Chapter 49
Wife
Chapter 49
Rosalie glanced at Rebecca, whose complexion seemed a bit off.
Worried that the tension between them might upset Rebecca, Rosalie quickly said, âMom, Dad, the food is getting cold. Letâs eat. Iâve made up my mind. I wonât pursue further studies. Iâll start looking for a job
soon.
Sydney and Wesley glanced at her. Since Rosalie had made a decision, they didnât say anything more. After all, they were about Rebecca too. Their argument wasnât really about Rosalieâs
decision, with the exact reasons being known only to them.

Theodore raised his wine glass and downed half of it in one gulp, his expression darkening. After that, he didnât speak much, remaining quiet. It was mostly Rosalie chatting with Rebecca, while Wesley and Sydney also remained silent. Yet, amidst the silence, there seemed to
be a hidden tension.
Rebecca wasnât foolish. She had seen her fair share of ups and
downs. How could she not sense that something was amiss? She just chose not to confront it.
Rosalie a good girl. Rebecca believed that the Spencer family
was
would be fine as long as Rosalie was around. Even when Rebecca
passed on one day, Rosalie could still take care of the household.
After dinner, everyone gathered for a chat.
Rebecca wasnât feeling well, especially after drinking wine during dinner, so she soon felt drowsy. Rosalie helped her upstairs to rest, personally assisting her with changing clothes and attending to her needs. Even biological daughters might not be this caring and
meticulous, which goes to show why Rebecca liked Rosalie so much.

half an hour later, Rosalie came downstairs and informed everyone, âGrandma has already gone to bed.â
It was getting late, so it was time for everyone to leave.
Sydney picked up her bag and stood up. âThen, Iâll be leaving now.
She left without even looking back.
âIâm leaving too,â said Wesley, before following after Sydney and softly saying, âIâll drive you.â
âNo need. I drove myself here,â Sydney declined directly.
âDidnât you drink alcohol? How can you drive?â
Wesley had specifically made sure to not drink alcohol so he could drive his wife home.
âThat was grape juice, not wine. Mr. Spencer, please keep your distance from me,â Sydney said mercilessly as she got into her car and drove off.
They were more like enemies than a married couple.
Wesley clenched his fists. His anger surged, unable to find an outlet. He could only kick a nearby tire fiercely, a stark contrast to his usual calm and dignified demeanor. Who doesnât lose their temper sometimes?
In the living room, only Rosalie and Theodore remained. There was an awkward tension between them.
âIâll drive myself home. What about you? Do you have a driver?â Rosalie asked.
Theodore had drunk quite a bit, and the scent of alcohol still lingered on him.

âIâll drive myself,â Theodore replied coldly before heading out.
Seeing him stagger as he walked, Rosalie hurried forward. âYouâve had too much to drink. You canât drive. Grandma has a driver here.
Where do you want him to take you?â
Upon hearing her ask where he wanted to go, Theodore sneered sarcastically and replied, âWhere do you think I should go at this hour? Home, of course.â
Rosalie thought he might be going to Cynthiaâs place⦠Wait, which home was he talking about? For him, Cynthiaâs place was also his home, right?
As Theodore moved to leave and opened the car door to sit in the driverâs seat, Rosalie quickly closed it and forcefully pulled him aside.
