Chapter 21
How to Run Away from Obsessed Men
Lindseyâs touch made Raysis flinch and tense up. Seeing this, Lindsey smiled and spoke.
âThatâs because that guy is just like you.â
Her tone was colder than the frost of midwinter. Her eyes were full of contempt.
The moment Raysis met her gaze, he could no longer continue speaking.
It was then that Mikhailâs presence, which had been focused on the window, began to intensify. Mikhail looked at Raysis and warned him.
âDonât cause a commotion, Raysis.â
The inside of the carriage fell silent. Lindsey turned her gaze outside.
Not only these detestable humans but also Kenyan and Rosalyn awaited her in the northern region.
âJust thinking about it makes me sigh.â
Kenyan was a person who made her feel unpleasant just by looking at him, and Rosalyn was someone she found uncomfortable.
Lindsey thought of Rosalyn.
The saintess of the Kesion Marquis family.
Rosalyn was often called by that name. She possessed the strongest divine power in the Kesion Marquis family.
âIt was hard to believe she was from the Kesion Marquis family, given how kind she was.â
Rosalyn was the only person in the Kesion Marquis family who was kind to Lindsey.
But in the past, Lindsey had felt an inexplicable unease around Rosalyn. Bad things always seemed to happen whenever she was with Rosalyn.
It was only when she was about to leave for the Radian family that she realized the reason was Rosalynâs contempt for her.
âI want to disappear quickly.â
Lindsey had no intention of staying with these people any longer. However, it would require a lot of preparation for things to go as she wished.
If she wanted to completely escape from the Kesion Marquis family.
Lindsey leaned back in the carriage and closed her eyes. Raysis looked at her with an unreadable expression.
ââ â
Before long, Lindsey arrived in the north and examined the room assigned to her.
The place they were staying in the north was a villa belonging to the Radian family. Lindsey smirked.
The room was more luxurious and better than the one she had stayed in when she was with the Radian family.
Since Kenyan was the one who assigned the rooms, he must have given her this one.
Lindsey thought about why she had ended up here.
âAzhet Radian wonât care about me.â
So the strange reason for bringing her here was purely due to Kenyanâs whim.
He might have wanted to bother her a bit. For someone who had lived as an ordinary noble lady, it wouldnât be surprising to faint at the sight of a monster.
He might want to mock her if she cried. Mocking her was something Kenyan did whenever he was bored.
âItâs better here than at the Kesion Marquis family.â
In all sincerity, she preferred a battlefield swarming with monsters over the Kesion Marquis family.
âAnd once this is over, we will break off the engagement, so I need to finish this task completely.â
Lindsey looked out the window.
She saw priests gathered and talking.
Unlike transcendents, priests often manifested even if they were not nobles. Hence, many with âdirty bloodâ also manifested divine power.
Priests who were not nobles were often dispatched to work in remote areas like this. There were many transcendents, but few priests, so it was an inevitable situation.
They couldnât send the nobles to dangerous places on the frontier, so they sent commoners or those with dirty blood.
Knock, knock.
âLindsey, may I come in?â
As soon as Lindsey responded, someone entered.
âI am Lencia, the maid assigned to assist you during your stay here.â
With that, Lencia began to look around Lindseyâs room.
âDid anything unusual happen on your way here?â
âUnusual?â
âAh, lately the number of monsters has been increasing. Some people have been attacked.â
So they really brought her to a dangerously filthy place. Lindsey realized anew how malicious Kenyan was.
It was fortunate that she was not an ordinary noble lady. If she were the past Lindsey Kesion, who knew nothing, she would have burst into tears at these words.
Kenyan and Crain, sending her to a monster den without any preparation, were out of their minds.
âMay they trip and fall on the road.â
Given Kenyanâs superhuman athletic abilities, it was an unrealistic curse.
âIf you need anything, please feel free to call me anytime.â
Lencia said that and left the room. As soon as she left, Lindsey opened the window. She wanted to observe the priests outside a bit more.
âThere might be someone like me among them.â
There might be someone with âdirty bloodâ like hers. As Lindsey was looking out the window.
Someone grabbed her wrist from outside.
âThis is the second floor.â
How could someone grab her wrist from the second floor?
âLindsey Kesion.â
Lindsey was startled to see Kenyan appear in front of her. The timing was too perfect. They say transcendents have multiple abilitiesâ¦
âCould he have the ability to read minds?â
It was surprising that he came running as soon as she cursed him.
âYouâre not thinking of jumping again, are you?â
âI didnât jump.â
âThen what was that last time?â
Lindsey started to speak but then closed her mouth. She didnât want to tell this guy that someone had pushed her from behind.
He would just look at her with disdain.
For someone with dirty blood, not recognized even by her own family.
Someone who would be ignored and pushed around wherever she went. He was the type of person who would do that.
A heartless person.
Lindsey hated the changed Kenyan.
The Kenyan in front of her believed Sylviaâs lies and criticized Lindsey.
âDirty blood. Acting just like your lowly status.â
âDonât even say youâre from the Radian family. Itâs utterly shameful.â
The weak Lindsey of the past couldnât even refute Kenyanâs accusations.
Even if she protested, as someone with dirty blood, a pureblood supremacist like him wouldnât have listened.
âI donât want to talk to you anymore.â
Kenyan, who was sitting on the windowsill, replied with a laugh.
âWho said I wanted to talk to you?â
ââ¦â
âIf you get hurt here, the Kesion Marquis family will bother me. You understand that, right?â
Kenyan didnât believe Lindsey when she said she had forgotten about Azhet. If not, why would she keep doing stupid things? Looking out the window, with a longing expression.
Damn it.
âI shouldnât have said it like that.â
Seeing Lindseyâs face full of longing, his words came out harshly.
Kenyan swallowed the words he was about to say. He didnât want to ask if she hadnât really forgotten about Azhet.
What if Lindsey Kesion said she really wouldnât break up with Azhet?
Now that she had manifested divine power, Azhet had no reason to break off the engagement.
And if⦠they really did get marriedâ¦
Kenyanâs face hardened with a surge of discomfort.
The thought of dirty blood marrying his brother was disgusting.
âDonât waste your emotions on something useless.â
Lindseyâs tone suddenly became gentle. It was a soft voice she had never used with him before. As soon as he heard that voice, Kenyan felt his heart start to race uncontrollably.
She gently took Kenyanâs hand and removed it.
As if removing something dirty.
âWeâre not going to see each other anymore, right? I understand why you hate me.â
ââ¦â
âBut I want you to understand too. I find you absolutely detestable.â
Kenyanâs face twisted in a grimace.
âDo you know how many priests die on the battlefield, Lindsey Kesion?â
Lindsey felt a contradiction in his words.
One moment he said he talked to her because he was afraid sheâd die, now he was threatening her with death.
âDoes he think Iâll cry if he says that?â
Lindsey had gone through too many experiences to be scared by such threats. She had seen people she knew die, and she had almost died herself.
She had even actually died.
Threatening her with death was laughable.
Lindsey let out a deflated smile.
âSo what, are you going to kill me?â
ââ¦â
âDid you bring me here to kill me? If you want to kill me, go ahead.â
ââ¦â
âYou donât know, but youâve already killed me once.â
Kenyan looked at her with bloodshot eyes.
âWhat do you mean?â
âThe day you ignored me. I died that day.â@@novelbin@@
Kenyanâs face showed confusion. He didnât seem to understand what she meant.
Lindsey thought that she had been reborn as Han Ji-yoo because Lindsey Kesion had died.
The intense winter cold she felt after being kicked out of the Radian family by Kenyanâ¦
The excruciating pain that cut through her skin and the loneliness of being alone in this world. And the faint breath that slowly faded away.
She died. At that moment, she had certainly ended her life.
Of course, the Kenyan Radian in front of her had no idea about that.
He couldnât possibly imagine that a human would die from something like that.
Thatâs why Lindsey hated Kenyan.
He had never experienced anything like what she went through.
He was always surrounded by people who praised him, and he didnât know what hardship was.
Everything was difficult for herâ¦
Being respected by someone, being understood by someone. Just living wasâ¦
It was all too difficult.
She and he would never understand each other.
