Chapter 14

12.

Loved by Mafia

Abhiraj's pov

I rush into my bedroom, holding her carefully in my arms. I place her gently on the bed, my heart pounding. The doctor is already here ready to check her.

"Check her fast!" I snap unable to control the panic in my voice.

The doctor immediately starts examining her while I stand there, my eyes fixed on her pale face. My chest tightens and a lump forms in my throat. Until I see her wake up, until I see her fine in front of me, I won’t be able to breathe properly.

"Sir she is fine" the doctor finally speaks and I feel my knees go weak with relief.

"She just fainted because of shock and everything that happened to her." My jaw clenches at her words. My hands curl into fists.

"Anything serious?" I ask my voice rough.

The doctor shakes her head. "No sir nothing serious. She just needs rest, a calm and peaceful time. She’ll be alright."

I nod stiffly watching as she leaves. The moment the door closes, I sit beside her, my hands trembling. I reach out and hold her hand, rubbing my thumb over her soft skin, hoping she can feel my presence even in her unconscious state.

A sharp pain stings my eyes and before I know it, tears start rolling down my face. I lower my head, holding her hand tightly.

"I'll make sure every single one of them pays for what they did to you" I vow silently my rage mixing with helplessness.

I lift my gaze to her face. A red slap mark stains her right cheek. Her skin looks pale, lifeless. My gut twists in guilt.

"I'm sorry" I whisper my voice breaking. "I should have come to you sooner"

Just then the door opens and Zar rushes inside. His little face is red and wet with tears. His small hands are clenched into fists, his whole body shaking.

He never cries. But today seeing his mumma like this, he hasn’t stopped crying since we got here.

I take a deep breath, composing myself before speaking. "She’s fine Zar. Your mumma is fine" I say softly, running my fingers through his hair.

More tears spill from his eyes. He is trying to stay strong.

"don’t cry my boy" I say wiping his tears. My voice drops, filled with quiet fury. "It's time for them to cry tears of blood"

I nod. "Stay here with your mumma" I say getting up.

Zar grips her hand tightly not letting go even in her sleep.

I step out of the room, my body vibrating with rage. I stride towards Dev’s room and knock before entering.

Dev is sitting on a chair, staring at her. His face is stiff, his eyes burning with emotions he refuses to show.

"How is she?" I ask.

His gaze never leaves her. "She’s fine. Just minor injuries."

His voice is hollow distant. He looks at her as if the moment he looks away she’ll disappear.

"How is Mira?" he asks.

I nod. "She’s fine" But we both know that’s only physically. Mentally, emotionally.....she’s not fine at all.

"Take care of her" I say patting his back before walking out.

I take out my phone and call my head guard. He picks up immediately.

"They said they had their eyes on ma'am for a long time. Tonight, they got the chance and did this" he informs me.

I squeeze my eyes shut, trying to control my fury. "Where is the guard?" I ask referring to the one I assigned to watch over Mira.

"Sir his wife was pregnant so he left to check on her. In his place, he appointed a new guard. But that new guard… he was one of our enemy’s men. He found out about ma’am and when he saw those men taking her, he didn’t stop them. He didn’t even inform us. He’s in the basement now."

I cut the call, my grip tightening around the phone. My entire body tenses. They have no idea what they’ve done.

Be ready to see the side of Abhiraj Singh Rajvansh that no one has ever seen before.

I storm back to my room, my mind set on only one thing...revenge.

But the moment I step inside, my anger momentarily melts.

Zar is curled up beside her, fast asleep. Even in her sleep, she’s holding him close, as if she knows he needs her warmth right now.

I walk over and sit on the couch in front of them, watching them silently.

I will make everything right. I promise. And this time, I won't wait. I'll make you mine. Very soon.

Morning

Mira’s POV

I wake up with a pounding headache. It feels like my head is being hit with a hammer. My body feels heavy and my eyelids refuse to open. I try again, forcing them open just a little but the bright light makes me shut them immediately.

Taking a slow breath I try once more. This time, I manage to open my eyes properly. I stare at the ceiling confusion clouding my mind.

Wait… where am I?

My heart beats faster as I quickly glance around. My eyes land on Zar, sleeping beside me. My brows furrow. What is he doing here?

And then—everything crashes back.

The boys. The accident. The terror of last night.

A sharp gasp escapes my lips and in the blink of an eye, I sit up straight. My breathing turns rapid, my chest rising and falling in panic. My hands grip the bedsheet tightly as fear creeps back into my body.

"Mira are you fine?"

I hear Abhiraj’s deep voice and the next second, he is rushing toward me. His eyes are filled with concern, his expression tight with worry.

I try to hold back my tears but the memories are too fresh, too raw. My lips tremble, my hands shake. Fear is curling inside my chest, making it hard to breathe.

"It’s okay. Everything is fine. There’s nothing to worry about" he says softly his voice calm yet firm.

I swallow hard, forcing myself to nod. But my hands are still trembling, my heart still racing.

"Miraaa!"

Jiya’s voice reaches my ears and within seconds, she bursts into the room. Her face is pale with worry, her eyes scanning for any injury.

The moment she reaches me, I throw my arms around her, hugging her tightly.

A sob breaks free from my throat. My body shakes as silent tears stream down my face.

"Shhh… Everything is fine. Don’t cry" she whispers patting my back gently.

But I can’t stop. The fear the helplessness....it all comes rushing out in the form of endless tears.

I see Dev and Abhiraj exchanging a glance before quietly walking out of the room, giving us privacy.

Zar is still sitting beside me. His little face is red, his lips pressed together as if trying not to cry. But his big, tear-filled eyes give him away.

I take a deep breath, trying to calm myself.

Jiya suddenly clenches her fists, her face twisting in anger. "How can I be so weak?" she grits out. "I wish I hadn’t fainted. I would have taught them a lesson!"

I wipe my tears, feeling the same frustration deep inside me.

"Thank God we are safe" I whisper. "But…" I pause the images flashing in my mind again. My hands tighten into fists. "I can’t erase those memories."

Jiya sighs, her gaze softening as she strokes my head gently.

"How did we come here?" I ask my voice small.

"They brought us here" she says, nodding toward the door, meaning Abhiraj and Dev.

I slowly turn my head toward Zar. He is still sitting beside me, his small hands clenched into fists on his lap. Tears are pooled in his eyes, threatening to fall.

"Why are you crying?" I ask softly reaching out to wipe his tears.

The moment my fingers touch his face, he throws himself at me.

"Zar don’t cry. I’m fine" I whisper feeling my heart ache at his pain.

He pulls back just enough to look at my face, his lips quivering.

I give him a weak smile, trying to reassure him. Trying to reassure myself.

And I hug him back holding on to the only warmth I can find in this moment.

"Who would believe you're a mafia tiger Zar?" Jiya teases trying to lighten the mood. I chuckle softly.

"He’s my cute cat" I say not wanting him to worry about me anymore.

Zar moves away from me and looks at Jiya, his eyes scanning her from head to toe. His gaze stops at the bandage on her arm.

"Ohh I’m fine too Zar" Jiya says quickly as if reading his thoughts.

He nods, looking between the two of us still unsure.

"We should go home" I say feeling a strong urge to be in our own space again.

Jiya nods in agreement.

But then my eyes drop to my clothes and I pause. I’m wearing an oversized t-shirt and shorts. My brows furrow in confusion.

"Wait… who changed our clothes?" I ask suddenly feeling self conscious.

"The maid" she says simply.

I relax at her words understanding now. But I still feel a little awkward, noticing that the t-shirt I’m wearing is clearly Abhiraj’s. It reaches only to my mid thighs and the shorts feel more like full length pants on me.

Before I can think more about it, we hear a knock.

"Can we come in?" Dev’s voice calls from outside.

Jiya and I exchange glances before saying, "Yes." Dev and Abhiraj step inside.

"How are you Mira?" Dev asks his voice gentle.

"I’m fine" I nod. A small smile appears on his face.

"Thank you both so much for saving us" I say sincerely, looking at them with gratitude. They both smile in return.

"Let’s have breakfast" Dev says, changing the subject.

Jiya and I nod. Everyone stands up and starts heading toward the door. I also get up but before I can take a step, Abhiraj gently holds my wrist just for a second before quickly letting go.

"Are you fine?" he asks but his tone is deeper, as if he means more than just the words he’s saying.

I meet his eyes and take a small breath. "Yes I’m fine. I just need some time to digest everything" I admit.

He gives me a soft smile. "You’re really brave" he says and somehow, his words bring a strange peace to my heart.

"Go and freshen up. Then come downstairs. I’ve kept a dress for you there" he adds before stepping away giving me space.

I watch him leave, then head to his washroom. The warm water soothes me a little as I freshen up. Once done, I change into the dress he left for me and go downstairs.

Everyone is already seated at the dining table. Jiya is busy teasing Zar about something and he is making an annoyed face. Seeing them act normal makes me feel a little lighter. I take a seat beside Jiya.

The helpers start serving breakfast. The air is silent, almost awkward. Nobody is saying anything.

"Did you like the food?" Dev finally asks breaking the silence.

"Yes we liked it. It’s tastier than what Jiya makes" I tease. Jiya gasps dramatically and glares at me. Dev chuckles.

"Zar eat" Abhiraj’s voice comes from across the table.

But Zar isn’t eating. Instead, he keeps looking between Jiya and me, as if watching over us. I smile at him. He is sitting right beside me.

"Bring milk for Zar. You know, Mira he loves milk a lot" Dev says with amusement.

I turn to Zar in surprise. "Wow! That’s really good. Everyone should drink milk" I say gently ruffling his hair.

Zar however glares at Dev for some reason. I don’t understand why. A helper places a bowl in front of Zar. He looks at it, then at me.

"Drink it, you love milk, right Zar?" Dev says with a smirk.

Zar slowly lowers his face towards the bowl and starts drinking. I smile at him. He looks up at me and gives me a small smile....or maybe a forced one.

"You both should rest. No need to come to work unless you’re feeling completely fine" Abhiraj says firmly.

We nod in agreement. I just want to go home.

The rest of breakfast goes by with mostly Dev talking while the rest of us listen.

We finally leave in their car but instead of them dropping us, their driver takes us home.

The moment we step inside, Jiya suddenly turns to me, her face guilty.

"I’m really sorry" she says softly.

I frown confused. "Why are you saying sorry?"

"For leaving you in that situation" she whispers her eyes filled with regret. I shake my head immediately and playfully hit her arm.

"Don’t say that! You didn’t leave me or run away. You fainted Jiya. That’s not your fault" I say firmly. She still looks unsure.

"We’ve been through worse things in life right? This is just a few hours of bad memories. We’ll recover from it" I say but deep inside, I’m not sure if I believe my own words.

Still, I don’t want her to blame herself. She tried her best to save me. And right now we’re both going through the same pain.

"Let’s finish this topic here. Forget about it. Let’s pretend nothing like this ever happened" I say forcing a smile.

Jiya nods slowly then without warning, she pulls me into a tight hug.

Abhiraj's pov

I step into my basement, the air thick with the stench of blood and damp concrete. My footsteps echo as I walk towards the last section..an area barely used because it’s the most dangerous part of my basement. Only the worst ones are kept here. The ones who deserve the cruelest punishments.

The guards silently open the heavy metal door and the moment we enter, Zar bolts forward at full speed. His sharp claws scrape against the floor before he pounces on the man I shot yesterday—the same man who was hovering over Mira.

A deafening scream fills the air.

"AAAHHHH! AHHHHH!"

The man thrashes wildly, his eyes wide with terror as Zar sinks his teeth into his leg and rips it apart from his body. Blood splatters across the cold floor. His agonized screams mix with the deep, menacing growls of my tiger.

Roar! Roar!

Zar's roar shakes the walls before he lunges at another one. The others start whimpering, pressing themselves against the walls but there's nowhere to run. His claws tear through flesh and the only sounds in the room are his ferocious growls and their tortured cries.

The sight soothes me. My blood, which had been boiling with rage, cools down slightly.

Zar returns to me his beautiful white fur now drenched in red. His eyes are burning with fury, glowing like molten lava. He looks at me, then at Dev, waiting for the next move.

Dev steps forward gripping a thick iron rod in his hands. His expression is blank but his eyes hold a deadly promise.

"Who hit the girl on her head?" His voice is low, controlled but filled with danger.

The men tremble exchanging panicked glances. No one speaks.

"Tell me" Dev continues, taking slow deliberate steps toward them. "Or else… his punishment will be nothing compared to what I’ll do to the rest of you"

His tone is calm, almost casual but the weight of his words makes the men flinch.

One of them finally breaks pointing a shaking finger at his partner. "H...he did it."

Dev's lips curl into a cold smirk. "Untie him."

The guards obey. The man drops to the floor, his hands trembling as he scrambles backward.

Too late.

Dev swings the rod with full force.

CRACK!

The impact is brutal. Blood spurts from the man’s head, splattering on the floor.

"How. Dare. You. Touch. Her." Dev growls, punctuating each word with a merciless strike.

The man’s body twitches but Dev doesn’t stop. He keeps hitting over and over, until the skull cracks open, exposing the pulpy mess inside. The air reeks of blood and death.

Dev finally tosses the rod aside breathing heavily. His face is splattered with red but his expression is satisfied.

I take a deep breath, my gaze shifting to the rest of them. Their faces are pale eyes filled with horror. Good.

Slowly I slip on my special gloves. The outer layer is covered in small, sharp needles...designed for one purpose only.

Pain.

"Who slapped her?" I ask my voice dangerously soft.

This time they don’t hesitate. They immediately point at one man who looks like he’s about to collapse from fear.

The guards untie him and he falls to the ground, his whole body shaking. I grab his collar yanking him to his feet. His breath comes out in short, desperate gasps.

SLAP!

I strike him across the face.

A scream rips from his throat as he crashes to the floor. A chunk of his flesh is left behind on my glove. Blood oozes from his torn cheek, staining the cold floor beneath him.

He writhes in agony, clutching his face but I don’t stop.

I grab him again and punch him.

Again. Again. Again.

Each hit lands with sickening force. His cries grow weaker, his body limp but I don’t care. I want to hear him suffer. I want his pain to echo the way Mira’s cries must have echoed when they hurt her.

Finally I shove him to the ground, breathing hard. He’s barely conscious now. I turn to my guards. "Open it"

They nod and unlock a massive metal gate. The remaining men freeze their eyes darting toward the dark tank on the other side.

The moment the lid lifts, the water inside churns violently. Sharks.

Not just any sharks....Tiger sharks. Great white sharks. Bull sharks.

The predators immediately sense fresh meat. Their sleek bodies thrash against the glass, their razor sharp teeth glinting under the dim lights.

The men start screaming.

Pleading.

Begging.

I smirk.

"How long have they been hungry?" I ask my head guard not taking my eyes off the terrified faces in front of me.

"A full day" he replies.

Perfect.

I give him a small nod and my guards begin tying the men up with thick chains. The chains are attached to a mechanism that slowly lowers them into the tank.

As soon as their bodies dangle above the water, the sharks go wild.

I press a button.

SWOOSH!

They plunge down for a few seconds before I stop it bringing them back up. Their legs are gone.

Blood drips from their stumps pooling beneath them as they scream like dying animals.

I do it again.

And again.

Each time more of them is devoured, their agony stretching longer. Then finally I let go.

Splash!

Their bodies disappear beneath the water. The water turns crimson. Their screams are silenced.

I watch the scene unfold feeling satisfied in a way I haven’t felt in a long time. This is what they deserved.

This is how they made my Mira suffer. This is what they earned.

Zar paces beside me his tail swishing lazily. He looks amused, smirking in his own animalistic way.

Dev wipes the blood off his hands and leans back in his chair. "That felt good."

I exhale deeply running a hand through my hair.

"Let’s go" I say. With one last glance at the blood filled tank, I turn around and walk out And I feel at peace.
