Chapter 234
Night of Destiny
Chapter 234 Anastasiaâs Guts
âAre you sure your husband is fine with you treating me to a meal, Anastasia?â Oliver asked in
embarrassment.
It was then that Anastasia realized she didnât tell Oliver about herself. Thus, she smiled and replied, âI
donât have a husband. Iâm a single mother.â
Although Oliver had long had a feeling that Anastasia was a single mother, he was still surprised when
he heard the lady admitting that by herself. âIsnât the man I saw in your house last night your husband?â
âOh, no. Of course not. He⦠is just a friend of mine.â Anastasia refused to reveal Elliotâs identity, but
Oliver was sure about what he saw. After all, he could still remember Elliotâs menacing gaze the night
before, as if he was a beast that wanted to devour him alive. Thus, he was sure that Elliot was
Anastasiaâs admirer.
âSince weâre living so close to each other, please donât forget to tell me what you need, Anastasia.â Oliver
scratched his head, enchanted by Anastasiaâs pretty looks as he considered her a beauty, although she
was already a mother.
In fact, when Oliver first laid eyes on Anastasia, he was deeply attracted by her elegance and
gracefulness. After all, a charming lady like Anastasia was most attractive to men who hardly ever
socialized.
âAlright. By the way, what time do you go to work? Would you like me to give you a ride to work?
Because that should also help you save some money on traveling,â Anastasia asked.
Oliverâs eyes lightened up as he happily smiled and replied, âSure, but Iâll either pay for your fuel or
according to the mileage traveled.â
Anastasia laughed it off and said, âNo need for that. Iâm driving to work anyway, so it causes me no
trouble to pick you up along the way.â
âNo way. Youâre putting me in a tough position to accept your offer.â Oliver insisted that he pay for her car
fuel.
âAlright then, pay for me once every month when I gas up my car.â
âWell, Iâll pay for your fuel then.â Oliver insisted.
Anastasia smiled and said, âSure, when we happen to stop by a gas station.â
Thinking the chances of them stopping by the petrol station were slim, Anastasia was willing to give
Oliver a ride to work because she wanted to have some company so that she wouldnât feel bored.
At that moment, Anastasiaâs phone, which was connected to her carâs audio, rang, whereupon the
callerâs name made her heart sink when she saw it. Seriously, Elliot? Why are you calling me? Unwilling
to answer the call, she let her phone ring while Oliver caught a glimpse of the callerâs nameâPresident
Presgrave.
âIs he your boss?â
âYeah, he is.â
âHurry up and answer the call, then.â Oliver felt worried about Anastasia.
Thus, Anastasia showed Oliver a quiet gesture and picked up the call. âHello, President Presgrave.
Whatâs the matter?â
âWhere is your car?â The manâs magnetic voice reverberated in the carâs interior.
âItâs with me. Iâm on my way to pick up my son now, so if there is nothing important..â
âWatch out, Anastasia!â Oliver shouted out because Anastasiaâs car was about to crash into another car.
Therefore, Anastasia applied an emergency brake, realizing that she must not let herself get distracted
when driving.
âWhoâs the man in your car?â The caller questioned Anastasia, his voice echoing in the car.
âIâm driving now, President Presgrave, so itâs not really a good time for me to talk now. Bye.â Anastasia
eventually lost her patience and told the man that she was about to hang up the call.
In the meantime, Oliver was puzzled by what was going on, as he couldnât help but wonder about the
relationship between Anastasia and her boss. Why is her boss so angry after he heard my voice?
âAnastasia, if you ever dare toâ¦â Before Elliot could finish his sentence, Anastasia went ahead and hung
up on the former, only to receive another call from the man. Just when Oliver was nervously wondering
why her boss was calling again, she heard Anastasiaâs reply that was about to surprise him. âDonât
bother picking it up. Just let it ring.â
Oliver was speechlessly stunned upon hearing Anastasiaâs words but was impressed by her courage to
let her bossâ call go unanswered. His respect for her grew greater when she subsequently switched her
phone to silent mode.
In the meantime, Elliot was seen with a darkened gaze in the basement car park. I was only a few
minutes late, and that lady is now gone with another man in her car. Whoâs that man, by the way? Why is
he calling her Anastasia instead of Miss Tillman like she is his⦠Whatâs worse is that she had the guts to
hang up my call. Did I interrupt her affair with another man? At the thought of that, Elliot clenched his
fists, feeling jealous of the man who was with Anastasia as it seemed to him that Oliver was having a
good time with the woman he loved, just like he did earlier that afternoon.
Overwhelmed by his jealousy, he began to feel restless and uneasy.
