a stranger in the hospital?" Marcus chuckled.
"Yeah, I read somewhere that every seventh person in hospitals don't have anyone who visits them, so I decided to visit this person named Adrian."
"When she came to visit, we instantly became friends. And not just because she knew EVERYTHING about me within an hour."
"How would she-." Marcus started.
"I visited when he was pretty high on pain meds, he was really loopy and spilled his guts. He told me about him being gay and his parents kicking him out of the house because of it, he told me about Blake and I was furious." She ranted with food in her mouth, waving her fork around. "Being the nosy person I am I decided to get his address and go and teach Blake a lesson-I'm a black belt in karate by the way-so I went to his house and beat the crap out of him and made him give me everything that Adrian owned."
"By the time I was let out of the hospital Alice and I were best friends, she told me what she did and at first I was scared, but when Blake never contacted me I was extremely grateful." I took a sip of my soda, "I eventually started living with Alice, I lived with her for about three years, but her sister needed someplace to stay so I went out and looked for a new place. Happening to come across your flyer."
"Dang, that's really rough." Marcus said, "you were lucky Alice decided to visit you instead of some elderly dude."
"I was extremely lucky, that's for sure."
"Well, now that we've got all that mushy crap out of the way, what's our plan for after lunch?" Asked Alice.
"I don't know, we could just go back to the apartment and watch a movie or something?" Marcus suggested as he stood up to throw away his trash.
"I'm down," Alice yawned, "I could use some relaxation time."
As we drove at the apartment, Alice was very careful that we weren't followed by Blake, she even made us take a different route. When we finally arrived at the apartment Alice made sure that she was the first one to our door, and sure enough there was a note attached to it.
"Damn it Blake, how do you do it," She grumbled.
"So, he knows where we live," Marcus stated as he unlocked the door and ushered everyone into the room, "This'll be fun."
"Alice, I think you should spend the night-are you panicking?" I asked, "Why are YOU the one panicking!"
"Well you know what they say, panicking burns a shit-ton of calories."
"Who even says that?"
"Me. Just now." She quickly went around to every room and made sure every window was closed and locked.
Meanwhile Marcus and I made ourselves comfortable on the couch.
Alice came out and plopped down next to me, forcing me to move close to Marcus. "Alice, this couch isn't really meant for three."
"Too bad, we're all friends here, so deal with it." She instructed. "What movie are we watching?"
I turned to Marcus, "What movie is in the DVD player?" I asked.
"I think it's X-Men."
"Then we're watching X-Men," I nodded.
"You're really that lazy," Alice raised an eyebrow at me as Marcus started the movie.
"Yes, I'm really that lazy. If you're gonna be like that why don't you go change the movie yourself?"
"Nah, X-Men is good."
"That's what I thought." I made myself comfortable on the couch and prepared to watch the movie.
"Dude, Marcus has been shivering since we got here," Alice whispered in my ear, "Go get a blanket and share it with him."
I glanced at her then looked at Marcus. She's right, he's shivering. I got up and went to my room, when I came back I was carrying my fuzzy storm trooper blanket. I sat back down and draped it over Marcus's legs, covering myself as well.
"Thanks," Marcus whispered, his breath hot on my neck.
"No problem," I whispered back, glad that it was dark in the room as my cheeks were bright red.
About halfway through the movie I started to get tired, my head was heavy so I let it fall on Alice's shoulder.
"Idiot," She said quietly, "Wrong shoulder." She then pushed my head so I was laying on Marcus's shoulder. I was too tired to even care.
"Tired?" He asked.
I nodded slightly and felt my eyes start to close. I was just awake enough to feel Marcus press a kiss to my temple and whisper, "Goodnight, Adrian." His head then fell on top of mine and we both fell asleep in the most comfortable position. It was perfect.
