Chapter 12
Wife
Chapter
âSo what if weâre getting divorced? Didnât you say you see me as a
brother?â Theodore said.
âSince I see you as a brother, we shouldnât be this intimate. Itâs inappropriate,â Rosalie countered.
Suddenly, an elderly voice rang out, âWhatâs going on? Whoâs being inappropriate?â
They turned to see Rebecca leaning on her cane, being assisted by the butler as she approached. @
âLook at you two. Youâre not even inside the house yet and are already. hugging so tightly. Thatâs really inappropriate,â Rebecca remarked.
In fact, she was actually delighted to see her grandson and granddaughterâinâlaw being so affectionate.
Rosalie immediately broke free from Theodoreâs embrace and went to Rebeccaâs side.
âGrandma, why are you out so late?â she asked, holding the older womanâs arm. â
Judging from Rebeccaâs behavior, it seemed she hadnât heard Rosalie and Theodore talking about their divorce earlier. Otherwise, she wouldnât be so calm.
âI was bored, so I came to see if Theo really took you out for your birthday,â Rebecca said.
She had been a bit skeptical about her grandson, so she came to check herself.
âOh, you two were supposed to be out, werenât you? back?

Rebecca asked, puzzled
had enough fun outside and decided to come back home. Home is always better than anywhere else, Rosalie replied, quickly
providing a reasonable excuse.
âThatâs true,â Rebecca said as she patted Rosalieâs hand. âNowhereâs
better than home. No matter what happens, always remember to
come home.â
Rebecca motioned for Theodore to come closer. When he did, she frowned. âHow much have you had to drink?â
âGrandma, itâs my birthday today, so I let him have a few extra drinks. Itâs all my fault,â Rosalie interjected.
âOh, child. Why do you always take the blame for everything? Iâm sure heâs the one who couldnât hold back from drinking.â
Rebeccaâs cold gaze shifted to Theodore, but he remained silent, his gaze fixed on Rosalie. Noticing her grandsonâs subtle glance at her granddaughterâinâlaw, a smile played at the corners of the old womanâs mouth.
She took Theodoreâs hand and placed it on the back of Rosalieâs hand. âTheo and Rose, seeing you two being so affectionate makes me feel relieved. As long as you two are together, this is home. Without either of you, itâs not home. Do you understand?â
Rosalieâs nose tingled as she fought back tears and nodded vigorously. âYes, Grandma, I understand.â
âAlright then, I wonât disturb you two anymore. Iâll head back now. Enjoy your time together. By the way, I got you a gift. Itâs in your room.
Go take a look when you get a chance,â Rebecca said, feeling
reassured after seeing them getting along.
Rebecca had been feeling uneasy these past few days, as if

something was about to happen to Theodore and Rebecca, so she was keeping a close eye on them.
âGrandma, why donât you stay here tonight?â Rosalie suggested.
âNo need. My place is not far anyway. The driver is waiting. Iâll head off first. You two take care of yourselves,â Rebecca said, patting their hands before leaving with the butlerâs support.
The two of them watched Rebeccaâs car until it disappeared from sight.
Rosalie was about to leave when she noticed Theodore struggling to stand steadily, so she went to support him. Theodore instinctively wrapped his arm around her waist and leaned weakly against her.
Once in the room, Rosalie helped Theodore sit on the edge of the bed, then went into the bathroom.
After a while, she emerged and said, âIâve prepared a bath for you. Wash up and get some rest.â
Theodore looked up and stared at her but remained silent for a while.
Rosalie approached him and said, âYou should go take a bath first. Iâll go to the kitchen and make you some soup. Itâll help you feel better since you drank so much.â
Even though they were getting a divorce, Rosalie couldnât bring herself to stop caring for him. As she was about to leave, Theodore suddenly grabbed her arm.
