Chapter 52

fifty

Against all odds - Minsung [✔]

A day later, Felix led Jisung to a secluded part in the forest; this was where they would be meeting Jeongin. They stopped on a clearing in the middle of the forest where nobody would bother them.

Felix sat down on a rock nearby and watched the two men with mild curiosity in his eyes. Not long after, his gaze focused on Jisung. His eyes were sorrowful and serious when he studied him, noting so much changes on how he looked.

It was plain to see that he was a different person now - being stabbed in the back by the one he had trusted the most had left its marks on him. He had gotten thinner and the shade of his skin appeared unhealthy.

And he barely smiled and made funny remarks like what he used to do. Felix swore to himself that if he ever had his hands on Minho, he would kick his selfish ass.

"Judging by what Felix told me, you have trouble controlling the flow of your magic," Jeongin said, furrowing his brows.

"Yes, that's the problem. It goes out of control and it hurts so much that I feel like I'm getting burned alive," he answered hollowly.

"Well then, let's not waste more time and start our practice."

"What?"

"Don't what me," Jeongin spat bitterly. "How are you going to learn to control your magic if you don't practice?" Jisung sighed. He had a point there.

"Fine," he said, and instantly released the light magic within him. Brightness burst before his eyes as raw magic poured out of him uncontrollably. It was like a hurricane, wild and untamed, impossible to get a grasp on.

He tried to focus and somehow hold it tighter, but he didn't succeed. No matter how hard he fought it, he got nowhere.

"That's not how it works," he heard Jeongin nag, and when Jisung's anger at him surged, so did his magical power. It went out of control completely, shooting off in all directions.

Most of it was directed at Jeongin, but the beams of light never reached him, vanishing before they could touch him.

"Then how does it work?" He yelled. He was tiring fast with the raging flow of the magic tearing through his body, and so far Jeongin hadn't done a thing to help him. "I can't contain it! It's impossible to grasp."

"You're not supposed to fight it, you idiot. It's a part of you, you need to accept it!"

"Easy for you to say," he replied, frustrated. The wild flow of light around him was dizzying and so bright that his eyes were starting to hurt. The magic was foreign to him, it didn't feel like a part of him yet.

He needed more time to get used to it, this wouldn't just work from one minute to the next.

"You have to calm down first. As long as you don't even have a grip of yourself, it won't work," Jeongin said.

"Can you leave me alone for a moment?" He asked.

Jeongin watched him with an unreadable expression, not letting him see what he was thinking. "Is that a good idea? I feel like you'll do something stupid as soon as I'm out of sight."

"Please. Just for a moment!"

"Fine. Just for ten minutes. No longer than that." Jisung heaved a sigh, watching him disappear between the trees to leave him alone for a while. He welcomed the silence around him, and the loneliness.
