Chapter 721
Night of Destiny
Drake asked, âMr. Weiss, why are you giving my company back to me all of a sudden? What are you up to?â He didnât believe that this man had no ax
to grind.
Arthur looked back at him with a smile. âIâm not up to anything, Mr. Goodwin. Iâm just succumbing to my conscience. And besides, the management
model of your company isnât something that Iâm good at, so Iâm afraid of screwing it up.
âJust who the hell are you? Why couldnât I find any information about you in the country?â Drake was very curious about Arthurâs mysterious identity as
well.
âDonât worry, Mr. Goodwin. Iâm not a bad guy. My family lives abroad, but my ancestors are from here,â Arthur replied earnestly.
Drake was still worried, though. He asked, âSophia has lost your family heirloom and may not be able to recover it for the rest of her life. Will you hurt
her because of that?â
âSophia has told me about the loss of my family heirloom. Iâll try my best to search for it in the future, and I wonât blame it on her anymore,â Arthur
promised calmly.
Drake was dumbfounded right away. This guyâs been boiling with rage in the beginning, so what makes him so calm and composed right now? Heâs
taken my company away because of a family heirloom, and now, not only is he giving the company back to me, but he also decides not to hold Sophia
responsible. Why? Anyway, this is a good thing for the Goodwins, he thought. âReally?â he asked with a frown.
Arthur nodded. âThatâs right, Mr. Goodwin. I just need her to cooperate with me in searching for my
family heirloom in the future.â
Drake turned pale at once. âDo you have an evil intent against Sophia?â
Arthur shook his head earnestly. âI just want to be friends with her. Iâve got nothing else in mind.â
Drake heaved a sigh of relief. He didnât like this guy to be his future son-in-law. It was obvious at a
glance from the latterâs capricious moods and unpredictable behavior that he had to be some rich
dandy spoiled rotten by his family.
With that, Drake took over his own company with all his shares returned to him. Moreover, he found
that his company had won a few good bids after he let Arthur manage it, which would at least secure its
profits for the next two years.
Sophia was sorting out documents at work when she received a phone call from her father. âWhat? Mr.
Weiss returned the company to you?â she asked in shock.
âThatâs right. Sophia, did he make any unreasonable demands on you?â Drake asked with concern.
âN-No, he didnât. Weâre just friends.â Sophia hurriedly clarified the matter. Nevertheless, the two kisses
she had had with Arthur last time crossed her mind. Still, itâs just a kiss! It doesnât count as anything,
right? she thought.
âThatâs good. Just stay away from that guy in the future. Heâs too dangerous.â
âI know that, Dad.â
Drake immediately began to feel sorry for his daughter. âWhy donât you quit your job? Donât be too hard
on yourself.â
Sophia didnât want to quit the job, though. âNo, Dad. I donât want to quit this job. I like this job very
much, and besides, my boss is very nice to me.â
âAlright then. Donât overwork yourself. Iâll make money for our family.â
âThe same goes for you, Dad. Donât overwork yourself.â
After hanging up the phone, Sophia breathed a soft sigh of relief, though there were a lot of things that came into her mind. Arthur seems to have
become a different person now, she thought. Just then, her cell phone beeped with an incoming message, which she opened to reveal a simple text. It
read, âLetâs eat together at noon.â The text was sent by Arthur, and it wasnât an invitation, but a notification.
Sophia bit her lower lip. She had promised Martha not to have any contact with Arthur anymore, but he had just returned her familyâs company to her
father. Should I treat him to a meal as a token of my gratitude? âAlright, itâs my treat,â she texted, deciding to end their relationship after the meal.
âOK. Iâll wait for you outside the Presgrave Groupâs entrance.â
âOK,â Sophia replied; she then checked the time and realized that it was time for lunch. At 11:30 AM, she stepped into the Presgrave Groupâs lobby.
Just as she was hurrying toward the entrance with her head down, she accidentally bumped into someone, whose chest was so sturdy that it hurt her
nose. She hissed in pain before she heard a deep male voice snort overhead. âWhat a clumsy girl,â it said.
Sophiaâs eyes widened. F*ck, itâs him.
Arthur was waiting for her on the couch in the lobby when he saw her rushing all the way out of the elevator. He wanted to go over and greet her, but
she bumped right into him instead.
