CHAPTER 44 - OUR INTENTIONS
CRUSHSHIP 🎡
GEET'S POV
âDhruv, come here âJija called him, who was busy talking over his phone.
She made him to stand near me , âYou shouldn't go anywhere and you both have to wait near the car till I call youâ saying this, I saw her going inside of the house and I noticed his house which had nameplate outside of the house âDeora's â
My eyes fell on the decoration lights , which sparkled the whole house. I noticed his sister coming towards us with a bright smile and I noticed him talking to his friends.
The only person I am scared of is his mumma. She won't leave a chance to speak what lies in her heart no matter how much it can hurt the opposite person.
We were asked to stand on the instructions and his mumma wearing a orange poshak, standing with a thali applied tilak on his forehead first and then she applied on my mod first.
My hands were trembling a little but still I tried to stay calm, not to reflect any kind of doubts on my face. She fed us gudd and the whole house was echoed with songs sung by ladies.
I heard some ladies talking about my height - how he found the perfect bride to meet the height difference standard.
I didn't want to hear them so I decided to be least bothered by their words.
âBindanisaâ I heard his mumma asking me to do touch the kalash which was filled with rice for the griha pravesh.
âRight walaâShivu jija said and I touched, pushing the kalash little with my right foot so the rice can fall.
They placed a plate of water which had kumkum (vermilion) so I can dip my feet in order to leave red footprints as soon as I entered his house.
He walked along with me while I could sense him watching me doing all the rituals. One of them placed seven plates in each of the seven different circles drawn on the floor. Every plate had a single roti.
He will place his sword in the middle of it while his kakisa and I have to collect it one by one without making any sound out of it. This will be repeated seven times.
I bent to hold the first plate along with her and he made sure to not remove the tip of the sword from the plate.
The rituals got over after 20 minutes of struggle and the reasons are my poshak, the ghoonghat and my low energy body.
"Ab chalo mandir mai asshirwaad lene âHis mother directed us while other ladies joined us too.
I never got a chance to see his house apart from a glimpse of his living room and temple when I visited during his sister's wedding .
To be honest, I don't even know what his room looks like after renovation because he never gave me a chance to ask for it. I only know about the corner due to his mirror selfie.
We entered the inside of the temple to seek the blessings. The mod (painting on the wall which has symbols related to a wedding) was drawn on the wall which had our names along with the wedding date. We turned to touch the feet of his mumma and then all the elder ones who in return handed us shagun while his mumma and sister gifted me jewellery.
After One Hour
DHRUV'S POV
She won't be sleeping tonight in the room but she will sleep in the temple along with my sister or any other ladies . I hope she had her dinner and I noticed her bags are yet to arrive in my room.
I went downstairs and thought once to ask her if she needs anything.
âDhruv, where are you going? â I heard Vihaan's voice from the backside.
âGhar ke Mandir kyu?â I informed, turned my head to see him standing ,his hands kept inside of his jacket which he wore to protect himself from the weather.
âMeeting Geet ,let me join you tooâ He placed his hand around my shoulder while we headed towards the temple.
She was sitting wearing a cotton rajputi suit (the layout is same as poshak but the material differs which makes it wearable on a daily basis) of yellow colour with red chunari of bandhani covering her head.
I never saw her in this look and suddenly she raised her head to see us on hearing our talks.
âGeetanjali, do you need anything? âHis brother asked but she shook her head instantly saying no.
âO hello Dhruv, chalo bahar ye kya hai. Aaj raat hi idhar hai kal se ye room mai milegi aapki biwi âI heard my sister's taunting who came inside with a water bottle.
âHa jaa raha hu. â I left along with my friend and Garv who was busy talking over the call about his work, joined us too.
âDhruv, I am leaving tomorrow for Mumbai for an urgent recording  â He said, climbing the stairs while we followed him.
We decided to go to one of the guest rooms on the first floor where they both are staying. Vihaan sat on the bed on the left side, Garv on the right while I sat on a chair.
âWe don't have this rasam of making a bride to sleep in the temple, â Vihaan informed removing his jacket.
âBut we do have in Sanchore, â Garv said, placing a pillow in order to sleep.
âDhruv, 5.5 years ka long distance aur pehli raat door biwi se. â Vihaan giggled and Garv joined him too.
âRasam ke kaaran hai toh mai kya karu aur jyada kiya na mai room ke bahar chala jaunga â I warned, trying to get up from the chair.
âNo no. Sorry, I respect your culture and I know we have to follow them â He stopped and we continued talking recalling our memories from our school, college and of course Jaipur.
THE NEXT DAY
I got ready wearing a sky blue achkan along with a pure pink safa. Today we have to go to devasthan at my place and before that we have to play games too.
I got ready and sat waiting for her while ladies of my family were talking, gossiping and few were giggling. She came along with jija,in the same look which she had during our wedding.
She walked taking small steps without looking at anyone instead her eyes were looking at the floor. She sat next to me and it's time for the ring game first.
The ring was dropped into the vessel of buttermilk and before I could use both my hands my mumma stopped me.
âDhruv, tu bas ek hi haath se kar sakta hai air bindani toh dono haatho se ring dhund sakte haiâ
âYe toh inequality hui na â Garv said his words without waiting for a second.
âYehi rule hai Beta Garv â Jija informed me while the game began.
Her hands were searching for the ring but I decided I won't win a single round. My right hand was moving slowly with no intention to find the ring .
She found out and gave it to jija. The second round began and my family members tried telling me to find it as soon as possible but I didn't hear them.
This time she found it too and my best friends were perplexed looking at my actions.
âDhruv, udaipur mai toh fir bhi tu competition de raha tha ab kya hua ?â Garv asked but I didn't reply.
âAgar ye round bhi bindani jeet gai na toh Dhruv banna aap par inki manmani chalegiâ One of the ladies said and she looked at me.
âPichle 5.5 years se inki toh chal rahi hai, poori zindagi bhi maan lunga â I smiled and my cousins started their game to tease me.
âDhruv bhabha agar writer ban sakte hai Bhabisa ke liye toh ye Konsi badi baat hai '' I saw her face blushing in the ghunghat hearing their words .
The third round began but this time she slowed her hand movements passing the ring to me. I passed her back and blinked my eyes. She passed it again and this time I returned it. I smiled and blinked to show it to everyone you found.
She brought her hand out along with the ring and she was declared as the winner but my friends and cousins assumed that I lost it knowingly to make her as a winner.
We played the remaining games too which were the same as we played at her place. After that we have to visit temples around my places.

NIGHT TIME
GEET'S POV
Shivu jija opened his room door,âAap jaiye Dhruv aata hi hoga. Kuch kaam se bahar gaya haiâ She said and left me.
I entered his room and my eyes fell first on the photo frame hanging on the wall which had his photo from Jaipur. He looks so young in this.
I looked around because it's my first chance to see his room after the renovation. The old setup had a single bed and had a vibe of young adult but this is designed as a room where a couple can stay.
The bed was placed in the middle of the left side of the entrance while a window which had curtains over it - one can find it right of the bed.
The cupboards were on the opposite side of the bed while a dressing mirror found its place next to the bed a little away but sharing the same wall for the support.
I wore a pink rajputi suit with dark pink cotton odhna , with my mangalsutra around my neck and the bangles were the ones which his family bought for me during the pheras. I have to wear them for a certain time period.
I could hear the sound of my anklets moving around his room. I went to see his study table and I found out the diary which I gifted him when he turned 20. I won't read it because it's wrong to do it.
I placed it back and I noticed my luggage near the corner of the cupboards .I will arrange it tomorrow or day after tomorrow once I get free from all the rituals.
I heard someone knocking the door and I turned to see it as the door was open.
âDhruv aya nahi kya ab tak? âShivu jija asked, placing a water bottle on his study table which was near to the entrance.
âNo, aate hi honge âI said, glancing at the time on the clock .It's 10pm. I can feel I have no energy in my body and the reason is the rituals which I had to perform all day today.
âI am telling you Geet it's Garv's plan and I know he doesn't want to share him with you âJija expressed , heading towards the door.
âMai jaati hu aur ye maharaja kaha reh gaye pata kar ke aai '' Saying this, she closed the door and I sat on the bed.
Why did they do this decoration? It's so awkward like I don't know how to say it but I am going to share a room with him. Suddenly I remembered my best friend's words - my jiju writes the novel.
The knocking on the door stopped me from thinking further. I noticed the door opening and I raised from the bed but it was him , removing his watch and placing it on the table.
I didn't say a word and there was a complete silence from my side.
âI am sorry, woh Garv and uski endless baateinâ
He said and suddenly looked at me. Maybe because I didn't say anything to him.
âKya hua? Gussa ho gaye kya? â He asked, standing in front of me, looking into my eyes.
âNahi but â
âokay no but. Aap change karlo i know isme comfortable nahi ho I will be back soon in 5 minutes . Ye envelope dekr aata hu âHe smiled and pulled my left cheek .
He left the room and I opened my suitcase as I am yet to arrange my side of the cupboard. Where did I keep my night dress? I guess maybe in that black one.
I opened the black bag and started to search but I couldn't find it. Where are my night dresses which I have ordered? I searched in the whole bag but I couldn't find it. Geet, wait Kavya helped me in packing.
I called her to find out where she had already kept.
âKavya, in which bag did you pack my night dress which I had ordered last month? âI asked without letting her speak.
âBlack wale mai hi hai. Navy blue covers me âShe said, while I placed my phone between my ear and right shoulder.
I found a cover and cut the call after thanking her.
I took it out but I was shocked as it's not the one that I have ordered. What's this lingerie doing here with me? I didn't order this. I checked my phone to confirm whether it's my sister's plan but my online app showed me the one which I had placed an order for.
âAapne ab tak change nahi kiya? Is there any issue inside of the bathroom? â I heard his voice. I guess he came back. Geet, hide this.
I hurriedly tried to pack inside but my luck wasn't in my favour. It fell down on the floor.
I turned back to get it but he was staring at me.
âReally Geetanjali? â
âNo no no. Please. Don't ever think of that. Kavya ne kiya hai ye â I said, picking it and hiding it in my bag.
âPlease Geetanjali. Why are you putting the blame on your little sister? Tell me frankly â He grinned, squeezing my cheeks.
âNo Dhruv, trust me. â
âI never knew that my wife had this planâHe continued and I tried explaining to him as I wasn't aware of it.
âWait, let me call her again. '' Before I could call her back , he took my phone away.
âI don't like anyone in my privacy â He said and I had no idea how I should make him understand that it's not my plan. I know it's definitely Avantika's idea and Kavya has helped her.
âI trust you that you won't be ordering this âHe started laughing but I gave him no response. I was so embarrassed.
âWaitâ He said and opened his cupboard. I kept my bag away and he returned.
âWear this âHe said, showing me his clothes.
âWon't it be loose? I mean mere jese 2 geet aayegi â I replied looking at his shirt and night pants.
âThen you can wear that dress which just slipped from your hands âHe mentioned but he tried to stop himself from laughing.
âOkay I will wear this âI said, taking his clothes from his hands to change it and opening the bathroom door.
After 20 minutes
I combed my hair standing in front of the mirror to make it as a bun but I noticed him exiting the bathroom after changing. I can see him standing and wiping his face with a towel .He wore a black T-shirt. Why does he love black colour so much?
I noticed him walking towards me ,standing behind me. Geet, you don't even have an option to go outside of the room!! I took a deep breath and tried to make a bun but his hands took away the clip before it could make its way to my hair.
âDhruvâ
âPlease don't tie your hair. â He said, hugging me from behind, wrapping his hands around me, placing his chin on my shoulder. I could see the reflection of ours in the mirror.
I was awestruck and turned my face a little to see him but he started speaking
âDid you remember when we were friends you said you want to say to my wife that she will be lucky to have me in her life? â
I nodded a little but he kept his eyes diving into my eyes.
âSaamne dekhoâ As soon as he said that, we looked into the mirror.
âMeet my wife and tell her how lucky she is to have me as her husband âHe smiled, holding my left hand and kissing it.
I felt a tear in my right eye but I took a gulp in my throat in order to stop myself from being emotional.
âI love you Geetanjali. Ab chalo so jate haiâ He removed his hands and moved back.
I pulled the sleeves which were longer than my hands and I sat on the bed , switched the light off on my side.
âComfortable? â He asked, sitting on the bed, on my left side.
âHmâ I replied while keeping my hands in the blanket though the heater was turned on to maintain the room temperature to keep it warm.
âI hope mann laage riyo hai athe? " He rarely speaks in marwadi with me. I noticed his hands around his T-shirt's button .
âHaa â I answered , taking a breath.
The darkness, the neon light in the ceiling, was falling on his face .
Geet, sleep. I know I am acting like a stupid but I don't know why I was so nervous.
I laid down and covered myself with my blanket.
âMrs. Deora, we got one blanket to share ?Sharing is caring. â I heard his voice and removed the blanket from my face .
He leaned towards me and smiled, though I couldn't see his face clearly.
âHusbands and wives are meant to sleep together â He said, I could see some plan in his mind to tease me. What can I expect from him apart from teasing me?
âWe are sleeping â¦â¦..on the same bed â I replied, taking a pause .
âSame bed, is it the same as sleeping together? â He asked, while his hand made a way to keep his mobile on the table next to mine..
âDhruv, â I said, gathering courage to tell him exactly what I was feeling at that moment. My hands were already in the competition to beat the ice.
âWhat Geetanjali?â He said in his deepest voice while his face came closer.
âI know I told you I won't do anything without asking your permission. But your eyes aren't cooperating with your wordsâ he said, while I was surprised at what he was trying to say.
âDhruv, I am nervous. We are in a same room for the first timeâ
âI am nervous too, my wife â He leaned more and his nose slowly made contact with mine.
âDhruv, what ifâ
âHmâ
âWhat if our lips got touched? â I asked, because of the closeness we had. What if he loses his balance and falls on me.
âIf you want, it will, otherwise can I just hug you and sleep? â
âHm. âI realized his hand was tucking my hair behind my ear and his eyes were busy playing with my eyes.
I couldn't find myself moving my gaze away from his face and slowly he kissed my forehead so slowly to feel the warmth of his lips on it ,then again our eyes met.
I tried looking away as my body couldn't find it easy to hold the butterflies.
"Look at me, Geetanjali. I am here â
To be honest, he's not just a guy with cuteness but he is more than that. I think he will prove it if I give him consent.
âWill you stop doing this or should I do it my way? â He said, while I was puzzled about what he was talking about.
âWhat Dhruv? â I said but My eyes widened hearing his question.
âBiting your lips i know you do this when you are nervous â
âO sorry, I didn't do it intentionally â
"What do you do intentionally?âHe replied back
âIt's What do we do intentionally? â I corrected him , closing my eyes when IÂ realized what I told him. What will he think of me?
âSo can we? â
I opened my eyes hearing his words and his lips were nano meters away from mine.
I felt his lips moving on my lips while my eyes were closed, he held my hand and while I kept my other hand around his neck.
He moved away and I felt his lips again, but this time on my neck. I wore his shirt but it was loose enough to make him do it effortlessly.
âDhruvâ I said slowly.
His lips moved from right to left side and then back to right and his hands managed to make their way to my waist .
His hands were on the edge of the shirt but I could feel his touch on it. His hands were warm enough but his lips moved away from my neck only to smash it on my lips.
âDhruv â
âKya? âHis lips moved away but his hands still made their home on my stomach. I can't hold more butterflies and zoos.
His eyes returned to see me and
âYou know Geetanjali, I never loved someone the way I love you. How could I love someone else when you always stayed in my mind. I heard many of them saying Geet is lucky to have his Dhruv but i am the luckiest to have you. â He kissed my cheek, on the right.
He pulled me closer towards him and I was above him and my hairs were falling in his face which I tried removing but I wasn't successful.
âRest after some time âHe whispered into my ears.
I tried removing myself but he pulled me back
âIf you step back, I will kiss your lips and I know how fast your heart beats at that moment. â
âDhruv, am I supposed to sleep on you tonight? â
âYou can. You are my wife and you should use this opportunity â He kissed my hand while holding it .
âBetter i will sleep on your side because I don't have an habit to sleep in this wayâ
"You will form this habit one day soonâ He said and touched his lips again but this was the most passionate kiss we ever had.
My breath. It's unstable.
He removed his lips and looked at me while his hair were messing up, maybe because of my hands.
âDhruv please â I said slowly while his hand snaked from my shoulders towards my fingers but he didn't break eye contact. He kept looking at me.
His fingers managed to fill the gap between my fingers. He pulled me closer, while our nose touched each other.
âGeetanjaliâ He kept my hand on his shirt at the heart.
âAre you okay? â I asked as it was beating faster.
âI am not. You know why? You are the reason why my heart is beating so fast. I felt the same when I realized I started loving you. I felt the same when we hugged for the first time. I felt the same when we met for the first time. I felt the same when we kissed for the first time.I felt the same when said you love meâHe said, playing with my hair.
âYou remembered everything? â
âI remembered each of the feelings I felt every time we met during the last 5.5 years. I am not joking Geetanjali '' His words suddenly brought a stroke of 440 volts in my body.
I couldn't find any words to say. I couldn't find a phrase to reply to him. I couldn't find it.
âI think we should sleep now. I love you.
We have to get up early. Don't worry I will wake you upâ He said, kissing my forehead.
He hugged me while I placed my hand on his shoulder and closed my eyes to sleep.
THE NEXT MORNING
DHRUV'S POV
The sunlight who got its license to enter my room through the window turned out to be my reason to get up.
My eyes searched for my mobile to check the time. My sleepy eyes glanced at it - 6.40am.
I turned my face to look at her but she was sleeping, without any distance. She hugged me as if I were a teddy bear. I slowly removed her hair strands from her face, tucking it behind her left ear.
I don't want to wake her up but I have to otherwise she will panic on realizing she doesn't have much time to get ready as today is her first ghoomar .
âRainbow â I called her slowly caressing her cheek.
âO Rainbow uthiyeâ I repeated but she snuggled into my shirt.
âMumma sone donaâ
I guess her mind is still in Udaipur.
âMumma nahi Dhruv haiâ I kissed her forehead but she didn't open her eyes.
âGeetanjali , â
âHmm. Sone do na yaar â
I blushed at her words which urged me to sleep more. I know she is going back to Udaipur for her pagphera today .
âKisine agar aapko mere shirt mai dek lia na ulta matlab smjege â Hearing this she opened her eyes and sat on the bed.
âHa na, Shivu jija aate honge. Mai aai change krke âBefore she could stand ,I stopped her by holding her hand.
â7.30 se pehle koi nahi uthega you know winter. Chalo give me a morning hug. â
She stared ,sitting nearby .
âWhat? Good morning Geetanjali â I hugged her tightly, she wished me back with smile âGood morning Patidevji â
âMai change karke aati hu â She informed and went to change her clothes while I went downstairs to get her chai.
AFTER 2 HOURS
I got ready and entered my room only to find her getting ready for her first ghoomar. I went near the mirror and stood only to find her applying bindi between her eyebrows.
âAny help? âI asked, giving her a smile.
âNo. I will manage itâ
âAre you sure? Jewellery baaki hai aapkiâI asked her as she has to get ready in the next 20 minutes.
âYeah. Shivu jija has asked me whether she could help me or not but she has already so many works so I thought I shouldn't disturb herâ
âMrs. Deora, aap iss speed se toh 1 hour lagaoge chalo main help karta huâ
âAre you sure? â She said with a doubt, wearing her earring in the right ear
âI don't know how exactly it is worn but if you instruct me I can help youâ I said, taking the necklace from the box.
She nodded and first I helped her in wearing a necklace while she informed me how tight the knot should be.
âRuko, aise nahi karna hai. Aap jao mai kisiko keh dungi help karne k liye â
âMere hote huye koi aur kyuâ
"Aapki mai class lu kya ki kese karte hai?â
âI really want to help you âI requested her.
âPar aise late hoga ruko jija ko bulati hu â She said, wearing her nath .
