Chapter 17

chapter 17- a safe?

the witch and her beta mate

Sienna p.o.v.

It's the next morning and part of me is dreading it but the other part of me just wants it to be over and done with.

I got up and got ready and decided to head straight to where my mothers office was. As I walked in I could see the place was un-touched.

I sighed and decided I would start digging through a few things. To be honest I never really seen much.

That was until I decided to start walking towards the door ready to call for rachel. As I started walking I realised something looked strange.

Near the window there was a weird rug. It kind of looked out of place to be honest. I have been in my mothers office a few times but I have never actually looked around. I was never allowed to and never even had the chance.

Something was telling me to walk over to the rug so that's exactly what I did. When I pulled the rug up I notice there was a safe. I searched around for a key but found nothing.

I got up and searched through her draws but yet again came across nothing. That's all I did for the next 15 minutes, to try and find this key.

I sighed but decided to have a look later. Right now I have other things I need to sort out.

I walked out the room and noticed Rachel was sat at her office outside what is now my office.

"Rachel." I called out.

Her head shot to me and she instantly stood up and bowed her head.

"Yes head coven?" She asked a little shakily.

I mean yes I spoke loudly but only because I did not realize how echoey it was here.

"Can you come to my office please." I asked.

"Of course." She said grabbing her pen and notebook.

I frowned a little confused but didn't question it and walked back into the office sitting down on the chair.

She walked in and stood away from the desk.

"You can sit down if you like. Would you like a drink? You look a bit pale Rachael?." I asked concerned.

She looked as though she did not know how to answer. I sighed and grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge my mom had always had in her office and passed it to her.

"Thank you head coven." She said softly.

"Sienna. You can still call me sienna." I spoke softly.

"Right. Sorry I forgot." She said.

"You do not need to be worried rachel you have done nothing wrong. I actually asked you in here to ask you a few questions." I said.

"Right. Anything I can help you with." She said.

"I want to talk to you about my mom." I said and noticed how she stiffened.

"You do not have to worry. I can tell she never treat you friendly. I just wanted you to know that I am not like that. I- I know I acted abit Cold but I will be honest and tell you it was because I was scared of my mom as well. I'm nothing like her though Rachael and I want you to know that you can come to me over anything. I would like to keep you as my assistant if you do not mind because you know a lot more stuff about how she ran certain things then anyone else does." I spoke softly.

I looked at racheal and I could see the tears running down her eyes.

She cleared her throat before speaking.

"Thank you so much.  I never expected that. She was very tough and certain things I was not allowed to know about. No one was to be honest. she would scream a lot in my face and sometimes grab me by my throat against the wall but that was all really. I guess it just made me really wary. It could have been over me not having her coffee right or being a minute late. A few times it was over me not moving into her office quick enough. I guess it depended what mood she was In for how she acted towards me." Rachel spoke with a shiver running down her spine.

I nodded my head but my heart clenched for her.

"What made you stay as her assistant." I asked.

"The money more then anything. That and I feared how she would react if I quit." She spoke honestly.

I nodded my head in understanding.

"When you say money how do you mean? There are a lot of other jobs." I said.

Rachel nodded her head.

"I know but this was the most money that was available. I get $1,500  a month for working here. The others where only around $600  a month and some even under for part time. I only work monday to saturday here but it's better then the monday to friday with only $600 a month. My mother is sick and her medicine costs $100  per week. That's $400 a month and then on top of that getting food go be able eat as well as our rent. I am still only scraping it now." Rachel spoke so sadly it made my heart hurt for her.

"How is everyone living off all that? Is that seriously what she has set up for you all? How is everyone surviving." I asked shocked and disgusted.

"My job is one of the highest paid  there is not really any other jobs that get this much money sienna. Did you really not know this?" Rachel asked suprised.

"I had no idea. That needs to change. From now on you will be getting 2 grand a month. That is an extra $500 on top so I really hope that helps you out. As for the rest I will start looking into it." I said softly.

"Wh- what really? Thank you. Thank you so much sienna you do not understand how much that will help us all out not just me and my family but everyone in the coven. So many of us will be able to pay our debts off." She spoke so appreciative and happily it made me smile.

"Anything to help my coven. I do not want my coven feeling stuck or helpless. " I said softly.

"Thank you. Is there anything else you wanted from me or wanted to know." She asked.

"Actually yes. Did you know about that safe under the carpet?" I asked.

"I did yes but no one was ever allowed to go near it. I only knew because I accidental walked In quicker then she thought when she shouted me and watched as she put the rug down." She said softly.

"Did you see where she put the key?" I asked.

"Over there in the draw." She said softly.

I sighed and nodded. I already looked and seen nothing.

"I'm guessing you already looked." Rachel said.

I nodded my head.

"It will be in there if she has not got it on her. Your mom loved secrets and stuff. Maybe she has hidden it in the draw." Rachel said shrugging.

"You seem to really know my mom."  I said with a raised eyebrow.

"I am observant. I might have only been her assistant nearly a year but once you start to understand her ways a little you can read her like a book." Rachel said with a wink making me let out a laugh. I actually really like rachel. Maybe we can be friends.

"Anything else?" She asked with a smile.

"Just one more thing. I would like you to set a meeting with the council anytime today will be good for me. If you do not mind I would like you to be in the meeting with me." I said softly.

"If course- wait what me? You want me in the meeting?" She asked suprised.

"Is that going to be a problem?" I asked rasinng an eyebrow a little confused.

"No of course not. Sorry I have just never met the council." She spoke with a blush.

I let out a small laugh and nodded.

Its alright." I said softly.

With that being said Rachel went to do as I asked and I sat and started looking more through my mothers office.

The more I'm thinking about it the more I want to Help my coven out. So an I really doing the right thing in leaving this coven?
