Chapter 12

twelve

Against all odds - Minsung [✔]

Jisung's lips were warm. It was as if Minho was kissing the sun that he so dearly missed. He brought a hand to the human's cheek and caressed his soft skin tenderly. Jisung blushed and timidly pressed his lips harder against Minho's.

For a few blissful seconds, everything seemed right. It was as if the balance between good and evil was suddenly equal. And then Minho came to his senses and sharply pulled away from Jisung.

And in a split second, he abruptly vanished in thin air. Jisung ran his hands through his hair and let out an exasperated sigh. "What just happened?"

Minho was now crouched all alone in the basement. How could he foolishly let this mortal corrupt him? He had already made this mistake twice, and what did it all lead to? Pain.

He sighed. He knew that he had to stay away from this mortal now before he repeats the same mistake of falling in love and ending it with himself getting hurt.

Days passed by and then those days turned into weeks before Jisung knew it. Minho had gone missing for the second time. It was like Minho just didn't exist anymore. Or maybe he never existed and Jisung had actually gone insane.

He was confused, more than anything. Things had never really been good between he and Minho, considering how he tried to regularly murder him... but that last day they spent together was nice especially when Minho kissed him.

He had never kissed anyone before. So he wondered if Minho sensed it and that maybe it was his lack of experience that drove him away. It seemed like a stupid reason for the demon's sudden disappearance, but he had no more other reasons in mind.

He sighed and started typing on his keyboard. Due to the less disturbance that he'd been facing for the last few weeks, he had gotten a lot of writing done. He was actually proud of himself for once, and even his publishing company was thrilled.

It was nearing lunch time and he figured that he'd take a little break. He saved his progress and closed his laptop. He walked into the kitchen to make himself a sandwich.

He got all the ingredients out of the refrigerator. Turkey, cheese, lettuce, onion, tomato, honey, mustard... all centered perfectly between two pieces of whole grain bread.

He cut the sandwich in half and then turned to put everything back into the fridge. When he turned back around, his entire sandwich had disappeared. He looked around the kitchen, the counters, and even under the table - but it wasn't there.

He knew that there would only be one person responsible for the disappearance of his sandwich.

Minho.
