Chapter 70
The 5-time Rejected Gamma & the Lycan King
Lucianne narrowed her eyes in Zekeâs way, âWeâve been through this, Zeke. Tate changed himself,
andâ¦â âNo, he didnât.â Toby uttered with a taunting smirk in his Alphaâs way.
Lucianne threw Toby a glare before going back to Zeke, âHe did. And letâs get one thing straight. For
Xandar⦠I didnât⦠âmake him kneel to me.â
When everyone heard the sound of metal slamming onto the floor, their sights returned to the next room.
Chief Dalloway slammed the rogueâs chair upright again and the three men resumed their seats as well.
The rogue coughed a few more times before he answered Xandarâs question from earlier, âN-N o. My
instructions were to eliminate the wolf. The white one with a striped tail. We were not told that she was
the Queen.â 1
Toby scoffed and commented mercilessly, âSome Tacticians they have.â
âDidnât even do their research right.â Sylvia said in agreement.
Lucianne wasnât sure if she agreed. At the time of the attack, she wasnât exactly welcoming to the idea of
being Queen yet. And technically speaking, she wasnât their Queen now. Everyone just called her that.
So, Lucianne said, âWell, theyâre not exactly wrong. I mean, Iâm technically not the Quâ¦â
âShush, Lucy.â Toby cut her off, and then he threw her a cheeky smile before offering a small bow and
saying, âMy apologies. What I meant to say was, âShush, my Queenâ.â
Lucianne narrowed her eyes before pushing Toby with just enough force to make him tilt sideways as he
chuckled. Tate allowed himself a brief look at Lucianne before returning his sights to the next room.
Xandar continued, âWhy her?â
âWe were not told that either. Weâre never told why we are to target a certain⦠target. The only one privy
to these reasons would be the boss. Not even the Tacticians would know. As fighters, we are just told
who weâre after, how we are to attack, when and where the attack should take place.â
âWhy the Jewel Pack?â
âTheir warriors are weak. We were to attack to draw out the target.â
Juan exclaimed in anger, âYou were instructed to kill pack members until my sister showed u p to defend
them?!â Even the wolves in the other room were agitated. Zelena stood up from her chair, and inched
herself nearer to the glass, simmering in fury. Tateâs hands were clenched into tight fists. Toby, Raden
and Sylvia stiffened in controlled anger.
The rogueâs lips were sealed, until Xandar growled, âAnswer him.â
âYes.â
Low growls were emitted in the watching room, and Lucianne said cautiously with evident worry, âGuys,
weâre good. Heâs cuffed up. Everyone is safe. Letâs all just calm down.â Everyone watched their smallest
member and threw each other cheeky smirks again before Juanâs shouting caught their attention.
âHow did you know she would be there?! Anyone could have gone there to fight off the rogues instead!â
âAnswer.â Xandar commanded.
âB-Because the research was done. She showed up whenever weak packs needed help. We were
assured that she would be there. If she werenât, we were told to kill until she came.â
SS
No one could deny this. Whenever Blue Crescent had to pick which ally to help during simultaneous
rogue attacks, Lucianne always got Juan to let her and her warriors go to the most vulnerable pack first.
They would then ask other equally strong packs to assist the other allies under attack.
Juan continued pressing, âAnd if she didnât show up when the whole pack is eliminated?â
The rogueâs tired and angered eyes met Juanâs, âWe would attack the next most vulnerable
pack.â
âSick b*stards!â Lucianne hissed in a soft voice. Her eyes began glistening with anger and guilt as she
imagined the number of lives that wouldâve been lost if she showed up later. It meant thatâ¦those eleven
warriors died because of her, because they were trying to draw her out.
Tate seemed to have read her mind when he said in a low voice, âLucy, the Jewel Packâs casualties are
not your fault. You shouldnât be blaming yourself. You saved the rest of them. W e all did. Their Beta
himself told you that the pack owes you. This is the rogueâs fault, Lucy, not yours. Donât think otherwise,
okay?â
Lucianne took in his words before nodding meekly and throwing him a grateful smile,â Thanks, Tate.â He
offered her a small smile in return.
The rogue scoffed arrogantly all of a sudden, and then made a remark on his own, âSuch a small-sized
thing even for her kind. The wolfâs life was hardly worth saving.â 2
The three of them growled in unison. Xandar growled a second time before he broke the rogueâs nose,
left ear and fractured his chin before shouting, âHOW DARE YOU SPEAK ABOUT OUR QUEEN IN
THAT MANNER?! IF SHE DIDNâT ASK ME TO SPARE YOUR LIFE, YOUâD JOIN YOUR FRIENDS IN
HELL RIGHT NOW!â
The rogue smirked, âSpare my life? She left me here to be tortured. Iâve shown her mercy by
killing her.â
It was Xandarâs turn to smirk, âNow, who told you that she isnât still alive and well?â
The rogue registered Xandarâs arrogant declaration, and his eyes were suddenly filled with horror as he
muttered under his breath, âThatâs not possible. It was silver. Heâs bluffing. Youâre bluffing!â
âIs he?â Christian challenged. The rogue looked at the three men. It didnât look like they were hiding
anything.
He continued to mutter in disbelief, âImpossible. The amount of silver was lethal.â He then challenged the
three men weakly, âShe didnât survive. No wolf wouldâve. Youâre just making m e think that Iâve failed so
that Iâll blurt out information!â
Xandar scoffed darkly before he locked his murderous onyx eyes with the rogueâs doubtful ones as he
asked rhetorically, âDo you think that you would be sitting here with just bruises and fractures if you
hadâ¦. killed MY mate?â The word âkilledâ was visibly hard for Xandar to say. âYouâre only able to remain
in one unbroken piece now because she survived. Pretty sure your boss isnât too happy about that. Your
credentials must be tainted as well so I donât see why you should have to leave us. Now, hereâs what I
want you to do,â
Everyone sat upright as they waited for what Xandar was going to say next. The King radiated his
authority once more as he compelled, âI want your name and every alias youâve used. I want the names
of everyone you know in Wu Bi Corp. I want you to tell Chief Dalloway here about your history in this line
of business. I want addresses, contact information, hide-outs, meet-up points and any location youâve
used to receive your instructions. I want every transaction made to and from you to be on paper. Do you
understand me?â
The rogue was already drenched in sweat with being slammed, punched, strangled and mentally forced
against his will. He only managed to stay silent for two seconds before he gritted his teeth and muttered
a reluctant, âYes, my King.â
âWould you hurt our Queen again?â
The rogue gritted his teeth, âN-No.â
âWould you try to kill her again?â
âN-No.â
âWhat should you do if you are in the Queenâs presence?â
Xandar was really not playing fair now. He was basically forcing the rogue to spit out whatever Xandar
himself wanted to hear using the Kingâs Authority.
