Sick Boys: Chapter 40
Sick Boys: A Dark Bully RH Romance (Spine Ridge University)
I zip up and march straight toward the door of the pool room with Dylan and Alistair barely on my tail after cleaning themselves up.
âFelix?â Penelope calls out as she crawls off the pool table and puts on her clothes. I hate having to ignore her, but right now, Iâve got bigger troubles.
âWhat are you doing?â Dylan calls. âFelix, where are you going?â
âIâm gonna talk to your fucking dad,â I reply, pushing past Jason Foley.
âWhoa, whoa.â Dylan runs in front of me and blocks the hallway. âYou canât just barge into his office.â
âWatch me,â I say through gritted teeth.
âWhy? What do you think you can even do?â
âStop him from getting the police involved,â I retort. âAli, Dylan, youâre coming with me.â
âWait, what?â Ali frowns. âFuck no, Iâm not going in there whenââ
I grab his collar. âYou were the ones who got us into this shit. Now youâre going to get us out of it.â
âHey, I was just following his lead.â Ali points at Dylan, who taps his feet and sighs.
âThanks, asshole,â Dylan says.
Ali shrugs. âWhat? Itâs the truth.â
âI donât fucking care who did it.â I shove him away. âBut I need this to disappear. Stat.â I ram my finger into Dylanâs chest. âNow youâre gonna tell me exactly what you did to that fucker.â
âWe nailed him to the ground,â Dylan says with a low voice, his face darkening. âAnd burned him.â
Penelope walks out of the pool room and watches us fight, the mere sight of her making me grind my teeth. âWas she there?â
âShe helped us do it,â Dylan says.
My blood thickens with anger. âAnd then what?â
âWell, we buried him,â Alistair replies. âAfter Pen left.â
âObviously not deep enough,â Dylan says, shrugging like itâs no big deal.
âWhat about the other one?â I snap my fingers. âThe dude you pummeled?â
Alistairâs eyes grow big. âI donât know. We just left him there.â
âHe wasnât moving,â Dylan adds.
I grasp him by the collar and seethe at him, âYou fucking idiot! One of those fuckers might have been alive and you didnât even fucking bother to tell me?â
âChill the fuck down, dude. He was bleeding from his ear when we left him. I didnât think heâd survive,â Dylan says through gritted teeth, and he grabs my hands and rips them off his body. âAnd if you wanted a fucking say in it, maybe you shouldâve been there.â
My nostrils flare as the thought of punching his gut crosses my mind.
But something in Penelopeâs eyes stops me from doing just that.
âCome with me,â I bark as I turn around and march out of the Skull & Serpent Society. âBoth of you.â
âIâm coming too,â Pen utters.
âStay in the house,â I growl at her.
âFuck that. If theyâre gonna interrogate people, I need to be there.â
I turn around to face her. âWhy? So you can rat us all out?â
She folds her arms. âSo we can align our stories and make sure none of us spills unnecessary info.â She tilts her head. âIn case you forgot, I was there too.â
Fuck, I almost forgot about that.
If anyone saw her there, sheâll be implicated too, and people will start to ask questions. And I donât know if she can handle it.
âDid anyone else see you guys with those two dudes?â I ask.
Dylan snorts. âOh, plenty. Though most ran off when the fight broke out.â
I roll my eyes and slap my hand against my forehead. âCould you have been any more unsafe?â
âWhat?â Dylan scoffs. âWhat was I supposed to do? Just let them casually walk off after telling me straight to my face they intended to fuck with Penelope?â
Fuck. Just the mere thought makes me want to rip this fucking decorative rifle off the wall and hunt down any motherfuckers who dared to lay a finger on either of them.
âCâmon,â I growl.
Several police cars drive onto the property, and the school seals the gates shut. Itâs been a long time since I last felt this uneasy.
Everyoneâs looking around at all the police cars being parked on school grounds, drawing quite a lot of attention as well as gossip.
Beyond the gates, several ambulances as well as a coroner are parked near Priory Forest. All the students flock near the gates to watch the scene unfold, and we run toward the front, pushing past most of the students until we can finally see whatâs going on.
âUh-oh,â Dylan mutters.
A body bag is lifted onto a stretcher.
Several students gasp in shock.
âFuck,â Alistair says, taking a deep breath. âToo late.â
A girl with a curly bun and bouncing tits pushes past the crowds, storming straight to Penelope, and grabs her arm. âPen, did you hear? They found a fucking body on the school grounds,â she says, but itâs only when her eyes travel to meet mine that she finally realizes whose company sheâs in. âOh â¦â
Pen throws me a quick glance before focusing on the girl. âThereâs the ambulance picking him up.â She points at the gates, and Kaylaâs eyes follow her finger.
Her face loses all color. âFuck, so itâs true.â
They both stare at the body as itâs hauled into the vehicle.
âWho is she?â I ask, narrowing my eyes.
âKayla,â Penelope sneers. âMy friend.â
She says it like I was about to cut the girl into thin strips.
âYouâre actually with them? I thought you said it was just a one-time thing,â Kayla whispers, but I can hear her. âI heard some rumors about a fight in the woods between ⦠them.â She eyes Dylan. âAnd you were there too.â
Penelopeâs whole face glows red, and Kayla sees too. She grabs Penâs arm and drags her away from the crowd, so I follow suit. âSo you were there? Did you see the actual fight?â She slaps her hand in front of her mouth. âOh my God, donât tell me youâre involved. I told you they were dangerous.â
I step between them, towering over the girl. âThatâs enough.â
Kaylaâs eyes flash between mine and Penelopeâs, but she doesnât budge. âIf you lay even a single hand on me, Iâm gonna rat you guys out like no tomorrow.â She grabs Penelopeâs hand from behind me. âAnd Iâll make sure sheâs protected from the likes of you.â
Sheâs got a lot of balls, thatâs for sure.
Dylan snorts. âItâs cute you think that threats work on us.â
I lean in. âI donât even need to lay a single hand on you.â
I flick my fingers.
âKay, I love you, but â¦â Penelope swiftly releases Kaylaâs grip and takes a step back. âItâs safer if I go with them.â
She frowns. âThose sick boys? Safe?â
âShe wants to be with us. Just like she chose to be our plaything,â I add with a smirk. âSo Iâm gonna give you one fucking second to turn around and walk away.â
Kaylaâs expression turns even more horrified. âOr what?â
âShoo,â I growl, my hand slowly drifting to the pocket where I keep my knife, but her eyes follow. âBefore I change my mind.â
Her whole body begins to shiver, and she suddenly bolts off toward her sorority, but not without throwing another glance at Pen.
âIâm sorry, Kay!â Pen yells after her. âYou didnât have to be that much of an asshole.â She punches me in the side so harshly my knees almost buck. âSheâs my fucking friend, and Iâm not gonna lose her because of your possessive ass.â
âShe was a threat, and I got rid of it,â I hiss back, grasping her by the hoodie. âDitch her.â
âOver my dead body.â
âSheâs a liability who knows too much,â I growl.
âI donât fucking care.â She folds her arms, despite the fact that Iâm gripping her clothes tightly. âI trust her.â
Grinding my teeth, I try to focus, but all I can focus on are those plump lips just begging me to show her who makes the fucking rules.
And something about that makes me irrationally angry.
Why do I fucking care so much?
âYou trust too easily,â I retort.
âI trusted you,â she says, momentarily catching me off guard.
She ⦠trusted me?
And I fucking broke that trust when I tried to go after her instead.
My nostrils flare. âAnd look where that got you.â
âFelix Rivera â¦â A stern voice makes me look up. âPut that girl down.â
Dean Caruso comes walking up to the crowd, and he doesnât seem the slightest bit amused.
As I place Pen back down on the ground, her whole body begins to tense, and even my veins pulse with adrenaline. But worst of all is the fact that the entire crowd is staring at us now.
Dean Caruso glares at all three of us. âFollow me.â
âWho? Him?â Dylan points at me like Iâm the one to blame for his murder.
His father snarls, âAll of you.â
Sighing, I glance at the boys before we follow him inside.
âBut we havenât gotten our stories straight yet,â Dylan says.
I shove my elbow into his side and whisper-growl, âShut up. People are listening.â
All around, people stare at us for all the wrong reasons as we walk toward the big building in the back and head inside under heavy scrutiny.
âWhatâs gonna happen? Is he gonna kick us out?â Pen asks.
When I glance at her over my shoulder, Aliâs hand snakes through hers, and it makes me want to fish this dagger out of my pocket and throw it right at his heart.
Fuck. Since when did I become so fucking possessive I canât even look at someone else holding her hand? Have I gone insane?
I shake it off as the dean walks us up the stairs to the top level of the building. Along the way, a multitude of students looks at us and visibly gossip, unafraid to be speaking about us in public. They all knew we were dangerous before. No one just ever expected the cops to get involved.
A familiar face bearing a smirk at the last staircase makes me halt and stare.
âNathan â¦â My body feels like itâs about to combust. âYouâre responsible for this?â
âI didnât do anything. Iâm gonna enjoy this, though,â Nathan replies, grinning like heâs on drugs.
And fuck me, Iâm gonna end this motherfuckerâs life.
I immediately go for my knife, but Dylan grasps my arm and stops me midway. âDonât.â
âListen to your buddy there, Felix,â Nathan spews. âOr this might get a whole lot uglier.â
âNothing as ugly as your fucking stump of a finger,â I retort, tilting my head when the anger flashes across his face. âI guess my snake Nessie will enjoy a tasty meal soon.â
His pupils dilate, and he charges at me, punching me in the face.
Dylanâs father growls, âHey! Get off him!â
A police officer standing near the stairs jumps in and separates us, drawing his gun at Nathan. âStep back!â
Nathan stops midair with a second punch and glares at the police officer before lowering his fist. And I canât help but fucking smile at him.
He hisses, âYou motherfââ
âNot another word,â Dylanâs father quips, and he nods at the police officer. âShow him the exit, please. I donât want any more fighting on these school grounds.â
The police officer grabs Nathan by the arm and pushes him farther down the stairs, forcing him to break eye contact.
I know that fucker hates me for what I did to him, but he deserved it after threatening Penelope and possibly even hurting Eve.
And I thoroughly enjoy tormenting every single inch of his soul.
But if heâs the one who ratted us all out to the dean to settle a score, Iâm gonna make sure he pays.
Weâre alone with Dylanâs father, who turns to us like a bull getting the whip. âYou motherfuckers better give me one good reason not to kick you out of this school right now.â
âUh â¦â Dylan mutters. âMaybe because Iâm your son?â
He glares at his son before sneering at all of us, âMy office. Now.â
âWait, me too?â Penelope asks.
His eyes narrow at her. âAll of you.â
We follow him up the stairs and into his office, but the second the door closes on us, Alistair practically loses all the color in his face.
Because next to the deanâs chair is the police chief in charge of the entire city as well as this school.
And Alistair just mutters, âHi, Dad.â
