Chapter 28
The 5-time Rejected Gamma & the Lycan King
Xandar and Christian noticed Lucianneâs eyes glaze over so they waited for her to speak. Her tone
turned serious, âA few members of the alliance want to speak with you both about the rogue Lycan. They
were hoping that the two of you could spare five minutes.â
âJuan!â Xandar called out like a brother with a smile and walked towards him with Lucianne. Christian
followed closely behind.
Juan was with Zeke, Zelena and Tate, and they greeted them, âMy King. Your Grace.â (This novel will be

heads as soon as Xandar and Christian lifted theirs. 1
Juan began, âYour Highness, Your Grace. Lucy mentioned that the rogue is due to regain consciousness
this afternoon?â
âHe is.â Christian confirmed with a smile.
Juan then asked doubtfully, âWould it be possible if one of us attended the interrogation process? We
donât mean to intrude but we would very much appreciate a chance to listen in o
nâ¦â
âI was expecting all of you to attend it actually.â Xandar uttered with confusion of why the rest of the
alliance didnât want to be involved. The b*stard attacked one of their own! They attacked Lucy!
âReally?â Luna Zelena asked in disbelief.
âReally?â Alpha Tate asked right after her.
Xandar then said, âOf course. Why not? Weâll be questioning him in a room with a one-way mirror. You
can all watch and listen in from the next room. I donât see why anyone would think that the presence of
the whole alliance would be an issue.â
Alpha Zeke was still in disbelief, âReally?â
Xandar turned to Lucianne helplessly and said, âSweetheart, help us please.â
Lucianne then looked at her friends and said, âGuys, just take it.â
They seemed to have finally come out of their shock, âThank you, your Highness.â
Luna Zelena added, âWe really appreciate it, and umâ¦some of us had a thought thatâ¦â she looked at
Alpha Zeke, who nodded hesitantly, before Zelena continued, âWe think they may have been targeting
Lucy in particular so we are all very concerned. We normally wouldnât interfere in matters unrelated to
our pack but, for this particular case, we had to ask. Thank you for granting us our wish.â
Christian then said, âWeâre on the same page, Luna Zelena. Xandar and I feel that our Queen
was the one they were really after, too. We need everyone involved to be on board to see if we can
connect the dots together.â He then chuckled and patted his cousin on the shoulder before declaring, âMy
cousin and I would be very concerned if the alliance didnât want to be involved in the investigation,(This
novel will be daily updtaed at www.noveljar.com) to be honest. We havenât reached out to any of you yet
because we have to monitor the rogueâs condition today to see when the questioning can start.â
Juan thrusted out his hand to Christian, âThank you, your Grace.â And he did the same thing t o Xandar,
âAnd you, your Highness.â
Xandar took Juanâs hand and smiled, âLike I said, Juan. It is I who owe the alliance. I should b e the one
expressing my thanks. Weâll update you when we get any news.â
After theyâve gotten their food and sat down, Lucianne was pressing back a cheeky smile when a thought
came to her. Xandar caught this, âLucy, do share the joke.â
The others werenât at the table yet so she said, âI was just thinking about how helpless you looked back
there when Zeke still couldnât believe what you said.â
âAnd?â He prompted, taking her hands into his.
Her eyes were flooded with humour, âAnd you looked like the big, scary Lycan King who was desperately
trying to be a softy. And it was funny.â Lucianne started giggling.
Her choice of words and the sound of her giggles had somehow turned on a switch in Xandar, who then
said in a husky voice, âCareful, my love. If you keep teasing me like that, whatever i s soft in me would
turn very, very hard.â 1
Lucianne looked at him in confusion before she caught his lustful gaze. (This novel will be daily updtaed

be sitting at a different table for the next three meals.â
âHowâs that fair? Youâre technically the one who started this.â He complained.
âYou asked me about the joke!â She retorted in a whisper. He then said innocently, âHow should I know
the joke could beâ¦â âCould be interpreted so inappropriately by your horny mind?â Lucianne smirked.
Christian came with his plate, âYouâre doing it again, cuz? Take an online course on controlling your dirty
thoughts. Maybe itâll help. Maybe it wonât, in which case, youâll be sitting alone.â
Xandar then looked at his cousin with a mock look of betrayal, âYouâre ditching your childhood friend for
your Queen?â
âYeah, I am.â Christian said without hesitation before offering a slight bow to the giggling Lucianne to
signify his loyalty to her over his cousin.
Xandar leaned into his mate and pecked a kiss on her cheek as he whispered into her ear in his deep,
alluring voice, âFirst, you steal my heart. Then, you beat me in combat. Now, youâre
even taking my best friend. Is there a limit to what you can take from me, my love?â
Lucianneâs cheeks got warmer, and she felt Xandarâs lips curling into a smirk at how her body responded
to his voice, his words. Then, the very scent she was afraid of smelling in a public setting started filling
the space between them. Her shyness diminished, taken over by annoyance.
Her stern eyes fixed on Xandarâs flirtatious ones as she demanded in a hushed voice, (This novel will be

He knew exactly what she was talking about. Xandar chuckled lightly at her seriousness and allowed
himself a brief peck on her nose before he muttered, âAs you wish, my Queen.â Disregarding his animalâs
protest, Xandar pulled away from his sexually attractive mate and the scent of his arousal disappeared,
much to Lucianneâs relief. But from Christianâs suppressed smile, it was clear that the Duke knew exactly
what just went on
