Chapter 121
Wife
Chapter 121
Theodoreâs warm breath brushed against Rosalieâs cheek, making it hard for her to breathe. She blushed and turned her head away to avoid his breath, her heart racing.
âDo you even know what youâre saying?â
He was probably drunk.
Theodoreâs alcoholâladen breath wafted over her face. He was indeed drunk, but it was a fuzzy kind of drunk. His consciousness still clear.
âI know what Iâm saying. The real question is, do you know what -youâre saying? I can practically smell how jealous you are.â
He chuckled lightly, his eyes looking at her as if she were a child.
âWhoâs jealous?â Rosalie pushed against his chest forcefully. âLet go of me. Iâm not jealous because of you! If you want to help her change clothes, go ahead. Itâs none of my business.â
After all, she was about to divorce this man.
âIf itâs none of your business, why bring it up? And why mimic her words only to say youâre not jealous now?â
He would be damned if she wasnât jealous. Her eyes were almost tearing up from how bitter she was acting.
âI just donât understand what youâre up to. You clearly want a divorce, but you waste time with Cynthia. Plus, you still havenât told her the truth,â Rosalie argued logically.
Theodore stared at her in silence for a moment. âI just donât want to disappoint her. What if something unexpected happens?â
âExactly. Didnât that already happen? You were delayed at work, and

then you went to the hospital to be with Cynthia, wasting even more time. Work stuff is understandable since itâs out of your control. But with Cynthia, thereâs probably someone taking care of her. Why bother rushing there? If you had come earlier, maybe youâd have the resident register by now.â
Rosalie really couldnât comprehend Theodoreâs actions. At such an important moment, he actually went to Cynthiaâs side.
Theodore suddenly chuckled, his large hand gripping her chin lightly. â Donât worry. The divorce will definitely happen. It wonât take up too much of your time.â
There he went again saying she was worried. What did he know about her being worried?
But Rosalie couldnât be bothered to explain further. She crouched down, and slipped out of his embrace.
Theodoreâs arms were empty now, his hands bracing against the wall. He sighed, then lowered his hands and stumbled into the bathroom.
Back in the dining room, Rebecca asked, âRose, is everything okay between you and Theo?â
She seemed to sense some subtle tension between them.
Rosalie sat down, her expression unreadable. âThereâs nothing wrong between me and Theo, Grandma. Why do you ask?â
The old lady thought back to what Theodore had said after Rosalie left, then looked at Rosalieâs indifferent expression now.
She smiled, and said, âItâs nothing. But if Theo ever mistreats you or if anything feels off, you must tell me, okay?
âDonât worry, Grandma. Theo treats me really well.â
Rebecca nodded, and didnât say much more,

Not long after, Theodore returned and sat beside Rosalie. The three of them ate together, chatting and laughing.
Rosalie did her best to keep Rebecca happy, while Theodore didnât say much. He just kept drinking, and even finished a whole bottle of red wine.
By the end of lunch, Theodore was feeling the effects of the alcohol and was clearly intoxicated.
Rosalie had to help him to the guest room and lay him down on the bed. Theodore raised his hand to his forehead, his gaze blurry and unfocused.
âWhy did you drink so much? How are you going to steal the resident register like this?â Rosalie whispered in his ear.
Her voice was barely audible, as she was afraid someone might overhear.
Iâll go when I sober up,â he replied nonchalantly.
