Lipstick Stains

The weekend went by and I told no one of what happened, well other than my parents who had to hear me complain for over an hour.

Currently, I was heading to Ms Flynn's class when Rei stopped me. He looked a bit flustered, his eyes darting around before finally making contact with mine.

"What's up?"  I asked.  He pressed his finger to his lips, grabbed my hand, pulling me around the corner and near to the storage closet. I tugged my arm from his grip. "What's with you?"

"Sorry -  I just wanted to ask you something." He said.

"Oh no its okay, what's wrong?"  I replied.

"I - can I talk with you alone about something?"  He asked. I froze and ever since the weekend I've become even more paranoid about the people around me.  After all, I was nearly shot twice.

"What is it about?"  I asked, "You wanna talk now? Because I -"

"No, tomorrow,  after school, if that's okay,"  Rei responded.

"Alright,"  I replied, of course,I wouldn't go by myself to meet him.

"Okay, meet me in the park at 4:00 pm." I nodded. He smiled at me then as soon as I was about to reply I heard another voice.

"What are you two doing?"  Ms Flynn asked as she crossed her arms over her chest.  She glanced at me and then back to Rei.

"Nothing, he just needed help with something,"  I said quickly, assuring her that she had nothing to worry about.

"Alright, well get to class."  Ms Flynn gestured towards the door nearby. Rei nodded and headed off first.  I was about to walk when Ms Flynn grabbed my arm. "Don't find yourself alone with anyone you barely know."

"Okay okay."  I repeated the words before looking back at Rei.

"Even if you like him, he's not the one for you."  Ms Flynn said. I glanced at her.

"What do you mean?"  I asked as I pulled my arm out of her grip.

"I mean, guys are never who they say they are and most usually have ulterior motives to getting with someone like you."  She stated before walking away.

"Someone like me?" I muttered as I watched her leave.  What does she mean by that?

I sighed and walked to my next class.

After school I headed to the library to do some studying.  But surprisingly, the room was emptier than usual. I took a seat closer to the back of the place and took out my books to start studying.  The time spent there was rather productive, to say the least.

Yet as I was engrossed in my work, I felt an unusual presence.  I looked up and immediately made eye contact with Ms Flynn who was near the copying machine.  WHen she was finished she spotted me and walked over.

"What are you doing here? " I asked.

"Just doing some stuff." She muttered.  Her dark eyes scanning the place before finally looking down.

"That's a lie,"  I replied.

"Smart."  She huffed, "I saw someone odd come in the library right before so I followed them in  but now I can't seem to find the person."

I looked around, I don't remember seeing anyone come in.  But one thing I couldn't deny was the tension int he air.  I glanced back at Ms Flynn.  Her hand was in the pocket of her jacket, I looked down and saw that there was something bigger in her pocket.  That couldn't have been a gun.

"Maybe we should leave."  Ms Flynn said.

I began to pack up my stuff when I heard the click of a gun.  I looked up and felt something cold pressed to the back of my neck.

"Ms Flynn."  I said softly. I froze, body not able to move as I shut my eyes tightly.

"Shhh."  Ms Flynn said I felt her move to turn around and face the person who had the gun pressed to my neck.

"She's coming with me."  The culprit's grip on the weapon tightened as he grabbed my arm roughly.

"You don't want to do that."  Ms Flynn said. "This is kidnapping you know. And we're in a public place."

The gun dug deeper into my skin.

"You won't leave a place like this alive if you take her." Ms Flynn's tone changed.  She was stern and her voice was deeper.  I'd never heard her talk this way before.

"Get up."  The man said as he tugged my arm harder.  I winced at the pain and stood up from my chair.

"She's coming with me and if you try anything I'll blow your brains out."  The man said.  He moved the gun from me and aimed it at Ms Flynn.  My eyes widened as I looked at her.  She remained expressionless.  Her hands still in her pocket.

"Take your hands out of your pocket."  He demanded.  He held on to my arm and named the gun at Ms Flynn.  She did as she was told and then took a step forward.

"Are you gonna shot me?"  She asked.

"I will if you don't- ah!"

The man yelled as Ms Flynn grabbed the gun.  How did she do it so quickly? I wasted no time.  I stomped down on the man's foot and pulled out of his grip.  I ran to Ms Flynn and stood behind her.  Now the tables were turned.  SHe held the gun and aimed it at him.

"Call the guard from outside. " She said.  I nodded.  I ran towards the door and shouted for help.  It took two minutes but when I returned with the guard the man was laying on the floor with Ms Flynn pointing the gun to him.

The security called for the police and the man was arrested.

I sat on the bench out side the police station, fiddling with my fingers as Ms Flynn sat next to me.

"Thank you." I said dryly.

"No problem."  She sighed, "I'm glad he didn't shoot."

That night Ms Flynn stayed with me since my parents hadn't returned from their trip yet.  It was odd because they were supposed to be back.  However, later that night I received a text explaining that something came up.

Things really changed.

How am I supposed to deal with all the things happening now?  Maybe I should just take a few days off from school.  That should help with things.  And so I decided to do just that.  For the next week, I would remain at home, with Ms Flynn checking on me every now and then.
