Chapter 26

☾ 26: Dreams ☾

Azure

"Oh my gosh! This is beyond amazing! It's so cute!" I said seeing the two necklaces Katherine presented me.

They were of two wolf pups one was a silvery white and the other was darker almost black.

"You didn't have to get me anything." I continued with a smile.

"As I said, I wanted to. You should give the other one to one of your little wolf pack friends... I'm sure they would go head over heels for it. Here I'll put it on you."

I handed her the necklace with the white pup and she wrapped it around my neck. I stayed sitting on the bed looking at the other necklace in thought. Once Katherine was down she laid back on the bed, hands behind her head.

I extended the other necklace out to her. "Here."

She elevated herself on her elbows. "What?"

"I want you to wear it."

"I can't take that! Trust me you should give it to someone else..." Her face grew flushed.

"Well, you got these for me and you told me to give the other one to someone. I choose to give it to you." I insisted.

"Yeah, but I meant literally someone other than me." She said as she sat up.

Okay, she is getting on my nerves. Why won't she take it?

"What if I don't want to give it to someone else? I want you to have it." I insisted.

She laughed a bit. "Trust me you don't."

"Is there something I'm missing?"

"Yes. But you'll find out when you give it to someone else. It's a wolf thing hence why I suggested giving it to one. I'm a vampire remember?"

Why won't she tell me the meaning? It can't be that deep.

I dropped my hands to my crisscrossed legs.

"Who cares if it's a wolf thing? Now, turn around." I commanded.

"You're not taking no for an answer are you?" She asked.

"Nope, now turn."

She groaned as she complied. She moved her hair out of the way while mumbling something in the process too quiet and incoherent for even my ears.

I unhooked the latch and placed it around her neck, my hands rubbing against her skin in the process. I may have thought about how soft her skin was for a bit longer than normal.

She turned to face me once I was done and bit her lip. My heart skipped a beat at the sight.

"I should've just gotten you something else... Why are you looking at me like that?"

"W-What?"

"You're staring at me almost like..." She shook her head though I didn't fail to notice the tint in her cheeks.

"Do you want something to eat? I'll get it." She asked.

"Sure."

"Okay, I'll be right back. The signal sucks in this room."

She was gone for only a few minutes then she returned.

"All the good places are closed. So, I got us a sandwich thing." She said placing the bag on the bed. "I also got us a drink. It's fresh so it's still warm."

She handed me my food as I thanked her.

"We should get some sleep," Katherine suggested.

She was applying chapstick. Feeling my gaze, she looked over at me.

"Do you want some?" She asked with a small smirk.

"I'm good," I said as I flopped into bed.

"Good because I just finished the last of it." She said and tossed the tube into the trash.

As she sat next to me on the bed the scent of cherry made its way to me. I couldn't help but stare at her lips as she searched for a show on the tv.

Her lip looked shiny and soft. Suddenly I was feeling as high as I did at the party. It must have been the blood again. She was talking yet I wasn't listening to a word she was saying. Her eyes never left the screen and mine never left her lips. It was only when she bit them that something in me snapped. Words began spilling from my mouth before I could even stop them.

"Hey... I actually do want some."

She looked at me with a roll of her eyes as she tossed the remote aside. She stood up to stretch looking over at me mockingly.

"Didn't you hear me? I just-."

In an instant, I had pinned her against the wall. "I know..." I whispered as my eyes looked down to her lips.

My lips waisted no time finally colliding with hers. It was definitely not a slow kiss, instead it was heated. One might think I've waited my whole life to kiss her.

Katherine pinned me to the opposite wall across the room not breaking our deep kiss. She gripped at my thighs, the action making me jump up and wrap my legs around her.

"Fuck..." She moaned as I trailed my lips along her neck.

That sound drove me mad I wanted to hear more. I instantly pinned her to the bed, when all of a sudden my eyes opened.

"Holy shit... I'm out! I thought I would never get out of there!" Katherine panted as she caught her breath.

I looked over at her confused. It was morning now. She was sitting on the bed, a blanket covering her legs. I could hear her heart racing.

I sat up. "What... just happened?"

"You tell me." She said with disbelief as she shook her head.

"Looks like you managed to learn something new... I didn't tell you about it because I wanted to mess with you one night, but vampires can step into people's dreams. It would seem that in your hybrid case you could bring people to yours. Care to explain why you drag me into yours?" She asked.

"I didn't... At least I didn't mean to. Hold on. How do I know you're not just saying this to mess with me."

"Oh please! I was happily dreaming in my own head when suddenly I'm in yours. The shift was obvious yet I struggled to pull myself out of it."

"If you were in my dream then what was it about?" I asked without thinking.

She raised a brow. "Do you really want me to say all the little juicy details? Perhaps recreating it will-."

"R-Right, okay! I believe you. Why didn't you try and stop me though?" I asked.

"I couldn't. It's like you were controlling me... I guess you're able to do that being a hybrid and all."

"Uh, huh. So, I made you kiss me?" I said in disbelief.

She laughed. "Yes."

She then crawled closer to me and whispered. "Because if I wanted to kiss you I would..."

Before my mind wandered, she got up and started packing things up.

"I'm... not sure if that's a good thing or insulting."

Katherine shrugged.

"Oh and by the way, judging by how quickly things escalated you certainly enjoyed it. Possibly even wishing it would happen in reality am I right?" She smirked.

"In your dreams." I feigned disagreement.

"Certainly happened in yours." She winked.

This girl is killing me... and not entirely in a bad way. I can't believe I did all that. My fave grew warm at the memory.

I began grabbing my things as well. When I grabbed my phone I remembered.

"Crap. I forgot to call Laine! I'll be back." I said going outside.

I dialed her number and after the third ring she picked up.

"Hey, where are you?! Why haven't you been answering my texts!" Laine screamed worriedly through the phone.

"Uh... Well, to be honest, I have no clue where I'm at but as you may have been told I'm going to see my parents."

"Okay, well that doesn't answer why you didn't text me back!"

"I was... Busy to say the least."

I scratched the back of my head.

"With Katherine?"

"I-In a way I guess, why?"

"Mason says she's bad news..."

"Well, Mason obviously hasn't gotten a chance to get to know her." I don't even know much about her myself yet here I was standing up for her.

"At least she had the decency to tell me the truth," I muttered. "She also celebrated my birthday. Remember? The one I mentioned to you a few weeks ago?"

"She only knows your birthday because she's been stalking you! I was going- planning to celebrate it with you... but things happened and I got busy..."

"Sure, because sending even a simple message takes up your whole life."

She was silent for a while. "I don't want to argue... I'm just worried about you Cassy. I miss you..." She spoke softly.

I'd be lying if I said I hadn't missed her presence around. I would have loved to celebrate with her. I feel like we could've had fun... Then I was reminded of her outing with Heather. She was having fun on her own without me as was I.

"I miss you too... but believe it or not I've been having fun and learning a lot. Sure Katherine can be annoying at times but she's not a bad person. She's making me feel more like my true self. It's been a while since I've felt normal despite being far from."

"Well... I'm glad to hear you're enjoying yourself. D-do you think after you meet your parents you'll come back?"

I heard noises in the background making me frown slightly.

"Y-Yeah... Maybe..."

"I hate to interrupt but we better get going," Katherine said from behind me.

"Laine, I need to go."

"Wait, Cass-."

"Tell Heather I said hi by the way." I interrupted and hung up.

"Who the hell is that?" Katherine asked.

"The girl she ditched me for. I heard her in the background."

Katherine nodded then grabbed my hand. "Let's go."
