Chapter 1041
Night of Destiny
âYou moron.â Captain Anderson jumped in the hole and hugged him. Using the last of his strength to
pat him on the back, Richard replied, âDonât worry, Captain Anderson. I-I wonât let your mission failâ¦â
He fainted after saying those words.
âCaptain Lloyd!â
âItâs fine. He just fainted. Carry him quickly to the car and bring him back.â Captain Anderson looked at
him being taken away, and remarked, âYou really are one tough young man.â
They kept Richard warm in the car while administering first aid to him, and the entire team was
discussing him. He had a vivid dream. It began when he drifted in and out of consciousness while
buried in snow, and this dream was the only thing keeping him alive. In the dream, a woman smiled
and kept calling out to him.
âRichard, you can do it! You must come back!â
âIâm waiting for you, Richard! Donât you die on me!â
âRichardâ¦â
It was the sound of Angelaâs voice. She would constantly smile at him, and at one moment, she would
cry and beg him to come to her. Her words gave him strength while he was buried deep beneath the
snow. Little by little, he climbed. Even though he was on the brink of death, he forced himself to stay
alive so that he could see her again. Whatever he promised her, he was going to keep it.
Midway through the drive, Richard experienced a high fever and fell unconscious. When he was in
such a state of delirium, everyone could hear him mumble, âAngela!â
Everyone can guess who Angela is. It must be the woman Richard loves! Did he only manage to crawl
out from the snow because this person gave him the strength he needed?
Meanwhile, at the vice-presidentâs office, the man who had just hung up the phone heaved a massive
sigh as if releasing some tension. He had just finished hearing about the most recent situation. The
news was both startling and reassuring. They had completed the mission and were on their way back.
Ren phoned Scarlet to deliver the news. He would not mention the unpleasant process; only a safe
return result will be reported.
âReally? Richard completed his mission and victoriously returned?â She shed joyful tears.
âYes. Richard finally got his wish.â
âThatâs great. Richard has finally avenged his father. I believe his heart can now be at peace. He is not
hurt, is he?â
âMostly superficial injuries. There isnât much other than a fracture in his leg.â
âWe donât even know how bad his injury is!â Scarlet still felt pain in her heart since she couldnât bear the
thought of her son being injured.
âIt is nothing. Heâll get treated when he returns.â
âRen, try to transfer him back! After all, he and Angela will soon be married. I donât want him to follow in
his fatherâs footsteps by constantly traveling the world.â
âOkay! Iâll work to get him transferred back within this year.â
Scarlet cheerfully replied, âThat will be great. If that happens, Iâll be there to keep him company. Weâve
grown apart since he hasnât been staying with me all these years.â She then questioned, âIs the
Translation Department also hiring?â
âIâm not too sure. Why?â
âRuka will be returning soon. So, I wanted to find out whether they were hiring. If they are, she can give
it a shot because she specializes in translation.â
âRuka has returned?â Ren asked, his voice solemn.
âYes. Sheâll be back by next week.
âOkay. Iâll ask around,â he calmly stated.
After the call ended, he contacted the Translation Department. âAre you planning to hire?â
