Sick Boys: Chapter 37
Sick Boys: A Dark Bully RH Romance (Spine Ridge University)
âPenelope,â Felix answers for me. âA friend.â
âPenelope who?â he asks.
âUh â¦â Fuck. âRichards.â
He narrows his eyes. âRichards. Hmm â¦â The man looks me up and down, tucking his hands into the pockets of his expensive suit. âInteresting.â He turns back to the boys. âWhy is she here?â
âBecause she was with us that night,â Dylan says, rolling a lighter between his index finger and thumb. âShe can vouch for us.â His eyes land on mine. âCanât you, Pen?â
âUm.â Iâm really confused whatâs going on here. âWhat?â
His fatherâs eyes narrow. âAre you being roped in to lie for these boys?â
âNo,â Alistair adds. âItâs the truth. You were at the bonfire near the Hot Springs too, the other night, werenât you? We were dancing.â
My eyes widen.
Oh fuck.
Theyâre using me as an alibi.
âYeah, I was with them. Why do you ask?â
The deanâs face is stone-cold, so much different from how Dylan behaves. âTwo boys from that Phantom frat went missing, and I need to know if theyâre involved.â He narrows his eyes at me. âAfter what happened with Nathan Reedâ¦â
Why do I feel like heâs trying to implicate me?
Fuck, how much does he know?
Dylan frowns. âI told you, we didnâtââ
âShhh!â His father interrupts him with a single finger. âI donât want to hear it. I already paid for the hospital expenses as well as the damage.â He adjusts his coat. âThe family chose not to sue the university. But it wonât regrow a lost limb. You should feel lucky money was all they wanted.â
I swallow. So he does know.
âWe already told you we had nothing to do with it,â Felix retorts, folding his arms. âNathanâs lying.â
âI donât fucking care whoâs lying,â the dean seethes. âThis ends now.â
When no one replies, he finally turns around and walks in my direction. âIf you value your time here at this university, youâd better stay away from these boys.â
A chill runs up and down my spine as the man marches past me and out the door.
âWow â¦â I mutter.
That man held a kind of power, not just in his stride but in his attitude as well.
Because there hasnât been anyone able to completely silence these boys, until now.
âTell me about it,â Dylan scoffs, jumping up from the couch.
âWhat the fuck was that about?â Felix suddenly blasts through the room at Dylan. âWhat the fuck did you tell your father?â
âNothing, I told you,â Dylan quips. âI donât fucking know how he knows. Maybe Nathan told his parents and they told my father.â
âHe threatened Pen, though,â Alistair adds. âIf he tries to implicate us, we can always throw it in his face. That would get him kicked out of here, and his parents wouldnât be too happy about that.â
âWhy do you think his father paid them off?â Felix says through gritted teeth. âItâs the only reason we got away after letting him live.â Now his eyes focus on mine. âWeâre in deep shit now, though.â
âWhat are you looking at me for?â I ask. âYou called me here, not the other way around.â
He gets up in my face. âWhat did you do last night?â
Iâm burning up just from the intense look in his eyes. âI was at a party.â
âWith them,â he says through gritted teeth.
âYou wouldnât help me. We found one of my sisterâs bullies.â
His nostrils flare. âI knew it.â He stares at Dylan and Alistair. âThose two Phantom boys ⦠it was you.â
Alistair throws his hands in the air. âIâm pleading the Fifth.â
Dylan turns on his lighter and fishes a smoke from his pocket, setting it ablaze. âWe made some fucking fireworks.â
Felix closes his eyes, rubbing them, but it wonât take away the fire literally emanating off his body. âYou killed them.â
âWell, one of them died, thatâs for sure,â I say. âThe other one just got pummeled in the face.â
But the lethal look in Felixâs eyes the moment he opens them instantly makes me regret it.
âDonât worry, Ali and I took care of it.â
âJust as they agreed they would, according to the deal we made,â I snide.
He tried to blame me for my sisterâs death and refused to find the real people responsible.
Felix leans in until heâs only a hairâs length away from my face. âSo you let them kill for you?â He points at Ali and Dylan.
Itâs almost as if he considers it an insult.
I swallow. âIt wasnât intentional.â
âWhy?â he growls.
âBecause Josh touched my sister,â I reply.
âJosh ⦠Josh Walton?â
âYes,â Dylan answers.
âHe admitted it to my face,â I continue, âand then tried to do it to me too.â
âI saved her,â Dylan says from the back. âYouâre welcome, by the way.â
Felixâs face twitches and he towers over me, then snorts. Shaking his head, he marches out the room. âI need a fucking drink.â
Wait, what? Heâs not running off, is he?
I follow him out of the library and straight into the same room we were in before with the bar and the pool table.
âFelix.â I try to draw his attention, but he keeps marching on until heâs at the bar.
âWhy are you running off?â Dylan asks, coming in right behind us with Alistair.
Felix grabs a glass and fills it with whiskey, chugging it down, then taking another.
âHand me one too,â Alistair says as he approaches the bar.
âFelix â¦â I mutter.
Felix slides him a glass and pours it in, but slams the bottle down so harshly it makes me jolt up and down.
âDonât,â he grits. âDonât say my name like it belongs to you.â
His eyes light on fire, a burning brighter than the night he tortured Nathan. And itâs making me hold in my breath.
âLike you say mine as though I belong to you?â I retort. âIâm still my own person, even with this deal weâve got going on.â
Alistair swiftly takes his glass off the bar and takes a sip.
âIs that why you had them kill for you?â Felix asks, his voice dark and heavy.
âShe didnât ask,â Dylan intervenes. âThose fuckers interrupted us when she was naked.â
âNaked?!â
The glass heâs holding shatters in his hand. Shards embed in his skin, but it doesnât seem to faze him.
His words come out through gritted teeth. âYou fucked her?â
Dylan makes a funny face. âWell ⦠she could take a whole lot more than just me.â
Felixâs blazing eyes settle on Alistair.
Alistair frowns, lowering his glass. âWait ⦠you didnât know?â
âBut you put that plug inside her,â Dylan says. âI thought you meant it as a gift.â
I turn to look at him, equal parts disgusted and intrigued theyâd consider me as a reward you could deliver to someone. âA gift?â
âThat was meant for me and me alone!â Felix says, storming at Dylan. âYou motherfucker, you fucked her without me?â
He grasps Dylan by the collar and lifts a fist.
âGet your hands off me,â Dylan barks.
âYou touched something that belongs to me.â
What?
âShe belongs to all of us,â Dylan replies. âThatâs the whole fucking point of that fucking agreement we have with her!â
âI allowed her to be shared,â Felix says, his voice booming through the room. âThat does not mean you can just go off and fuck her when Iâm not around.â
Is this ⦠what I think it is?
âWhat the fuck did you do with her?â Felix asks, threatening to hit him again.
âFelix, calm down,â Alistair says.
But Felix ignores him. âDid you stick your dick up her pussy? Did it feel good to fuck her when I wasnât even there?â
Oh my God. He wants me for himself.
Dylan smirks. âYou jealous?â
Felix punches him in the face, and I cover my mouth with my hand. âOh my God.â
âFuck you,â Felix growls, shoving Dylan away.
Fuck, they really are fighting over me. That wasnât supposed to happen.
âYeah, well fuck you too,â Dylan retorts, spitting the blood out in his face. âYou donât deserve her.â
âGuys, letâs not fight about this,â Alistair says. âI donât think itâs worth it.â
âYet you fucked her while I wasnât around too, didnât you?â Felix replies. âYouâre a part of the problem.â
âLast I checked, weâre all a part of this agreement, and she wanted us both,â Alistair says. âShame you donât like sharing. I do.â
Dylan snorts. âYou shouldâve seen her face when she came all over me and licked up Aliâs cum.â
My whole body flushes with heat just thinking about it.
âDonât,â Felix rasps, practically breathing fire.
âBut you werenât there,â Dylan adds.
âFor good reasons, it seems,â Alistair chimes in.
âWeâre not the problem here,â Dylan says, shoving a finger into Felixâs chest. âYou are.â
âIâll make you my fucking problem,â Felix growls.
âGuys,â I mutter.
But they pay no attention to me.
Dylan wipes the blood off his lip. âYouâd better give me a good fucking reason not to kick your fucking ass right now.â
âYou wanna try me?â Felix taunts, cracking his knuckles.
âGUYS. STOP!â I step between them and spread my arms, staring down Felix. âStop it.â
I mean as much as I enjoy three guys fighting over me, this is not going to help anyone.
Felix eyes me down for a second, and I contemplate hitting him where it hurts by telling him how fucking hard I came. But Iâm not gonna stoop that low.
âWe agreed I would do whatever you told me. All three of you. And in exchange, you would help me find everyone responsible for my sisterâs misery.â I swallow away the lump in my throat.
âAnd I did my part,â he replies, stepping closer. âUntil you ran away.â
âI went to the only people who would help me,â I retort.
He briefly eyes Dylan and Alistair again.
âHey, donât look at us. You were the one who chased her off.â
âDid you both forget she might be responsible for Eveâs death?â he says, his face contorting. âYou saw the fucking text message. You know about that fucking death pact she made with Eve.â
He walks to the cabinet and fishes out the diary Iâve been missing, holding it open on a specific page where I pasted a photo of me and my sister as a memorial.
He pulls it away, ripping off the glue that kept it all together, revealing only a part of the text I pasted inside. The last text she sent me.
Her final goodbye.
But her words are misconstrued. Butchered, because of the glue keeping part of the photo from coming off.
Iâve done everything thatâs been asked and more. Itâs never going to be enough. And I refuse to go through life ⦠broken. Split in half by a decision that wasnât mine to make.
So I will stop it now.
This bonfire near The Edge will be the last night spent at this godforsaken universityâ
Tears well up in my eyes seeing these words again. âYou donât know what youâre talking about.â
âYou put this in the diary, didnât you?â Felix asks. âLike a little piece of truth buried along with all the lies. Just like the death pact you made with your sister.â
âStop,â I hiss.
âIs it true?â Alistair asks as he approaches.
This is why they tormented me. Why Alistair and Dylan hung those posters. Why they tried to corner me in the stairwell. Why they chased me into the woods with those creepy masks.
Why Felix tried to break me.
I shake my head and rummage in my pocket to fish out my phone, then pull up my sisterâs face. God, I havenât seen her in such a long time that it hurts to look. But this needs to end now.
So I turn and show Dylan and Alistair the real text.
I canât do it anymore, sis. Please donât be mad at me. Iâve done everything I could and more. Itâs never going to be enough. And I refuse to go through life ⦠broken. Split in half by a decision that wasnât mine to make.
So I will stop it now.
This bonfire near The Edge will be the last night spent at this godforsaken university for me.
I love you, sis.
And whatever you do, donât ever get involved with those boys of the Skull & Serpent Society.
xoxo
Eve
Dylan reaches for my phone, and I let him take it so he can have a closer look.
âOh ⦠wow.â
Exactly.
âLet me see,â Alistair says, and he snatches the phone out of Dylanâs hands. âOh boy. Felix â¦â he mutters.
I turn to look at him, but all he does is stare nonchalantly, shaking his bloody hand like it means nothing to him.
âYou believed a lie,â I tell him to his face. âA lie you told yourself was true.â
