Chapter Nine
Uncharted Territory
We're back to Adrian's POV now.
After we ate breakfast we all got dressed and ready for the day, except for Alice. We have to take her home so she can change.
As we were driving Alice back to her house, she decided that she was going to stay over tonight too.
"I don't want you to be left alone in your apartment in case Blake comes back." She explained.
"I'm not alone, I have Marcus," I pointed out.
"Marcus doesn't seem like the type to know how to fight." Alice replied.
Marcus gasped dramatically, "Rude! I am very capable of protecting Adrian, thank you very much."
"Um...sorry Marcus, but I agree with Alice." I declared.
"Dude!" Marcus exclaimed, "I'm wounded, truly."
I looked at him and rolled my eyes, "Whatever Marcus." I sighed with a chuckle, "You missed that turn."
"Dang it." He muttered as he made a quick u-turn.
"Whoa Marcus!" Alice yelled, "Slow down!"
Marcus just laughed and sped up even more.
I squeaked and grabbed his arm, "Slow down!"
He glanced at me and slowed his speed, making the correct turn too.
"Which house?" He asked.
While Alice pointed out her house Marcus detached my hand from his arm and laced out fingers together.
My head snapped toward him, but he wasn't looking at me. He had his head angled so I could barely see his face, but I did notice that his cheeks were red as tomatoes.
I chuckled and blushed as well, not wanting to let go of his hand when we pulled up to Alice's house.
"I'm gonna head in and grab my stuff," I noticed that she glanced at our hands, "You guys can wait in here." She added with a wink.
I mentally face palmed, why does she make things so obvious...I thought.
When she said that I had expected Marcus to let go of my hand in a hurry, but he didn't. He just looked at me and smirked. I frowned and tried to pull my hand away. He tightened his grip and muttered, "I'm not letting go."
I glanced again at our hands and blushed, I settled for just staring out the window and admiring the trees.
After a few minutes the car door opened, "Alright, let's go," said Alice with a smile.
Marcus backed out of her driveway without letting go of my hand. He even reached up to turn on the radio without letting go of my hand.
"You're really stubborn, you know that?" I grunted.
"Yes, I do know that." Marcus laughed. "But you're just as stubborn as I am."
"Actually," added Alice, "I think he's even more stubborn than you."
"Shhhh!" I scolded, "you're supposed to be on my side, Alice."
"Nah," Alice shook her head, "I'd rather agree with your boyfriend."
"B-boyfriend?" I spluttered.
I looked at Marcus with wide eyes and he was just smiling at me fondly. "I could get used to that!" He said excitedly.
I used my free hand and shoved his face, "Focus on the road, you absolute walnut."
The car was silent for a solid thirty seconds, then both Alice and Marcus burst out laughing.
"Absolute walnut?" Shrieked Alice once she was done laughing.
"Adrian, you're hilarious." Marcus chuckled.
I glared at them, "Would you rather I call you a dumbass? Jerkwad? Person-who-needs-to-let-go-of-my-hand?"
"Okay okay, I'm sorry for laughing." Marcus held up our hands, "but I'm not letting go!"
I rolled my eyes, "where are we going?"
"Well, its almost noon, so what do you guys want for lunch?"
"Subway?" Alice suggested.
"I'd rather have Jimmy Johns." I said quietly.
"Jimmy Johns it is!" Sang Marcus.
When we pulled up to Jimmy Johns Alice was the first one out of the car. She raced to the door and flung it open, me and Marcus looked at each other and quickly followed her.
When they walked in the door they weren't completely surprised to see Alice yelling at someone, but they WERE surprised to see that she was yelling at Blake.
"FOR GODS SAKE BLAKE, WHY ARE YOU ALWAYS AT THE PLACES THAT WE WANT TO EAT!" She yelled.
"Nice to see you again, Alice." Nodded Blake calmly.
"WELL ITS NOT FUCKING NICE TO SEE YOU!" She was really lucky that they were the only customers.
"You need to calm down." Said a boy with shaggy black hair as he walked over and wrapped his arm around Blake's torso.
"Who's this?" Alice growled.
"'This," said Blake with a charming smile, "Is my boyfriend, Keith."
"BOYFRIEND??" Alice shouted, "THEN WHY THE FUCK HAVE YOU BEEN TRYING TO GET ADRIAN BACK?"
"ALICE!" I shouted, "You need to calm down!"
She turned to me, "I'M SORRY, I'M A LITTLE HANGRY." She shouted back.
Marcus had already went up to order for everyone, so he just shoved her sandwich in her face. "Eat it." He ordered.
She took the sandwich and sat down at one of the many empty tables. Marcus and I sat down next to and across from her.
I tried my hardest to tune out Blake and Keith's conversation, but it wasn't working out too well.
"So that's Adrian?" I heard Keith say.
"Yup," Blake replied, "That other dude is his roommate, Marcus."
Keith snorted, "Roommate my butt. He totally likes Adrian."
"I know, that's why I want him to get away from Adrian."
Keith sighed, "You really need to get over him. You already have someone who loves you."
"I know, and I love you too. But I also still love Adrian."
I can't take this anymore, I thought bitterly. So I got up and stormed out of Jimmy Johns. I grabbed the car keys as I left, I heard Marcus stand up and hurry after me.
I also heard Alice, "ASSHOLE." She yelled before she left. I glanced behind me and saw Alice giving Blake and Keith the middle finger.
I chuckled, even though I was royally pissed off.
