Love Redesigned: Chapter 49
Love Redesigned (Lakefront Billionaires Book 1)
âWhatâs up with you?â Lily plucks the remote from my hand and shuts off the TV mid-episode.
âWhy did you do that?â
âBecause youâre not paying attention.â
I cross my arms over my PJs. âYes, I was.â
âYeah, right. You didnât even flinch when the capo decapitated that guy with a machete.â
âSo?â
She raises a brow. âSo you always look away when they get to the gory parts.â
I release a heavy sigh that has her snapping her fingers.
âThere! Thatâs the fifth time tonight youâve done that.â
My head drops back against the couch.
âDoes this have to do with your trip to San Francisco tomorrow?â Lily sits sideways on the couch.
âAm I that obvious?â
âA little bit.â
âI should be happy about how quickly everything is moving, but every time I think about leavingâ¦â
âYou wish you could stay?â
The pain in my chest intensifies. âYeah, but then I feel torn between wanting my show and wishing I could live here.â
As much as I love my show and expanding my brand, I love the idea of staying in Lake Wisteria more.
Lily tucks her legs beneath her. âWhy not have both?â
My eyebrows knit together. âThe production company is based out of California.â
âSo? Lots of shows are filmed in other states and countries. Iâm sure they could make some changes to make both sides happy.â
I scoff. âIâm not exactly in the position to be making demands.â After my former production company pulled out of the deal, the last thing I want to do is upset Archer by making changes to the original plan.
âYou could at least ask and see what they say.â
âButââ
Lily doesnât let me finish my train of thought. âWhatâs the worst that can happen?â
âThey tell me to get lost?â
Her chin lifts as she tosses her hair over her shoulder. âThen theyâre not worth your time and energy.â She grabs my phone off the coffee table and tosses it on my lap. âCall your agent.â
I stare at the dark screen.
âDo it. Do it. Do it,â Lily chants.
But what if Archer Media says no and pulls out of the project? The nagging voice in my head speaks up.
After everything Julian has done to show he cares about me, including offering to move to California, the least I can do is take a risk and ask a question.
I unlock my phone. âScrew it.â
Lily watches as I pull up my agentâs contact information and give her a call.
âDahlia! Whatâs going on?â
I clear my throat. âIâve been thinking about something, and I wanted to run it by you before our meeting.â
âWhat is it?â
My heart thumps wildly in my chest. âDo you think Archer would be willing to change filming locations?â
âTo where?â
âLake Wisteria.â
Lily shoots me a thumbs-up.
I continue, âThey have tons of historic houses here, so the content would be the same, but I would be able to move back home.â
Jamie pauses for a moment, and my lungs stop working in anticipation.
âI donât know. That wasnât part of the original pitch, and they already have crews set up in San Francisco for their other shows, so there is a high chance theyâll say no.â
My excitement dies. âOh. I understand.â
âThat being said, let me see what I can do.â
âYouâll ask?â My pitch rises.
âYes, but I canât guarantee they will say yes.â
Excitement replaces the dreadful worry that was choking me. âWould it help for me to take some videos of the properties around here? Maybe show them a few projects Iâve been working on? Lake Wisteria and the surrounding towns are full of houses begging to be restored, plus the locals would make for entertaining TV.â
âIâll reach out to my contact and see what they have to say.â
âThanks, Jamie! Youâre the best.â
Her laugh is the last thing I hear before she hangs up.
âYou did it!â Lily throws her arms around me.
I return her hug with one of my own, pouring every ounce of love and admiration I have for my sister into it.
While I had considered asking about filming a show here, I may have never worked up the courage if it werenât for Lily pushing me to try.
Donât get your hopes up.
Too late.
