Chapter 56

fifty-four

Against all odds - Minsung [✔]

The two demons led Jisung to a room located at the very end of the hallway and told him to enter. Jisung was scared, his heart beating nervously in his chest when he walked in, finding Minho motionless on the bed just like what the demons had told him.

He nearly stumbled over his own feet in his haste to get to Minho, and he stopped right next to him. He was sleeping soundly, but he was unnaturally pale. He appeared weak and ill. His heart sank and he frowned worriedly, sitting on the edge of the bed.

"Maybe he'll wake up if you ask him nicely," Seungmin teased and earned himself a slap from Felix. "Shut up, you dumbass," he hissed and dragged him out the room so Jisung could have some privacy.

He leaned over Minho and laid his hand on his cheek, shocked at how cold he felt. His fingers caressed his head, brushing over his wispy dark hair. He had longed for this moment so much that he couldn't even hold back his tears.

"Minho, I don't know if you can hear me," he said sadly, continuing to caress his head. "I miss you, please wake up soon. I want to talk to you... I've been so lonely without you, you know?"

He remained at Minho's side for a while and watched him with a frown until Felix opened the door and stuck his head inside, and he sighed as he approached Jisung.

"Why don't you eat something now and come back after?" He asked sternly and crossed his arms, not letting Jisung out of his sight until he nodded reluctantly.

"Fine," he mumbled and got up to follow Felix.

Since demons didn't need food to survive, there was nothing edible around in Chan's house. Therefore, the demons had improvised and briefly paid a visit to the human world to get something for Jisung.

Jisung ended up with takeout dumplings, which he scarfed down in no time. He hadn't eaten for days and his stomach had been painfully empty, so he was grateful to Felix and Seungmin for taking care of him.

They had talked for a while, but both had quickly noticed how impatient and unconcentrated Jisung was, knowing that he wanted to go back to a certain someone as soon as possible.

"Damn, you're so whipped for him," Seungmin snickered when Jisung started drumming his fingers on the kitchen table. "It's not like you're missing out on anything, he's still unconscious."

"You don't get it, Seungmin," he replied and grimaced.

"Then explain it to me," he smirked, prompting Felix to roll his eyes.

"We are not having a conversation about romance in this house," he cut in annoyedly and narrowed his eyes at Seungmin. "Why don't we go tell the others that Jisung had already woken up? In that way, we can give him some time alone with Minho."

"You're no fun," Seungmin sighed but complied with the other demon.

"Shut it, jerk," Felix retorted before he glanced at Jisung. "We'll be back in a while. Just make yourself at home, Jisung. You're safe as long as you don't leave the house."

"O-Okay," he said and got up. "See you guys later." The two demons both nodded at him and then Seungmin teleported along with Felix, leaving Jisung alone in the kitchen.

He wondered for how long they would be gone but didn't dwell too much on the thought. His legs had already started moving on their own, bringing him back through the hallway to Minho's room.

He closed the door behind him and walked to the bedside, sitting down and watching Minho quietly. His eyes were still shut, but something in his expression had changed compared to earlier.

It seemed like he wasn't feeling well, scrunching his brows and curling his lips downward. He was unconscious, but his lips parted as if he wanted to say something.
