Chapter 138
Night of Destiny
Chapter 138
Leah curled her lips into an icy smirk. âIâve asked around about you before coming here today, Anastasia.
Youâre just a regular jewelry designer and a single mother. Youâll never be able to earn 10 million even if
you worked for the rest of your life.â
âWell, Iâm not a money-minded person. You need to stop using your wealth to shame others. Take your
money with you! If you like Nigel, thatâs between you and him. Donât drag me into. this.â Anastasia stood
up as she didnât want the other woman to look down on her.
Leah frowned as she took a good look at Anastasia. Although Anastasia was dressed in her work outfit,
she still looked extremely pretty and youthful. She had the typical sexy but innocent look that most men
fancied.
âI heard that you saved Nigel in the past, which is why Iâm being relatively nice to you. However, I also
want you to know that Nigelâs parents and mine have already made plans to matchmake Nigel and me.
You wonât be able to stop us, so you should just step back for your own good.â A confident look surfaced
in Leahâs eyes as she spread her red lips into a scornful smirk.
Anastasia wasnât sure if what Leah was doing was considered nice since Leah had used her money to
shame her the moment Leah entered her room. She was mocking me from the moment she walked in.
Even if I donât get married to Nigel, I wouldnât want him to marry a woman like her, Anastasia thought.
âIâm sorry, but Iâm really busy, Miss Hart. You can leave now if you have nothing else to say.â Anastasia
didnât want to waste time with her as there wasnât a point in doing so.
âYouâ¦â Leah felt anger boiling in her. Why isnât Anastasia taking this seriously? Isnât my wealth and
status enough to make her afraid of me?
âHow rich and powerful you are is your business, Miss Hart. I believe in a society governed by laws
where all people are equal. Youâre not above nor below me, so you have no right to use your money to
mess with my life.â Anastasia made a firm statement.
Leah was speechless once more. âYou⦠You must have lived under a rock this whole time, Anastasia.
Thatâs not how the world runs.â
Anastasiaâs expression darkened once more. âIf you wish to talk about how smart you are, please do it
somewhere else. Stop disturbing my work.â
Shame spread across Leahâs face. She didnât know how to deal with Anastasia since Anastasia didnât
seem threatened by her at all. âLeave Nigel, or Iâll do something bad to you.â Leah pressed her hands on
the table as she gave Anastasia a malicious glare.
Anastasia wasnât afraid and simply stood up to speak to her from the same eye level. âYou seem pretty
confident, Miss Hart. Why donât you tell me once you win Nigelâs heart? You seem pretty confident,
anyway. Thereâs no point in threatening me now.â
âYouâ¦â Leahâs face turned red as Anastasia walked to the door and opened it for her. âHere you go, Miss
Hart.â
Leah glared at Anastasia once more before she charged out and slammed the door behind her.
Anastasia let out a long sigh-she finally understood what Elliot meant when they last spoke at the dinner
party. Elliot had told her to stay away from Nigel, as he had said that she would offend other people if she
didnât do so. It seems like I just offended one of those people. Why did I go to that party at all? None of
this would happen if I didnât go to the event.
Anastasia had just returned to her seat when her phone rang. It was a call from her father. âHey, Dad.â
âAre you free, Anastasia? I want you to go somewhere with me,â Francis said.
âIs it something important, Dad?â
âUm, itâll be helpful when you manage a company in the future. Iâm reaching your office in a while. You
should take the rest of the day off and come with me!â he ordered firmly.
âBut Dad, I.â she protested.
âThis is a good opportunity, Anastasia. I donât want you to miss out on this. Come down!â he said. again.
She took a look at the time. It was 2.50PM, and she had just sent her drafts to Felicia, so she didnât have
much left to do. Eventually, she gave Felicia a call. âIâd like to take the rest of the day off, Felicia.â
After applying for her half-day off, she grabbed her bag and headed downstairs.
Meanwhile, Rey looked at the man who was screening through documents in the presidentâs office.
âPresident Presgrave, Mr. Lehmann took over the presidential role this time, but he seems to have his
own contact when it comes to building materials. I think you might need to go there to greet them on your
own.â
