Chapter 770
Night of Destiny
âAre you really sure you want to eat here? It looks pretty expensive,â Sophia whispered.
Arthur couldnât help but chuckle to himself upon hearing so. âWhatâs up? Are you already starting to
think about my spending when you have yet to become my wife?â
After a splitâsecond stump, Sophia rolled her eyes at him while smiling. âYes, weâre spending your
money, but it still pains me to see you spending like this. Iâm worried youâll use up all of your money.â
Arthur felt somewhat speechless, for this young woman really knew nothing about his ancestry. Of
course, he had no plans of telling her now either. âDonât worry. Itâs not a big deal even if we eat here
every day.â
Right when Sophia was enjoying her meal, her ringtone suddenly sounded like an incantation. She
jolted upon seeing the caller ID as it was her mother.
âIâm going to have to take this, but donât make a sound, okay? Itâs my mom,â explained Sophia as she
hushed the man sitting across from her.
Arthur nodded in reply and kept quiet, not wanting to cause her any trouble.
She answered the call. âHey, Mom.â
âSophia, where are you right now? Come home this instant. Your dad and I need to speak to you
urgently.â
âWhat is it? Are you okay, Mom? Is it Dad?â Sophia grew concerned.
âNothing happened to us. We just have something urgent to talk to you about. Come home quickly.
Weâre waiting for you at home.â
âOkay. Iâll come home at 2.00PM, alright?â
âSure. You have to come home, get it?â Emma ordered.
She didnât mention anything about Sophiaâs relationship with Arthur, for she knew the two were
together as they spoke. Emma and Drake just wanted to keep Sophia in line. As for others, there was
nothing they could do. â
âMy mom wants me to go home for a bit.â
âAlright, Iâll send you home later.â
âNo, itâs fine. Iâll drive. Iâll drop you off at my place first.â Sophia planned to hide
Arthur for fear that her parents would discover him.
âSophia, I think we should plan a date to meet your parents.â Arthur was more than ready to face her
parents.
âLetâs not do that just yet. Iâll find out what they think about it first.â After all, she knew all too well how
her parents thought of Arthur.
After finishing their meal, she dropped him off at her place before heading to her parents
During the journey, she kept wondering if something had happened for her mom and dad to call her
home so urgently, so much so that she arrived without delay.
Right as she entered the living room, she found her parents sitting gravely on the couch, looking like
they were expecting to see her home. In fact, it looked as though they had been waiting long.
âMom, Dad, what is it?â Sophia couldnât help feeling apprehensive. It had been a long time since she
last saw this kind of expression on her parents. They didnât even pull · this countenance when she
made a huge mistake as a child.
âCome here, Sophia,â Emma called out to her sternly. âWe have something to ask you.â
Sophia instantly tensed up as she walked over and sat across from them. Suddenly, Drake slammed
his hand on the armrest. âTell me the truth, Sophia. Are you living with that guy named Weiss at your
place?â
Sophia still wasnât mentally prepared when she heard her parents exposing her affair with Arthur and
her face flushed in an instant, not daring to look straight into her parentsâ eyes. âHow did you guys find
out?â
Livid, Emma went up to Sophia and wanted to give her a good beating. Ultimately, she couldnât bring
herself to do so, letting her arm hang midâair for a few seconds before lowering it. âWhat is up with
you? There are so many good men out there; why do you have to be with that dude? Has his good
looks made you chuck your rationality out the window?!â
Seeing that things were now out in the open, Sophia knew she could only admit it. âThatâs right, Mom
and Dad. Weâre dating.â
âAre you not at all aware of what sort of person he is?! Itâs so blindly obvious that heâs from a shady
background. Who knows, he might be a money launderer or even someone from the underworld. No
good will come out of this if you date someone like him.â Emma was livid with oncoming tears. She
couldnât believe the daughter she had raised so assiduously was lured away by some man so easily.
