CHAPTER 27 - IS IT FIVE OR FOUR

तुझे देख लूं तो सारा दिन फूल सा खिलता है,

तेरी आवाज सुनकर ही, ना जाने क्यों दिल को सुकून मिलता है।

~•DHRUV's POV•~

"What? " I was shocked hearing this.

"Why is everyone so eager to get you and Garv marry?" I asked and Garv looked at me, surprisingly.

"With Avantika?" He asked, standing from his bed.

I pointed him to close his mouth. Do you really think he will sit silently? Never.

"Keep your phone on speaker. I should know why they are discussing me! " He  ordered as he was confused hearing his name in between our calls.

"Geetanjali, my phone is on the speaker.Garv wants to know as well! " I informed her.

We both sat on the bed and kept my phone on the pillow placed in between us.

"Geet baisa, tell me . Is everything alright? " Garv asked.

"To be honest, No. Actually Garv banna, how do your family know my seema bhuasa. She stays in Delhi. His elder son's name is Paramveer.  Do you know them?" She asked on the other side.

Garv started recalling and I was looking at him, but I was nervous.

"Yeah,Now I know how she knows me and my family!" He replied and looked at me.

"How Garv? "I asked.

"Please tell me!" She requested.

"Actually Paramveer's father and my papa are cousins. So she knows me! "He answered and I realized I have no connection with her family the way Garv has with Shaktawats.

"Okay. Do you know she suggested you should be engaged with me? " She informed and his eyes were widened with confusion.

"Ohhhhhhh. I guess you heard it wrong she would have said Get Garv marry Avantika! " He acted as if he was correcting what she said .

"No. She told her family that Garv should marry her Shaktawat sister no. 1! " I corrected him.

"Noooooooooooo. How can I?  No. No." with this, his dramatic side was alive.

"Garv banna. Mr. Deora! "She called us to gain our attention.

"Yes"We answered at the same time.

"There are two more problems which are waiting  for us." She stated and we looked at each other as we wanted to know what she meant by that.

"2 problems?" I asked.  "Tell me fast otherwise I wouldn't be able to control myself without knowing it"

"Are you ready to listen to this? "She warned me.

"Hmm. Fast.  Tell me"I replied.

"Aapsa….. doesn't" She stammered.

"What doesn't?  Please my heartbeat is increasing "

"Have some water Dhruv. " Garv gave me a water bottle which I denied drinking.

"Aapsa doesn't like you Dhruv" The statement by her was not less than 440 volt. Why does her father not like me?

"But why?"We both asked at the same time.

"And who told you this? Garv questioned.

"Problem no. 2" She replied.

"Huh? "We are confused now.

Garv looked at me with a doubt and I stared  at my phone and asked her to say whatever was going on in her mind.

"See. Avantika knows there is something between us. She informed me that aapsa doesn't like you but he likes Garv banna and thinks him as a right match for me. " She informed me and the next question that came to my mind now is how Avantika knows this.

"That means now we have 5 members in our Mission Dhruv and Geet!" Garv announced happily.

"5?" I asked him looking at his happy face.

"You and your Rainbow, Me, Vihaan and Avantika. Five " He informed me by counting names on his fingers.

"Garv banna. We are 4 not 5!" She said and we were able to guess that Avantika  doesn't want us to be together.

"Avantika is not on our side. She said clearly that she doesn't want us to continue as well. " She said and we were astonished how she could say this.

"Why?? "

"I don't know exactly but she knows this from the past 1.5 years that we have known each other! " She stated.

"Is she a detective or what? " Garv murmured and I was running short of words.

"Geet baisa, how does she know that you and Dhurv are together? Garv questioned.

"Yes please tell. If you haven't informed her then how does she know this? " I joined him expecting her to answer our questions.

"Actually during last year, I mean in my first year of MBA . I went on a trip to Kerala if you remembered" She started telling us.

"Hm! "

"That time she found that letter which you wrote for me before leaving for Jaipur and rest you can understand"

Garv and I were sitting, staring at each other without saying anything . He was perplexed after hearing that she hid this for more than 1.5 years from her sister and we all assumed that she was clueless about it.

"Are you there?" We heard her voice and started answering her questions.

"Geet baisa, your sister is against your love?" Garv asked and I sat without knowing how to respond to the words she kept saying.

"Not against but also not with us. " She replied.

"Don't worry. Garv will deny if his family asks about this" I assured and we ended the call.

"Dhruv, why can't they see Dhruvpratap Singh Deora and Geetanjali Kanwar Shaktawat  are perfect with each other!" He said in a frustrated voice, laying on his bed.

"I don't know but I must do something really soon. I can't let anyone else call her his wife. Why doesn't her father like me?" I wondered and expressed the same to Garv.

"Whatever the situation is, I am there for you and your Rainbow" He smiled and his words were like a comfort which I needed the most at the moment.

"Garv, what if the situation goes against us? What if her family makes her marry someone else?  What if my family thinks the same for her? It's not easy for me to sacrifice my love and see her with someone else. I know she won't be happy if I am not the one whom she calls her partner. Garv,  I can't imagine my life!" I expressed all my thoughts hugging him and he started comforting me.

"Dhruv, don't worry. We will figure out something. Please calm down"

"Garv,  tomorrow morning we will go to the temple. I will pray that please take everything from me but don't take away her . " I asked and tried controlling myself because I don't want to cry at this moment.

"Okay. Now sleep. I will wake you up tomorrow morning "  He informed me and I slept on my bed.

After a week

College Staff Room

"Dhruv, please come. " The HOD of our English Department welcomed me as soon as I entered her cabin.

"Thank-you mam."

She asked me to sit and I was waiting. Why did she call me to meet her all of a sudden?

"Dhruv, I hope you remembered that we told you once you join our college as a professor once your semester gets over" She mentioned.

"Yes. I remembered, " I answered.

"You can join us next year. Please don't say no to this offer. You are a wonderful student who has contributed so much to our college in the last five years. It will be an honor for us if we have one of our students as a faculty member who is indeed an inspiration for upcoming batches, "she explained and requested.

"Ma'am I have discussed this with my family and friends as well. But"

"But What Dhruv?  If there is anything, please let me know . I will help you out "

"I have started writing a book of a romance genre. It is 70% done. I have plans to publish it first then to join  our institute " I informed.

"Wow.  That's amazing. I know some reputed publication houses. If you want, they will help you out. I am proud of you. I am always here to help you. "

After discussing everything, it was finalized that I will join them as Asst. Professor of English Department from next academic year. I can't express how happy I was at that moment.

I came out of the staff room and thought to inform her first. I took my phone and there was already a missed call from her around 15 minutes before.

Suddenly I remembered the reason why she had called me. Today she has a placement interview.

I dialed back and she answered happily. I could sense that she got selected.

"Mr. Deora, I got selected. Meet Geetanjali Kanwar Shaktawat, the Investment Banker who is going to start working after her semesters in one of the reputed banks. " She announced proudly.

"Congratulations Rainbow. And Meet Dhruv Pratap Singh Deora, Asst. Professor at Department of English Literature ,St. Stephens College, Jaipur" I informed and she screamed out of happiness.

"Yippee. Congratulations. So when are you adding Author after your name? Don't forget to invite me when you have a press conference" She ordered.

"How can I forget the one who inspired me to write and read books? No celebration or achievement of my life is complete without you" I said and I know she must be blushing hearing this.

"Don't make me blush Dhruv"

"That's my duty, Geetanjali" I replied.

***Time skip***

~•GEET's POV•~

Time - 7.50pm

"Avantika, how was your exam today?" I asked, switching off the TV

"Moderate.No It was tough actually. " She replied but I can see she wasn't happy since she returned from her exam center.

"Will you clear it? " I asked.

"Maybe. If not,  I would not give it again. I will pursue criminology next year. Because I can't delay in the name of hope that I might pass this time" She answered, laying on the sofa.

"BTW when are you joining your work? " She asked, looking at my offer letter placed on the table.

"After 2 months, after exams" I answered.

Kavya was looking at us because we left her out of our discussion.

"Nobody is going to ask this but I had my English exam today. It went well. My plan is to choose humanities next year"She declared standing on the chair which was kept nearby.

We clapped for her and she did her signature hair flip as usual.

"What's going on, Shaktawat sisters?" Aapsa asked as soon as he entered from the main gate.

We ran and hugged him. This is our mandatory gesture which we do everyday when he returns from his workplace.

"I got placed aapsa" I informed him though he knew it already.

"So proud of  you my Geet, my Avantika and My Kavya"

He sat on the sofa and Kavya accompanied him by sitting just next to him.  I bought a glass of water and mumma was busy in the kitchen as we sisters were free from our duty today.

"Mr. Hukum Singh Shaktawat, I have a question  for you? "Kavya asked in a bold voice.

"Ask Ms. Kavyapriya Kanwar Shaktawat " He answered and smiled.

"Don't say you want a trip to Shimla" Avantika teased her.

"Noooooooooooo " She denied.

"I need a pet dog. Please let me have one after my exams. Please please please" She started requesting, hugging aapsa.

"Tu kam hai kya jo ab pet dog chaiye" Aapsa teased her.

(You are not less than a pet dog)

"I need company. Cute company please " She began her drama to make him agree to her request.

"We will think about it. "

"Think sab nahi Karna hai. Order nikalo court wala," She said with puppy eyes.

(No need to think about it. I need a court's order)

"Okay. Exams khatam hone ke baad done, " He announced .

(After your exams are done).
