Chapter 73

seventy-one

Against all odds - Minsung [✔]

Jisung got up from the bench and walked off with a smile on his face, wondering if Minho would like bubble tea as much as he'd liked cotton candy.

Unfortunately, the line in front of the bubble tea shop was annoyingly long. He sighed and waited anyways because he really wanted to see Minho's reaction to the sweet drink.

A few children were in line before him, whining at their parents until their conversation got on his nerves.

He was relieved when he finally got his two drinks and took them, walking back to where he had left Minho. Since it was midday, the park was filled with people and it took him a while to walk through the crowds.

As he neared the bench and spotted Minho sitting on it, his steps faltered. A bad feeling rose in his gut when he saw him talking to a pretty woman that was sitting closely next to him.

Jisung remained where he stood and watched tensely as the woman inched closer to Minho. That... kinda hurt to watch.

He couldn't see Minho's face since his back was turned on him, but it didn't seem like he was opposed to this stranger. She reached a hand out to touch Minho and to Jisung's astonishment, he took it and held it.

The woman's eyes then widened when Minho said something to her. Jisung couldn't bear to watch any longer. His heart broke in his chest, shattering into tiny pieces.

It suddenly became harder to breathe as a lump formed in his throat. Why did Minho flirt with other people when he wasn't around for ten minutes?

Why did he have to be like that? Was Jisung not enough? Maybe he wasn't interesting enough. Maybe he wasn't good-looking enough. Maybe he was just a burden. Hadn't Minho said so himself?

Tormented by his insecurities, tears flowed down his cheeks. "Jerk," he sobbed and turned around to walk away.

He dumped the bubble tea in the trashcan nearby and hurried on, narrowly dodging people when his vision became blurred due to his tears.

He wasn't in the mood for an amusement park date anymore, in fact, he regretted ever coming here. He ran faster, passing people who stared after him in astonishment, but nobody stopped him.

Minho had been putting up with this annoying woman for far too long and his temper was about to get the best of him. Turning around to her, he glared.

"Listen, I don't want to talk to you," he hissed. "Piss off!"

Surprised by his outburst, but not ready to give up, she stretched out her hand to touch him, but he quickly caught it and held it in a painfully tight grip.

His eyes narrowed. "Filthy human, how dare you touch me. Keep your disgusting hand to yourself," he growled.

With wide eyes, she stared at him and retracted her hand. Now she wasn't too confident in her undertaking to flirt with him anymore since his rudeness was putting her off.

Minho smirked seeing her inch back and get up, but his smugness didn't last for long when he realized that Jisung had been gone for more than fifteen minutes now.

Maybe the line in the bubble tea shop is very long, he thought to himself. He decided to wait for a few more minutes, but when exactly thirty minutes had passed, he started to worry.

Head snapping around, he scanned the crowd for a sign of Jisung, hoping to see him somewhere, but among the many people, he didn't spot him.

Worried for his wellbeing, he ran off in the direction where the bubble tea shop was. At this point, he started overthinking. What if something bad had happened to Jisung?
