Chapter 42

40.

Loved by Mafia

Dev's POV

I walk into the mansion, my eyes instantly finding Abhi. He’s sitting on the couch with my baby and Mira, deep in conversation about something serious.

Jiya notices me the moment I step inside. I walk toward her and sit beside her feeling a sense of calm just being near her.

“Where were you?” she asks softly, her eyes searching my face for answers.

I smile at her, brushing my fingers against her hand. “Just some work that needed my attention” I say. She nods, accepting my answer without pressing further and turns back to Mira, continuing their conversation.

Out of nowhere, my baby asks “Won't we go for our honeymoon?” Her voice is hopeful eyes sparkling with expectation.

I freeze for a moment before looking at her. “I’m really sorry but not now” I say carefully. I watch her face fall, the excitement in her eyes dimming.

My chest tightens seeing her disappointed expression. “After some time I promise” I add softly but I know it’s not enough to make up for it. I’m sorry, my love but it’s not the right time.

“I want to talk to you” Abhi’s deep voice cuts through the air as he stands up. His face is hard serious.

I sigh and follow him toward the home office inside the mansion. The heavy doors close behind us with a soft thud, creating a tense silence.

“Talk” he orders sharply, his tone hard and cold.

I take a deep breath, running my hand through my hair. “For the past three days, I’ve been getting calls from an unknown number” I start my voice low.

“At first, I ignored it but then I told our team to investigate. But the person calling… he’s smart, Abhi. Really sharp minded. He’s using advanced technology and our team hasn’t been able to track him” My hands clench into fists as I continue.

“The worst part is… he knows everything about us. Especially about Mira and Jiya. He’s trying to turn me against you. He knows too much, Abhi”

Before I can say anything more, a sharp, stinging pain explodes across my cheek. Abhi’s hand drops back to his side, his jaw clenched.

“You’re telling me this now?” he growls his eyes burning with anger as he runs a hand through his hair in frustration. His chest rises and falls with heavy breaths.

I rub my cheek not surprised by his reaction. “I didn’t want to disturb you during the wedding and everything going on” I say quietly.

Abhi’s eyes narrow as he gives me a hard look, his disbelief clear. His fists tighten at his sides, his jaw working as he struggles to keep his temper in check.

“I wasn’t the only one getting married. You were also getting married!” Abhi snaps his teeth gritted and eyes blazing with frustration. His body is tense shoulders stiff as he glares at me.

I swallow hard and run my hand through my hair. “I know… and I was the one who went into the company and accessed the confidential information” I say, my voice low but steady.

“I was trying to make him believe that I had fallen into his trap that I was a victim of his plan. But he’s really sharp, Abhi. He didn’t even make a single move that would give me a hint about who he is” My hands tighten into fists as the frustration builds in my chest.

Abhi’s eyes narrow dangerously. “If he wants to break us apart… then let’s break apart” he says, a dark smirk curling his lips. His tone is low and threatening. “Let’s see if he has the guts to face us”

“But… Jiya and Mira” I say, my voice filled with worry. The thought of them getting hurt makes my stomach twist painfully.

Abhi’s smirk fades and his expression softens for a second. His eyes darken with concern as he glances toward the door, thinking about them. Slowly, he walks toward the couch and sits down resting his elbows on his knees.

“We can’t tell them anything” he says firmly. “They’re innocent. If they find out about this, they’ll stress over it. We’ll handle everything on our own” His gaze hardens with determination.

I nod slowly. He’s right. We can’t let them get involved in this mess.

“So… what do we do now?” I ask, sitting across from him. My chest still feels tight but at least now I have Abhi with me.

Abhi’s eyes sharpen as a sly smirk forms on his lips. “The person wants to turn us into enemies…” He leans back against the couch, his arms resting on the backrest. “Then let’s become enemies”

My eyes widen as I catch on to his plan. My heart races at the risk involved but I know it’s the only way to make that person show himself. “It’s risky” I say quietly “but we have to do it”

I move to sit beside him. Abhi’s gaze softens as he lifts his hand and gently strokes my cheek where he slapped me earlier. I look at him, confused.

“Sorry for hitting you” he says, his tone calm but sincere.

My eyes widen and I jerk his hand away dramatically. “Stay away from me! You hit me really hard, you idiot!” I snap glaring at him.

Abhi looks at me with innocent eyes, his lips twitching as if he’s trying not to laugh.

“I’m really sorry” he repeats softly but I scoff and stand up, walking toward the door. “I’m going to find my baby. I haven’t spent enough time with her”

Now that I’ve shared the problem with him, I feel lighter, like a weight has been lifted off my chest.

I walk into the living room with Abhi following close behind. My eyes scan the room. It’s unusually quiet.

“Where are they?” I ask, not seeing Jiya, Mira or even Zar anywhere.

“They must be in their rooms” Abhi says casually, heading toward the staircase. I follow him upstairs, feeling a bit more relaxed now.

But what we don’t know… is that we’re about to get a serious scolding from our dear wives.

Jiya's POV

I’m sitting on the bed in my room, scrolling through my phone. The door opens and my dear husband walks in. His eyes immediately find me and he comes directly toward the bed.

I ignore him and keep my eyes glued to my phone, pretending he isn’t there. He stops in front of me, looking confused.

“What happened, baby?” Dev asks softly sitting down beside me. His hand reaches out to hold mine but I quickly jerk it away.

His eyes widen slightly and I see him swallow nervously as he notices the anger on my face.

“Don’t talk to me!” I snap shifting away from him. “Go and spend your time with Bhai. You’re married to him not me, right?” My voice rises as I glare at him.

Dev watches me for a few seconds, realization dawning in his eyes. His lips part as if he’s about to say something but then he stays quiet.

He knows exactly why I’m upset. We just got married yesterday and instead of spending time with me, he’s been running off to the office or talking with Bhai.

“I’m really sorry baby” he says his tone soft and sincere. He scoots closer to me. “I had something important to discuss with Abhi that’s why I left. But now… my full focus is on you. Only you”

I try hard to control my smile when I hear his last words but my heart flutters. Still, I don’t let it show on my face. I sit there quietly, pretending to stay mad.

Dev sighs. “Sorry… please?” He gives me his best puppy eyes, his lips forming a small pout. But I keep my face cold ignoring him completely.

Suddenly he leans closer to me. His face is so close that I can feel his breath on my skin. My breath hitches, and my heart starts beating faster.

“Sorry” he whispers his eyes soft and intense. Before I can react, he presses his lips softly on mine.

I freeze. My heart races in my chest but I don’t kiss him back. I don’t push him away either. He doesn’t give up.

He deepens the kiss, pulling me closer by my waist. His hand slides up my back, his touch soft yet possessive. A shiver runs down my spine as his lips move slowly against mine.

A soft moan escapes my lips before I can stop it. He takes full advantage of it. His tongue slips inside my mouth, exploring every inch of me with a teasing slowness that makes my head spin. My hands tighten into fists as I feel my body melt under his touch.

I finally push him away when I’m out of breath, gasping softly. My chest rises and falls rapidly as I try to steady my breathing.

He smirks slightly and strokes my cheek with his thumb. Then he pulls me onto his chest, wrapping his strong arms around me. My cheek rests against his heartbeat, which is just as fast as mine.

“Did you forgive me?” he asks his voice low and teasing.

I lift my head and glare at him. “You kissed me because you wanted to not because you were trying to make me talk to you” I say narrowing my eyes at him.

His arms tighten around my waist, pulling me closer until our noses almost touch. His eyes darken slightly as he looks down at me.

“Then let me worship your body and ask for forgiveness” he says, his voice low and hot enough to set the world on fire. His eyes darken and his hand slides down my waist.

I gulp feeling my body heat up under his gaze. But then I remember  I’m still angry with him. I quickly push him away sitting up straight.

“First you ignore me and now you’re playing innocent huh?” I snap, crossing my arms over my chest. My eyes narrow as I glare at him.

Dev’s lips twitch into a small pout. “I didn’t ignore you” he says softly, his eyes wide and innocent.

“I can’t even think of ignoring you. Please… just forgive me this time” he pleads his voice soft and almost desperate.

I scoff and raise an eyebrow at him. “Next time you make a mistake, remember I’ll give you a hard lesson” I threaten my tone sharp.

But instead of looking scared, Dev’s eyes darken with a mischievous glint. His lips curl into a smirk. “Hard lesson?” he repeats his voice low and teasing.

My eyes widen when I realize how he’s taken my words. I smack his chest hard. “Shameless!” I mumble my cheeks burning with embarrassment.

Dev chuckles, his chest vibrating under my hand. He suddenly pulls me toward him, wrapping his strong arms around my waist. My body presses against his chest as he rests his chin on my shoulder.

I give up and relax against him resting my head on his chest. His heartbeat is steady and calming and I feel like I’m home. His hand moves up and down my back in slow, soothing strokes.

“You and Bhai are worried about something” I say quietly. “I can feel it. What’s going on?”

Dev’s body tenses slightly but then he shakes his head. “Nothing babe” he says softly. “It’s just a small problem. We’ll fix it soon”

I lift my head to look at him but his expression is calm too calm. He’s hiding something but I decide not to push him right now.

“I and Mira are going to resume work next week” I say brushing my fingers against his chest.

His arms tighten around me immediately. “No” he says firmly. “Not this soon. Take some rest first. And even if you don’t work, it’s fine. Just relax and enjoy your time. I’m working enough for both of us” His tone is protective, his eyes soft as he looks down at me.

I smile. My husband never fails to amaze me with his words. My heart melts at how much he cares. I lean in and place a soft kiss on his chest, feeling his heartbeat quicken under my lips.

“I love you” I whisper against his skin, my voice barely audible.

His hand slides up my back, his fingers stroking my hair. “I love you too, wifey” he says his voice filled with warmth.

I smile against his chest, feeling completely at peace in his arms.

Abhiraj’s POV

I walk into our room and immediately spot my love sitting on the couch with Zar beside her. They are both leaning toward each other, completely focused on something on the phone.

Curious, I walk toward the couch and sit beside my baby. Mira and Zar glance at me for a second, then go back to staring at the phone screen.

Did they just ignore me?

“What are you both doing?” I ask, leaning closer to see the phone screen. My brows lift when I read the video title — ‘How to kill a person without being caught.’

My eyes widen in surprise. “Whom do you want to kill?” I ask laughing lightly.

Both of them turn to look at me with dead serious expressions. I quickly press my lips together to stop myself from smiling.

“You” my baby says flatly.

My eyes widen even more. “Me?” I ask blinking rapidly.

She crosses her arms over her chest, her face hard and serious. I chuckle innocently which — let’s be honest — I’m not.

“Why baby? What did I do?” I ask sweetly leaning toward her with a soft smile.

Mira puts the phone aside and turns fully toward me. Her sharp gaze meets mine and my smile fades a little.

“What have you done huh?” she snaps leaning closer. Her eyes are blazing with anger.

“I think you’ve forgotten, Mr. Rajvansh, that you got married yesterday and you have a wife” she says, her tone sharp.

“Since morning, you’ve barely paid attention to me or Zar. So now, stay away from both of us. We’re enough for each other” she adds her chin lifting defiantly.

She moves toward me and I lean back slightly on the couch. Before I know it she’s practically on top of me, her face inches from mine.

My eyes drop  and I instantly regret it. Her chest is right in front of my face. My mind instantly flashes back to last night. My cheeks heat up as I remember how soft her breasts felt under my hands.

I shake my head trying to push away the wild thoughts running through my mind. Focus, Abhi. Focus!

“Where are you lost?” Mira’s sharp voice cuts through my thoughts.

Before I can respond, I feel a sharp sting on my cheek. My head snaps to the side as the sound of the slap echoes in the room.

My hand flies to my cheek and I look at her with wide eyes and a small pout.

“I’m sorry but I really had urgent work” I say softly, my tone sincere.

Mira sighs loudly and sits back on the couch, crossing her arms over her chest and huffing angrily. Her lips press into a thin line and I can tell she’s not going to forgive me that easily.

I sit up straight and scoot closer to her. My hand rests gently on her knee. “Actually… someone tried to steal our confidential file” I admit honestly, watching her expression carefully.

Her eyes widen in alarm as she looks at me with concern. “Did you catch him?” she asks her voice laced with worry.

I shake my head slowly. “We’re still trying to find him” I say. Her shoulders relax slightly as the worry in her eyes fades a little.

I gently pull her toward me by her waist. Mira stumbles slightly and ends up resting against my chest. Zar sits nearby, his curious eyes focused on me, clearly interested in this new information.

I lean back on the couch holding Mira against my chest. Her arms circle my waist as her head rests comfortably on my chest.

“Everything will be fine” she whispers softly. Her voice is so soothing that my chest instantly feels lighter. My fingers stroke her back gently as I close my eyes for a second, feeling peace wash over me.

But that peace doesn’t last long. Suddenly, Mira sits up straight and glares down at me with narrowed eyes.

“But why didn’t you tell me this earlier?” she demands standing up and crossing her arms over her chest again. Her sharp tone makes my eyes snap open.

I sit up my eyes immediately dropping to her chest — which happens to be right in front of my face. My throat goes dry as I feel the heat rush to my cheeks.

Without thinking, I blurt out “Your boobs are distracting me”

The moment the words leave my mouth, my eyes widen in horror. My gaze shoots up to her face, which is now bright red.

“I didn’t mean that!” I say quickly my hands flying up defensively. “I swear  I didn’t mean to say that!” My voice is rushed and panicked.

Mira’s eyes narrow dangerously her cheeks still flushed. “Oh?” she says slowly her tone low and sharp. “So… my boobs didn’t distract you?” Her eyes glint with mischief as she steps closer.

I shake my head frantically. “No! No...... I mean yes..... I mean…” I trail off helplessly.

Mira tilts her head her lips curling into a dangerous smirk. “Oh… so they didn’t distract you?” she repeats.

I stay completely silent knowing I’ve already dug my grave.

“Fine then. Stay away from me” she says turning toward the bed and walking away. Her hips sway slightly and my eyes helplessly follow her.

“Oh no, you’re not going anywhere” I say quickly standing up and grabbing her wrist before she can walk any further.

Mira’s head snaps toward me, her eyes blazing. I pull her close, my hand tightening around her wrist. Her breath hitches as her chest presses against mine.

“No… I didn’t mean that” I say quickly panicking. “I mean… your boobs do distract me”

Mira’s eyes narrow dangerously, her lips pressing into a thin line. Her glare sharpens and I swear I feel my heart drop.

“You are ruining my mood, Mr. Rajvansh” she says coldly. She tries to pull her wrist away from my grip but I tighten my hold and pull her closer until her body presses against mine.

“Then let me fix your mood” I say, my voice low and rough. Before she can protest, I crash my lips on hers.

God, did I tell you how obsessed I’m getting with her lips? The softness the warmth — it’s driving me crazy.

My arms wrap tightly around her waist, pulling her body flush against mine. Her hands clutch the sides of my shirt tightly and I feel a rush of satisfaction at the way she holds on to me.

I tilt her head slightly to the side, deepening the kiss. My lips move over hers with growing hunger. Mira responds slowly at first her lips soft and hesitant.

But as my grip on her waist tightens, her arms slide around my neck and she starts kissing me back with the same intensity.

A low groan escapes my throat as I suck gently on her lower lip. I bite it lightly and a soft moan escapes from her mouth, making my breath hitch.

Her moan is pure death for me. My whole body tenses as heat floods through me.

Suddenly, Mira taps my hand repeatedly, signaling that she’s out of breath.

Reluctantly, I pull away resting my forehead against hers. Both of us are breathing heavily, our chests rising and falling in sync. Mira’s cheeks are flushed bright red and her lips are swollen from the kiss.

Her wide eyes blink at me as her breathing slowly steadies. But then her eyes widen even more in horror.

“Zar” she whispers.

Oh, crap.

Our heads snap toward the couch where Zar is sitting. His face is buried behind a pillow but his tail is wagging lightly. He peeks out from behind the pillow his big eyes blinking innocently at us.

I bite my lip, trying not to laugh at how adorable he looks.

Mira groans and pushes me away before walking toward Zar. She pulls the pillow away from his face and Zar gives her a wide, toothy smile looking totally unbothered.

“My baby is really intelligent… more than his dadda” Mira says proudly stroking Zar’s head.

I narrow my eyes at her. “Every time you praise him but never me” I say pouting like a child.

Mira smiles tilting her head. “That’s because my baby deserves it” she says sweetly kissing Zar’s head.

Zar smirks yes, my boy actually smirks  and looks at me like he knows he’s the favorite. His tail wags faster as he enjoys the attention.

“Oh you’re definitely in more demand than me” I mutter glaring at Zar.

Mira giggles and Zar roar softly, clearly enjoying my frustration.

“You both are ganging up on me” I say, crossing my arms and pretending to be hurt.

Mira laughs and sits down beside zar.  I give him a look but he only stretches lazily and rests his head on Mira’s lap.

We sit there together laughing and teasing each other. Mira’s anger completely melts away and the room fills with warmth and lightness. I wrap my arm around her shoulder, pulling her closer as we sit and talk, enjoying the moment.

Is it wrong to hope for a vote for our hard work🙂?
