Chapter 326
When There Is Nothing Left But Love
The old man chuckled. âYouâre full of tricks, huh? Okay, Iâll call him later. See you tonight.â
We exchanged pleasantries before cutting the call.
A smirk flitted across Sallyâs lips. âIâm curious. Why did you suddenly decide to help me?â
I stared at the glass of milk on the table and felt my stomach churning. Instead of answering her
question, I inquired, âIâve set up an appointment with them. What about you?â
She gave a nonchalant shrug before standing up to go to her bedroom.
When she returned, there was a folder in her hand. âHere you go. They are of no use to me anyway.
You can have them all.â
I emptied the folder and went through the contents, which proved Cameron had hooked up with
influential men all around the world, most of them from overseas and J City.
It seemed like she didnât hook up with any man in K City. The woman was smart enough to preserve
her reputation here. Otherwise, even if Zachary agreed to marry her, the Moore family would despise
her.
âArenât you afraid Iâll go back on my word?â I asked and pocketed the folder.
She raised her brows. âMy father chose you to be his granddaughter-in-law. I wonât question his
choice.â
Her reply took me by surprise. âActually, you can easily take over Fuller Corporation after returning to J
City. Youâre capable enough of running the company.â
Stirring her soup, she let out a faint chuckle. âIâve worked in White Corporation for ten years. From the
minute I stepped into the company, Iâve never thought of leaving.â
She reminded me of Ashton a lot. I blurted out, âItâs your sense of responsibility.â
My exclamation startled her. âWhat?â
âSense of responsibility. Grandpaâs a soldier, so he instilled a sense of responsibility in you from a
young age. You remained in White Corporation not because youâd gain profits, but because youâve
decided to bore the responsibility the day Benjamin struck a deal with you.â
Sally merely arched her brows. â No wonder Father picked you. Youâre quite smart.â
Rising to her feet, she added, âWeâve come to an agreement. I hope to receive good news soon.â
That very afternoon, Savini was sentenced to ten years in prison for demanding and receiving bribes.
Through the bulletproof glass window, I noticed how haggard he was. It was as if he had aged
overnight.
When he saw me, a sneer appeared on his face. âWhy are you here? To mock me?â
I didnât refute his words. Instead, I told him, âYour assets and illegal income have been seized. I heard
that your daughter is about to take the high school admission test. Sheâs enrolled at a private school,
so the tuition fees and living expenses must cost a bomb. Now that your accounts are frozen, your wife
canât hold on for long. I believe your daughter is about to drop out of school soon.â
His eyes widened in shock. âWhat do you want?â he demanded.
I wasnât in a hurry to reveal my request. âYour wife seems to have found her next target. Sheâs used to
leading a lavish lifestyle. I guess the sudden downfall must be too much for her to bear.â With a grin, I
added, âI heard your wife is pretty good-looking. It will be easy for her to find another man and continue
squandering money away.â
His fury was evident even through the clear glass. âWhat do you want?â
âI want every single bit of evidence regarding Cameronâs illegal deals all over the years and a detailed
report of her background.â
He sneered. âYou can find her life story online. Why would you get that from me? I know nothing about
her!â
As he seemed reluctant to reveal anything, I tamped down my irritation and offered, âIf you give me
what I want, Iâll take care of your daughter for the next ten years. The Fullers and the Stovalls will
protect her. As long as sheâs hardworking enough, sheâll have a bright future. Think about it.â
Savini glanced at me hesitantly. âAre you sure?â
âYou can choose not to believe me. But this concerns your daughterâs future. The choice lies in your
hand.â
Pursing his lips, he ran his hand through his hair in frustration, seemingly torn.
After some time, he finally spoke. âSure. But I need confirmation.â
I nodded. âNo problem.â
He fell silent for a while before saying, âGo to Centurion Garden in J City. You can find my wife there.
Tell her about my current condition and ask her to come with the stuff I left with her.â
I nodded again. âAnything else?â
He shook his head and said no more.
