Chapter 31

29.

Her Stain

-The day of the engagement -

-Yuvraaj -

I looked at small crowd, My heart sighing as I looked at them.

Marriage was a huge responsibility, a really big step in our lives and a life long decision. Yet as I was about to start it with Siya, I didn't feel the weight of responsibility. The big step not big enough and the life long decision only a fleeting moment.

It was before the engagement, before the proposal, I was sure Siya had become a huge part of my life, yet when the words were to condense from the air and engrave in our souls, the only thing I felt was gut wrenching regret of entering a suffocating relationship with my Siya. She didn't deserve this.

I didn't deserve her.

She was the sun, shining brightly, and I was the moon that reflected the life she bestowed me with.

She was a little, delicate dove and I the monster whose life depended on the dove, and seemed to have captured her.

She was the world, and I a mere speck of dust in her presence.

People called me their king, the heir of the throne, the master of Rajasthan, yet it seemed I was ready to bow to her. I smiled bitterly, yet all I could give her was hurt.

"Rana Sa?" Dhiraj called me out.

"Yes?"

"Sir..., You have been waiting for quite a long time..., people are starting to whisper." My eyes looked at the small crowd. They were all relatives. The marriage was supposed to be done subtly, I didn't wish Siya to have to see a huge crowd as it could get overwhelming.

Yet they all were starting to look at us suspiciously, true to Dhiraj's words. Siya's presence was still not seen around the room.

Suddenly worry hit my chest.

Is she alright?

Maa Sa was starting to look angry, and even dad looked quite uncomfortable. Avyaan raised an eyebrow at me silently. I looked down, my mind racing.

She wouldn't do this on purpose. Was it she was hurt?

My eyes flashed, and before I knew it the worry was spreading like a wildfire in my chest. I got down from the stage, when suddenly sidharth came infront of me. "Bhai sa, where are you going?"

I looked at him, seriously. "Checking on Siya."

A small teasing grin slipped on his face as he moved away. I moved away without a reaction.

-Siya-

Tears ran down my face as Maa and Papa all looked down at me worriedly. Even Zoya who had only just arrived in time for engagement looked at me, with concern. "Siyu, it's getting late beta." Maa coaxed me, as a sob left my lips.

"M-maa, I don't want to--" Tears fell from my eyes as I coughed unable to breath due to tears. Zoya hugged me, calming me down, "Chup, Siya. It'll be fine, Jaan. Bas. Bas...,"

Nishant Bhai were busy getting angry at everybody, "she said No! No means no, I'll go and tell Rana Sa now, and call off the wedding."

Indar Bhai pulled him back, "Bhai pagal ho Gaye ho kya aap? Itne saare log aaye hai, how can we call off the wedding now?"

Nishant Bhai yelled, "USNE BOLA NA KI USKO NAHI KARNI SHADI, TOH NAHI HOGI SHADI!!"

More tears left my eyes, and I cried out. "Bhai"

His head snapped up towards me, his eyes softening as he quickly walked upto me, hugging me. "Shh...Chhota, chup. Don't cry tiny." He wiped my tears, rubbing the back of my head in a calming manner. "Tera Bhai hai na tere saath? Nahi karni shaadi, koi na. I'll talk to him, baby just please don't cry."

He whispered, vulnerably, "Don't cry doll, tujhe pata hai na, mujhe bardasht nahi Tera rona?"

True to his words, he had really been unable to control himself since I burst into tears. I didn't realise when it got so bad, that the overwhelming thoughts started slipping from my eyes in form of tears.

Bhai had turned the whole room upside down, as he constantly continued snapping at people when I started crying. Even Zoya patted my back, sniffling. "Shaant hoja Siyu, you'll be alright."

There was a knock on the door of the room and everybody quietened down.

Rana Sa stood outside the room, beside his brother Avyaan when an unknown girl in a gorgeous white dress opened the door. Her face seemed red and tear stained, and she looked at both of them with a confused look. "Ji?"

Yuvraaj looked at her for a second, his mind racing with a thousand thoughts before he quietly spoke. "Here to meet Nishant Sharma."

Avyaan looked at his brother and raised an eyebrow. Yuvraaj ignored him and looked at the girl with a commanding presence.

The girl nodded her head and disappeared behind the door, before Nishant appeared at the door. His expression angry, as he stared at Yuvraaj, he spoke sarcastically, "Kya hukum hai, Rana Sa?"

Avyaan's eyes shifted, his expression turning hostile as he spoke, "Aapki beti kamre se bahar nahi aayi, mohorat ho chuka hai aur aap is tarah se baat kar rahe hai, Bhai sa se? Kya aapke Ghar izzat nahi sikhayi--"

"Avyaan." A stern warning pieced together Yuvraaj's voice. Just because they were the bride's side of wedding didn't mean they held some superior hands on Siya's family.

Avyaan loomed disatisfied but didn't say a word. Yuvraaj spoke up, "Can I see Siya for a second?"

Nishant's expression moved, his eyes blazing in fury and he was about to say something when a meek and shivering voice spoke from behind. "Bhai..., nahi please."

It was as if the voice held magic, and suddenly the angry man calmed down significantly.

Still his expression was sour, as he moved to the side opening the door wide. Yuvraaj's expression shifted, a small smile lifting his lips as he heard his little dove's voice. A little relief forming in his chest. She was still here.

Willing to talk.

Yuvraaj opened the door, before walking in. His eyes looking for his beloved. His Siya.

The woman that had been ruling his mind since the day he saw her. Was she wearing the lehenga he had sent over secretly, or the lehenga he bought and secretly got the vendor to sell for a cheaper rate because he knew Siya would like it?

Or would she be wearing something her family gifted her? She would still be looking beautiful regardle--

He suddenly stopped when his eyes fell on her. The girl shrunk on the corner of the bed, her hands holding her knees in a way that cracked his heart.

Tears. She was crying.

Any left happiness left in his heart, seemed to be obliterated as her tears shone in her eyes.

She was wearing the lehenga he had chosen for her, the one he sent over yet to him it only represented a compromise. A compromise she made for her family to be happy. A compromise she made to make him happy and appeased.

He wordlessly stared at Siya who had been looking at her hands, ignoring his existence. His heart breaking at the sounds of her shallow breaths.

The tears flowed silently, yet they were the loudest echoes he had ever heard. And yet, he was the one who hurt her.

He looked down, his hands clenching as he couldn't bear the sight of her tears. They ripped him apart, yet again without any words he left the room leaving everybody tensed, worried and confused.

Yuvraaj Singh Chauhan was a true blood born rajwadi king. The Rana Sa that ruled rajashthan, the man whose feet were above heaven in form of respect. An arrogant man, a business tycoon, who knew how much furious and in rage he would be to have such a scandal on his own engagement?

He could absolutely destroy the whole family within a snap's time. For him to move without saying a word, was it because he was feeling deeply insulted?

The people in the hall were all looking forward anxiously, as Yuvraaj stood infront of them all. His eyes on the ground as he felt himself being killed a thousand times.

She cried. Because of me.

As he opened his mouth to speak, every single person in the room quietened down. Nishant who had followed him out of the room to talk with him stopped at the door.

He spoke indifferently, to everybody's reaction. "Good evening, guests." His eyes were cold, blank, yet his heart had been shredded to pieces. "Today everybody gathered here to witness mine and my bride's engagement. And for that I'm grateful to everybody who took the liberties to come."

His eyes slightly dropped down, but there was no embarassment as he announced, "But my fiance, my to be wife, the future Rani Sa, isn't feeling well, and hence the engagement is postponed."

The atmosphere suddenly chilled, as everybody's expression shifted. The engagement was postponed.

Yet Yuvraaj stood unbending even after seeing his mother's expression, as he continued, "I, as the Rana Sa of Jodhpur, would like to apologise for the time we wasted, but would still like everybody to continue with the banquet."

Saying so he walked out of the room leaving everybody stunned.

Yuvraaj Singh Chauhan, the King of Rajasthan was stood at his own engagement by his bride. And he still apologised.
