Wife
Chapter 71
After work, Stephanie arrived at the hospital where Theodore was admitted. As a nurse herself, she knew how to get information and was able to smoothly find out Theodoreâs room number.
As Stephanie peeked through the crack of the slightly ajar door, she saw a woman crying by the manâs bedside.
âTheo, Iâm so worried about you. Does it hurt?â
âIâm fine, Cindy, please donât cry.â Theodore reached out to wipe. Cynthiaâs tears. âI told you not to come. Your health isnât good, remember? Why did you insist on coming?â
âItâs okay. I just want to be with you. Youâre hurt, and no oneâs here for you. Itâs so lonely. I know you didnât tell your family because you donât, want them to worry. If Iâm not here with you, who else will be?â
Cynthia was really good with words, knowing just what to say to touch someoneâs heart.
âYou were with me all day yesterday and drove back at night. You must have gotten into an accident because you were tired. Itâs my fault for being so weak. If you hadnât been taking care of me, this wouldnât have happened.â
âDonât blame yourself. You didnât choose to get sick. Please donât cry. I wonât be happy if you keep crying, Theodore said gently yet firmly.
Cynthia wiped her tears away. âOkay, I wonât cry.â
âCindy, I have something to tell you.â
âWhat is it?â
âYesterday, Rose signed the divorce papers.â

âReally?â Cynthia started crying again, but her tears were ones of joy this time. âShe finally signed? Then, you two willâ¦â
âMy dad tore up the divorce papers.â
âWhat?â Cynthia stiffened. âWhy?â
âMy dad came to the hospital, found the papers, and tore them up. Heâs really mad. Now, heâs trying everything to stop the divorce. Iâm worried he might hurt you so please wait a little longer, okay?â
âTheo, Iâve waited so long.â
Cynthia bit her lip hard, trying not to cry out loud, making herself appear more aggrieved and innocent.
âI know. Iâll get Rose to sign another copy of the divorce papers as soon as possible, but I have to consider my parents and
grandmother. I canât be too aggressive, or you might suffer. If they join forces and come after you together, I might not be able to protect you,â said Theodore, his eyes filled with concern.
He couldnât let what had happened previously repeat itself.
Though reluctant, Cynthia had no other choice but to nod obediently and say, âI understand. Itâs okay, Iâve waited for you for so long. A few more days wonât matter.â
Cynthia leaned into Theodoreâs embrace, nestling against him. âTheo, youâll marry me, wonât you? One day, Iâll become your wife, right?â
Theodore didnât hug her back, but didnât push her away either, letting Cynthia lean against him. After a moment of silence, he looked up and gently patted the back of her head.
âYes,â he said.
Stephanie was so enraged that her brain was pounding. She wanted to rush in and scold the pair of them, but forced herself to hold back
to avoid causing trouble for her go video she had recorded.
Suddenly, a manâs voice came from

âSorry, wrong room!â
She hurriedly brushed past Yuvan, r fire.
