My Neighbor Is A........DADDY!???

Friday, April.23----9:45pm(when they get to the beach, an hour after eating)----10 degrees celsius

On our drive to the beach, I kept catching Marcus glancing at me.

He really does like me, doesn't he?

I decided to break the comfortable silence, "Which beach are we going to?"

In our small town, there were only three beaches to go to. It was too dark and there were too many trees to really see any signs of where we were.

"We're going to Charlton Beach." He responded, rather quickly I might add.

"Oh. Isn't that rumored to be the most romantic beach in this town?" I asked, a flirty smirk displaced on my face.

"It is? I had no idea." He said playfully. Not even trying to even sound decently surprised.

I giggled. "You're so lame!" I exclaimed in-between my fit of giggles.

He smirked and said, "Depending on how long we're at the beach, I have another surprise for you."

"Oh really? You really are trying to win me over, Mr.Harrison."

"Maybe I am. Or maybe this is just how I am." His smirk never faultering.

We suddenly stopped pulled into a parking lot on top of a cliff. The cliff over looked the water. If you wanted to go to the beach down below, you had to go down the road a little bit, where the stairs were. But, if you wanted to just say on the cliff, where the light house and picnic tables were, then you stayed in that spot. It was one of the top places in town to go star-gazing or watch the sunrise/set.

I didn't even wait for Marcus to turn the car off before I jumped out and ran to the edge of the cliff. "It's beautiful here." I exclaimed, completely in awe. I turned around to see Marcus holding a blanket and a picnic basket, a light blush and handsome, loving smile tugging on his lips.

"I thought you would like it here. I brought some...things." He said the last sentence while holding up the items in his hands.

After we set up the blanket on the grass over-looking the cliff, we began to sit down on it.

I rested my head on Marcus's shoulder as he took my hand in his, entwining our fingers together.

We were watching the stars and the water, while I pointed out different constillations in the sky. I pointed toward the sky as I said, "That's Aquarius. Ooo, that's Cygnus, and that's Canis Major." I looked at Marcus, who was staring at me. "Sorry. I was nerding out."

"No. Don't apologise, love. I'm very happy that you have something you're passionate about. Not many people can say that they have something they're passionate about." Marcus, reassured me.

"How do you do that?" I asked.

He replied, confusion laced in his tone, "What do you mean, angel?" He lightly squeezed my hand, sending butterflies through my entire body.

"It's just, you always know exactly what to say. How do you do that?" I asked, curiosity evident in my words.

"I don't know. My mother, I guess. I was a curious child and always asked a lot of questions and I always ran off and explored. She had talked to me a lot growing up. You'll probably realize soon, she is very wise." I was listening carefully to every single word that left his lips.

"Wow. You're mother sounds amazing. What about your father? What's he like?" I curiously asked him.

"Well, Casey and I, we're donor babies. My mom was married at one point though. To a man. It was an arranged marriage. My mom's parents are very homophobic and religious. Also rich, of course. But, when my mom got married, she was straight-forward with her husband and he was very supportive. When they decided to get divorced, he said he would be a donor for my mother so she could have kids. He never wanted children but he wanted her to be happy. So, he's technically my father. I mean, I met him last year, he's honestly an amazing guy but he was honest that he didn't want to raise me. I was-am-okay with that. It's complicated, but that's my family. I call him Uncle Jack."

He chuckled with the last bit.

"Wow. That's honestly amazing. Your mom is very lucky and strong." I complimented.

He suddenly hugged me and I immediately squeezed him back. We stayed like that for a few minutes, just enjoying each other's embrace and warmth.

"I think we should get going now." He said, as he gently let go of me.

"Ya. I think we should." I replied.

With that, we began the long drive back home.
