Chapter 31

Against all odds - Minsung [✔]

Trigger warning: violence :(

Jisung could hardly fathom that the seemingly nice friend he used to know turned out to be a threat to his life. Had Hyunjin only pretended to be interested in him so that he could get closer to him?

He pushed against Hyunjin's hold with all the force he could muster, getting him to budge a little. Furious, Hyunjin gave him a hard punch in return. It burned like fire, and his lower lip split open.

The metallic taste of blood on his tongue was nauseating and it reminded him that he had to keep fighting for his life. Otherwise, Hyunjin would kill him—and Minho.

His fear rose to an immense level when Hyunjin suddenly took out a knife and pressed it up against his throat with a sinister smile forming on his face.

Panicking, he began to struggle to free himself from Hyunjin's grasp, raw terror making his stomach churn and his body weak. The ache in his wrist was now blazing, but then it suddenly stopped.

A blinding white light flashed in front of his eyes, striking Hyunjin to the ground with full force.

Just then, his little demonic cat friend appeared right in front of him, its translucent body stood out in the dark alleyway. Jisung became more puzzled at this moment. He had no idea where it came from and how it even found him.

Nonetheless, he was very glad to see it, especially on a situation like this. Hyunjin quickly got up, his eyes flashing in rage. He reached for a small dagger with strange symbols on it.

Jisung had trouble seeing what it really was from afar, but it seemed to be a weapon that could be used to kill supernatural beings.

"Oh? A lower-class demon? How silly," Hyunjin hissed defensively, not backing down just yet. He approached the cat demon and jabbed his dagger at it, but it was quick to avoid his attack.

The cat then lunged onto him and opened its mouth widely, revealing a row of disturbingly sharp teeth. It bit Hyunjin's right arm, making him yelp in pain.

The little demon took advantage of the human's weakness and released an incredibly blinding light in the alley.

Jisung closed his eyes, and then heard a terrifying scream which he assumed to belong to Hyunjin.

His pulse raced in trepidation and horror and he covered his ears with his hands until it was all over and the area was completely silent. Only then did he dare to open his eyes.

Hyunjin was gone, there was no trace of him to be seen. Little did Jisung know, the cat actually sent him to hell... How unfortunate.

He approached the small demon and embraced it. He was very thankful for its sudden appearance, because if it hadn't had been there for him, he would've been dead by now.

"How did you find me? Were you following me?" Of course, that was quite stupid of Jisung. Did he really expect a cat to answer him back? Wasn't he quite silly to think that?

To be continued...
