Chapter 27

25.

Loved by Mafia

Abhiraj's POV

"Where are they? I'm hungry" Dev complains, resting his head on the dining table.

I shake my head at his antics. He isn't actually dying of hunger....he just wants to see Jiya.

"They must be getting ready" I reply while checking my messages from Varun.

Suddenly, a loud roar echoes in the room. Zar growls and looks toward the staircase. Dev and I immediately turn in the same direction.

The moment my eyes land on Mira, my breath hitches. She is walking downstairs, draped in a black saree. She looks breathtaking—so gorgeous and so mine.

mira↑

"Meri wali to bomb lag rahi hai" Dev mutters, staring at Jiya. His condition is just like mine.

(My girl is looking bomb)

Jiya↑

I smirk and say, "Meri wali to item bomb lag rahi hai" my gaze fixed on my baby.

(Mine is looking like an item bomb)

Mira finally reaches me and stops right in front of me. Her beautiful eyes shine as she asks softly "How am I looking?"

"Mine" I whisper and her cheeks turn a deep shade of pink. She looks away, trying to hide her blush but Dev and Jiya don't miss the moment. They immediately start teasing us, laughing and exchanging knowing glances.

I take a step closer, my voice turning softer. "You are looking beautiful as always"

She smiles, looking down shyly.

"But why are you both wearing sarees? Something special?" Dev asks as we all settle at the dining table.

"We girls don’t need a special reason to wear new clothes" Jiya says casually while taking a bite of her food. "And today, every woman in our department is wearing a black saree so we decided to wear it too."

They continue chatting about random topics but my mind is elsewhere.

My entire focus stays on Mira.

Since last night, I haven't been able to sleep properly. My mind has been restless and my thoughts won’t settle. I know I won’t be at peace until I teach that bastard a lesson. I need to find him soon. Mira and Jiya’s safety is my priority. Jiya isn’t in much danger....no one knows she’s my sister. But Mira... Many know her as my partner. Many people are aware of our connection. That makes her an easy target.

A soft touch pulls me out of my thoughts. I feel a warm hand on my thigh.

Turning my head, I see Mira looking at me with a pure, gentle smile. Just seeing her expression makes my tension start to fade.

"Why aren’t you eating?" she asks in a low voice.

I shake my head, not wanting to worry her. "Nothing" I say though my mind is still heavy.

She watches me for a moment, then asks softly "Are you okay?"

I nod again, even though I don’t feel okay at all.

Mira doesn’t push me for answers. She simply goes back to eating but her hand stays where it is....resting on my thigh. Her touch is warm, reassuring. Without saying a word, she lets me know she is here for me.

After breakfast, we step outside.

"I have to go somewhere else today. You go ahead" Dev says.

I glance at him for a second before nodding. Without another word, I sit inside my car.

Just before the car starts moving, my eyes find Mira and Jiya again. They are walking towards their car, chatting with each other. I watch them for a moment.

Then, my car moves out of the mansion.

Mira's POV

"Jiya, come. I'll drop you today" Dev says looking at Jiya.

Jiya glances at me, unsure.

"No, I'll go with Mira" she says and is about to sit in my car. But I quickly push her away.

"Go! You won’t get this chance again and again" I whisper shout at her.

She hesitates, looking at me uncertainly. But after a moment, she sighs and walks toward Dev's car.

My driver starts the car and I lean back, looking outside the window. The morning is peaceful, the soft sunlight filtering through the trees, the quiet roads, the light breeze. I let my mind wander, lost in thoughts, enjoying the view.

But after a while, something feels off.

I blink and realize I have no idea where my car is going. The road is unfamiliar, the surroundings different. A small frown forms on my face.

The car suddenly comes to a stop.

Snapping out of my thoughts, I look around in confusion. This isn't my usual route.

I turn to my driver. "Where are we? And why did you stop the car here?"

But instead of answering, he just smiles at me.

A strange, uneasy feeling creeps into my chest. My driver steps out of the car. A chill runs down my spine.

I quickly open the door and step out too, my heart pounding. "I'm asking you something! Why did you bring me here?" I shout my voice sharp with panic.

He doesn’t answer. He just stands there, silent. I turn my head and look around.

We are in front of a small bungalow, surrounded by trees. The place looks abandoned, hidden deep inside the jungle.

A cold shiver runs through me. Something is wrong. Very wrong.

"Welcome, Mira" a deep voice calls out. My body stiffens.

I quickly turn toward the voice and see a man standing a few steps away.

He looks around Abhiraj's age. His dark eyes study me with a strange, unsettling expression. My breath feels heavy.

"Why am I here?" I ask my voice firm, trying to stay calm.

The man doesn’t answer. He just smiles. A slow, creepy smile that sends a wave of fear through me.

"Come inside. We’ll talk" he says and starts walking toward the house.

I quickly glance at my driver, hoping for some explanation. But he remains silent and simply follows the man inside.

My hands clench into fists. I don’t want to go in. But standing outside alone feels even more dangerous.

Taking a deep breath, I force my feet to move. Step by step, I walk into the house. The moment I step inside, my eyes scan the place.

The living room is dimly lit. A large couch sits in the middle and the man is already there, comfortably seated.

He looks at me and gestures toward the couch across from him. "Sit"

My heartbeat is loud in my ears but I keep my face neutral. Slowly, I walk toward the couch and sit down. I grip the edge of my saree, my fingers curling tightly around the fabric.

"Why am I here? Tell me" I ask again my patience running thin, my voice laced with irritation.

But the man just smiles again, as if enjoying my discomfort.

“Cool babe cool” he says in a lazy tone. I make a disgusted face. The way he speaks makes my skin crawl.

“Actually, you are kidnapped” he adds with a smirk. For a moment I just stare at him. Then suddenly, I burst out laughing.

“Ohh so I’m kidnapped huh?” I say shaking my head. “You know, my driver is the best fighter. And also, there’s a car full of guards following us” I cross my arms, watching his reaction.

But this time, they laugh. My driver—who I trusted—smirks at me.

“I am a fighter you’re right” he says his voice calm, almost mocking. “But I won’t fight for Rajvansh. And that car full of guards? They are nowhere near you now. And they will never find where you are”

His words send a cold shiver down my spine. My stomach clenches as reality starts to sink in.

I turn my attention back to the man sitting in front of me. “Why did you kidnap me?” I ask my voice sharp.

He doesn’t answer immediately. Instead he smirks, his fingers casually playing with a gun in his hand.

“First of all, forget about escaping” he says in a relaxed tone. “This place is in the middle of a dangerous jungle. My men are everywhere. You won’t make it far”

He leans back slightly, looking at me. “And second” he adds tilting his head “my name is Karan”

I clench my jaw. “I don’t care about your name. Tell me why you brought me here. Not some bullshit” I snap my patience running thin.

But he just laughs, shaking his head.

“You see” he starts his eyes darkening “I used to work under your boyfriend....Abhiraj. But he never gave me what I actually deserved” I stay silent, listening.

“Every bit of hard work is done by people like us. But whom do people fear and respect? Abhiraj Singh Rajvansh. Not us” he says bitterness dripping from his voice.

His fingers tighten around the gun.

“That’s why I decided to snatch his power. His empire. Everything from him” I watch him closely, my heartbeat steady.

“I tried a few times” he continues “but I failed. But not this time” His smirk returns.

“Because this time, I have you”

He leans forward slightly, watching me carefully.

“This driver of yours....he worked under Abhiraj for six years” Karan says, gesturing toward the man standing beside him. “But he’s been in my party too. He told me everything.......every single thing happening in Abhiraj’s life”

My eyes flicker toward my so called driver. His face shows no regret, no guilt.

“And when I found out that Abhiraj has a woman in his life… someone he loves with everything he has…” Karan chuckles darkly. “I knew exactly what I had to do” I keep my expression unreadable.

“I had to take away his weakest point”

His gaze roams over me slowly. “And now” he continues, voice dripping with confidence “I’ll make you mine. Because you are really beautiful and  soon I will be the new mafia king”

He looks at me, waiting for a reaction.

I simply lean back against the couch, crossing my arms. A slow amused smirk appears on my lips.

“If you hate him this much” I say my voice calm and smooth “then congratulations" I tilt my head slightly, locking eyes with him.

“We’re on the same team” Karan’s expression shifts. He looks shocked.

Abhiraj’s POV

I enter my cabin and drop onto my chair, my mind restless.

My best hacker and head guard are already sitting in front of me, their faces serious.

“Did you find anything about him?” I ask my voice sharp.

They don’t answer immediately. Instead, they look down, avoiding my gaze. I sigh heavily and rub my temple, trying to control my frustration.

“How much more time do you need?” My voice is low but dangerous.

“Just one day, sir” my head guard replies immediately. “One day is enough and we will find him. He will be at your feet”

I nod but my patience is wearing thin.

Just then, my phone starts ringing. Jiya.

A strange feeling creeps into my chest. Why is she calling me?

I quickly answer. “Hello?” My voice is firm waiting for her to speak.

“Is Mira with you?” Jiya asks. Her words make my heartbeat speed up.

I sit up straight, my grip tightening on the phone. “No, she’s not with me. Didn’t she come with you?” I ask my hands already moving to open the CCTV footage of her desk.

My eyes scan the screen. She’s not there. Panic starts to build inside me.

“I came with Dev today” Jiya says her voice growing tense. “When I reached our desk, Mira wasn’t there” My fingers curl into fists.

“Relax” I say even though I, myself, am far from calm. “I’ll find where she is.”

I cut the call immediately. My hands move fast as I dial Mira’s number.

The phone rings.

Once. Twice.

She doesn’t pick up.

I try again.

Still no answer.

My breathing grows heavier. I try calling her driver next. No response. A cold suffocating fear grips my chest. Something is wrong. Something is very, very wrong.

I turn to my hacker. “Track Mira’s location” I order my voice sharp.

Without wasting a second, he pulls out his laptop and starts working. I force myself to stay still but my fingers are trembling slightly.

I never take risks when it comes to Mira. That’s why I had placed a tracker in her ring.

Not just her ring....her footwear, her bag, her jewelry. Every damn thing. She is mine. And I will never let anything happen to her.

“Sir…” My hacker’s voice suddenly breaks through my thoughts. He looks up from the laptop, his face pale.

“Ma’am is outside the city” he says, his voice tight. “In the most dangerous jungle of our city”

My breath stops for a second. A heavy silence fills the room. Then....rage. Panic. A burning fire surges inside me. Mira is in danger. And I swear, whoever took her is going to beg for mercy.

“Inform everyone about the location!” I shout my voice echoing through the walls.

Without wasting a second, I run out of my cabin, my heart pounding in my chest.

Zar runs beside me, his sharp eyes filled with alertness. My head guard follows closely behind. I grab my phone and call Dev.

“Mira is kidnapped! I’m sending you the location....come there fast!” I shout my voice shaking with rage.

He tries to say something but I don’t let him complete his sentence. I cut the call immediately.

A single scratch on her body and I swear...I will turn this world upside down.

I rush out of the elevator and head straight for the parking area.

Zar jumps into the passenger seat as I slide into the driver’s seat. My hands are shaking, my mind clouded with worry and fury.

Just as I’m about to start the car, I see Jiya running towards me. She doesn’t hesitate. She yanks the car door open and jumps inside.

“I’ll go with you Bhai!” she says her voice filled with determination.

I don’t argue. I don’t have the time.

I slam my foot on the accelerator, and the car roars to life speeding out of the parking lot.

I don’t care about the traffic. I don’t care about anything. I just need to get to Mira.

The thought of something happening to her...of her being hurt....makes my body tremble with rage.

No. She will be safe. She has to be safe. My entire force follows behind, their cars racing to keep up with mine.

Then, my phone rings. I glance at the screen. Unknown number. My jaw tightens. I know who it is. I connect the call and put it on speaker, gripping the steering wheel tightly.

I wait, my breath uneven, my pulse hammering. But instead of his voice…I hear Mira’s voice.

“Do you really think I love that dumb Abhiraj?” she says her tone dripping with mockery.

My hands freeze on the steering wheel. The world stops. My heart stops. What… what did she just say?

I press down on the accelerator harder, the car jerking forward violently. No. No. She doesn’t mean that.

“I never loved him and I can never love a person like him” Her voice is firm, emotionless. Like I meant nothing. Like I was never hers.

“I’m just using him because he has everything a girl wants....money, power. That’s the main reason I’m with him”

The words hit me like a bullet. A sharp, burning pain spreads through my chest. No. She’s lying. She has to be lying.

Mira loves me.

She told me she loves me.

So why…Why is she saying all this? My grip on the steering wheel tightens until my knuckles turn white. Rage surges through my veins like fire. My body is trembling. My blood is boiling.

“Bhai, control! We will meet with an accident!” Jiya shouts, gripping the seat as the car speeds dangerously.

But I can’t stop. I won’t stop. My anger is burning inside me like wildfire.

Why? Why did she say she doesn’t love me?

Why? Why? WHY?

“You know when I found out he loves me I was the happiest person on this earth…” Mira’s voice echoes from the speaker.

But her next words make my heart stop.

“…Not because of his love but because of his money” My breath hitches. No.

“I will take everything from him slowly and then leave him forever”

My grip on the steering wheel tightens so much that my fingers start to ache.

“And my strongest point?” She laughs, and I swear my blood runs cold. “He is so madly in love with me that he can do anything for me”

The world around me blurs. The roads, the buildings, the honking cars......nothing matters.

Only her words.

Her every word stabbing my heart like a knife.

“I thought about running away from him but when I saw his wealth, I stayed. But not for long. And since you hate him as much as I do…” She pauses, her voice turning sharp. “Let’s shake hands. You want his power. I want his money”

My jaw clenches. My entire body shakes. She.....she can’t be saying this.

She’s lying.

She has to be.

“Bhai, Mira is not like this! Trust me!” Jiya’s desperate voice pulls me back but my mind is too clouded.

I need to hear this from her mouth. Is she really lying? Or is this the truth?

If it’s true… If she was only after my money… Then she will see a new side of Abhiraj Singh Rajvansh.

I will never hurt her.....I can never think of hurting her.

But I will do something so terrifying that she will beg to stay with me. I hear her voice again, i think she is unaware that I’m listening.

“Call him and tell him to send money. If he refuses, tell him you’ll kill me. Then he’ll give you whatever amount you ask for”

She laughs. She actually laughs. My hands turn ice cold. My heart is rejecting every word she says. But my mind.....

My mind isn’t refusing them. The car screeches to a halt as we reach the location. Without wasting a second, I push the door open and step out.

My gun is already in my hand. Zar leaps out beside me, his loud roar shaking the ground. His blue eyes burn with rage, mirroring mine.

“So this is where he was hiding all this time” I mutter darkly.

My guards break open the gate and I storm inside without hesitation. My blood is boiling. My hands are shaking. My heart is screaming. But my face......

My face is blank. Cold. Deadly. Her words keep ringing in my ears.

“I want his money”

“I was never in love with him”

I will find out the truth. And if she really used me....

Then Mira Rao has no idea what Abhiraj Singh Rajvansh can do.

That freak Karan's men rush toward me with weapons but my guards are already ahead of them.

Gunshots echo in the air.

Screams follow.

But I don’t stop. I won’t stop. Not until I see her. Not until I hear her say those words to my face. Not until I find out.....

Whether Mira Rao is my love.

Or my biggest betrayal.

I see Dev running toward me. He looks like he wants to say something, but I don’t care.

I don’t listen. I don’t stop. I just want Mira in front of me. I want her to say every word she spoke was a lie. Because if it’s the truth.....

Then the entire country will witness something they have never imagined before.

The moment I step inside, my eyes find her. She stands up abruptly, her body tensing.

She is with him. The man who dared to take her. The man who dared to use her against me. Mira's eyes lock onto mine. She is looking at me.

I lift my gun.......

And without sparing that bastard a glance I pull the trigger.

BANG!

“AHHHH!” His agonizing scream fills the room as he falls to the ground.

I see Mira flinch at the sound but I will not stop. I step forward, my gun still raised. The bastard groans in pain, clutching his stomach where my bullet hit.

I aim again.

BANG!

His hand.

BANG!

His leg.

BANG!

His shoulder.

I keep shooting.

Again.

And again.

And again.

My fury is pouring out of me through every bullet. Every shot feels like payback for the pain he has caused.

For the betrayal he made me feel. For the doubts he created in my mind. For the words Mira spoke. I hear Mira gasp. I hear Jiya’s sharp inhale.

“ABHI! He is already dead!” Dev’s voice cuts through the air. But I don’t stop.

I only stop when my gun clicks, empty. My chest is rising and falling heavily.

I stare at the lifeless body of the man who thought he could outsmart Abhiraj Singh Rajvansh.

I kick his corpse aside like the trash he is. Then my eyes snap to the traitor.

Mira’s driver.

The man who fed information to my enemies. The man who betrayed me.

He stands there, trembling, knowing what’s coming for him. I turn to my guards.

“Take him to the basement” I order my voice cold and sharp.

“Give him the most special treatment” The guards nod and drag him away.

His screams are already ringing in my ears. But I don’t feel an ounce of pity.

I turn back to her. Mira. She is staring at me. And then....

She smiles.

A smile.

Is she mocking me?

Laughing at my stupidity?

At the fact that I fell into her trap so easily?

My rage surges again. I take slow, dangerous steps toward her. My eyes burn red. My breathing is heavy, uncontrolled.

“Abhi listen.....” Dev tries to stop me.

But I don’t listen. I grab Mira’s wrist tightly yet softly. She gasps at my action but I don’t care. I start dragging her with me.

Her small hands struggle in my grip but I don’t let go. I hear Jiya calling my name. I hear Dev trying to reason with me. But their voices mean nothing to me right now.

"Mira, stop struggling" I growl dragging her toward my car.

"Abhiraj! Stop! Where are you taking me? What happened to you?!" she shouts, her voice full of panic.

I don’t answer. I yank open the car door and push her inside. She looks up at me, eyes wide, breathing heavy.

“Why are....” she tries to say something but I press my finger against her lips.

“Not. A. Single. Word.”

My voice is cold. Colder than I have ever used with her. She swallows hard. Tears pool in her eyes. Her lips tremble.

I slam the door shut and move to the driver’s seat. I grip the steering wheel tightly, my knuckles turning white.

My blood is boiling.

My mind is a mess.

I start the car and press down on the accelerator hard. The tires screech as we speed away. I don’t know what I’m doing. I don’t know where I’m going.

All I know is.....

I want to kill someone.

I want to burn this world.

“Abhiraj, slow down the car! Abhiraj!” Mira’s panicked voice rings in my ears.

I don’t listen. Instead, I press the accelerator harder. The speedometer climbs higher and higher.

"Abhiraj, please! Slow down!" She is crying now. Her sobs fill the car. Her voice shakes with fear.

But what about me? What about the pain inside me? My heart feels like it's being stabbed.....again and again. I grip the steering wheel even tighter.

Is she really taking advantage of me?

Is she really after my money?

The thoughts are driving me insane.

My vision blurs with rage.

The next moment.....

BANG!

The car crashes into another vehicle. Mira screams. I don’t stop. I don’t even look. I reverse the car and speed away again.

“Abhiraj please!” Her voice is pleading. Broken. I clench my jaw.

I can’t see her like this. But I can’t forget what she said. I don’t say a word. Because if I do....

I don’t know what I will say. I don’t know what I will do. I might hurt her. And I never want to hurt her.

I drive faster, my mind spiraling. Then, without thinking, I take the car toward the cliff. Mira grips my bicep tightly.

“Abhiraj, stop! Please!” She is screaming now. Begging me to stop.

The edge of the cliff comes closer.

But I don’t stop. The wind roars around us. The ground disappears beneath us.

At the last moment.....

I slam the brakes. The car jerks to a stop. Just inches away from the drop.

Silence.

I throw the door open and step out, my breath heavy. I run my hands through my hair, trying to calm myself. I feel like I am losing my mind.

I turn back. Mira is still inside the car. She hasn’t moved. She hasn’t said anything. Maybe.....

Maybe everything she said was true. Maybe she really doesn’t love me. But no.

No, I can’t believe it. Mira could never say those things. Not my Mira. But then.....

Why?

Why did she say all those things?
