Chapter 232
President’s Twins: Buy One, Get One Free
Joseph Beckhamâs questioning had let Harrison Beckham fall into silence, holding his brush.
Josephâs sonorous voice sounded in the study, âThree years ago if you hadnât been overly trusting Franklin, he wouldnât have had a bad idea and did something to hurt Noah. Back then you said just let this go by unsettled for the sake of relatives, as what happened had happened. I listened to you, but I didnât expect that you would use him again for he is such a person.â
Josephâs tone was full of disappointment to Harrison.
After all, Harrison was tremendous as he always put the saddle on the right horse. And he would never be reckless of the right and wrong just because it was the relatives.
Back then, Joseph had roughly investigated who was the one behind this who nearly got Noah Beckham killed. If it werenât for Harrison who stopped him, Franklin Hawkins would have ended up in jail.
âWhat happened three years ago might not have been done by Franklin. And there was no tangible evidence too.â
Harrison wrinkled his eyebrows in rage.
âWhat do you mean not having tangible evidence? Grandpa, Iâve shown you all the evidence, and you were the one who told me not to investigate further. As for the truth, you should have probably known it back then. Otherwise, why would you say this?â
Joseph was gloomy, âAre you getting muddler as you are old?â
The brush in Harrisonâs hand broke with a snap and fell on the rice paper.
A big stain was left on the rice paper. A deep and resonant voice, with a sense of anger, sounded in the room, âIâm old, but Iâm not muddled yet.
Joseph, do you really want me to make it clear to you? For the matter of Noah nearly died three years ago, do you really think that I didnât know who did it?â
Joseph frowned, âWhat do you mean by this?â
Harrison was sullen and very mad, âBack then I wanted you to get married and have a child but you refused. You even carried Noah back home just because you were angry at me. Let me ask you, have you ever perform your duties as a father? The incident three years was very suspicious. Those who had close contact with Noahâs nanny was not just Franklin only.â
As for raking up this unsettled old incident, all of them were doubtful, but Joseph didnât expect that Harrison would suspect him, âYou suspect me?â
âWhy canât I suspect you? Did you take Noah as your son back then? To you, is there anyone or anything that canât be exploited?â
Harrison was very gloomy.
Joseph clenched his fist, and after a moment of silent confrontation, a cold voice sounded in the room, âStarting tomorrow, the ST Group is passed to Franklin without the need of your dismissal. I quit.â
As he just said, a clear sound of opening and closing the door came from the study. Josephâs figure could no longer be seen before others reacted yet.
The housekeeper chased after Joseph at the door to put in some good words, but Joseph was wholly indifferent and just left.
âYoung master.â
âMark, come back.â
Mark wanted to chase after Joseph, but he was stopped in his tracks by a reproaching voice inside the study. Mark could just only watch Joseph left, sighing as he entered the study.
âSir, why do you have to make such a scene with the young master? Heâs an adult now.â
Harrison was wiping his hands. The calligraphy paper on the table had fallen to the ground, and the brush that was broken into two pieces indicated Harrisonâs anger at that moment.
âIs he an adult? He is not even a normal person with emotions and desires.â
Harrison frowned in anger, âI donât know why he would be like this. Thereâs nothing in his eyes besides benefits.â
âNot so much, the young master is still very respectful to you, and he also cared for Noah so much. Isnât the young master developing quite well with Ms. Downy now? Isnât this what you expect?â
It was instead not to mention Hayden Downey. Harrison looked gloomy again, noting her.
âNo need to mention this matter again. I have misjudged it this time.â
Mark was stunned for a moment, âSir, do you mind that Ms. Downey hasnât yet divorced her ex-husband? Investigation shows that they have been separated for a long time, and their marriage has ceased to exist.â
Although Harrison no longer involved in the business industry, no changes in Nankingâs business industry could escape from his eyes. He even knew the matter about Edison Godfery searching for partners to do promotion is Nanking recently.
After some researches, only then Harrison knew the relationship between Edison and Hayden was unusual. Edison was Hayden ex-husband, and the two were just only separated and not divorced.
But this wasnât the main reason for Harrisonâs sudden opposition. He glanced at Mark, âWhatâs Josephâs explanation to the board of directors for the loss of the project in Guangzhou?â
âThe young master said that he made a negotiation mistake.â
âItâs just his excuse.â Harrison said in rage, âIâve asked those of the Guangzhou branch, Joseph had left before the negotiations were finished that day. Do you know why? Thatâs because something happened to the Downey family. Haydenâs father, Brook Downey died of illness. And Joseph went straight to the airport.â
âItâs just... human nature, right?â Mark explained, âAfter all, the young master and Ms. Downey are in a relationship.â
âBut he shouldnât have been so impulsive like this. The weather was bad that day, and he waited at the airport for two days, just for the first flight to get back.â
Harrison was exasperated as he thought about it, and he slapped the table, âItâs nonsense.â
Josephâs nature was unsympathetic and extreme. Although Harrison always wanted him to marry and have children like ordinary people, he even worried that Joseph would involve in a complicated relationship, triggering unmanageable consequences.
The existence of Hayden had changed Josephâs humdrum life.
Mark wanted to persuade, but looking at Harrisonâs furious look, he gave up as anything he said at this moment would just be adding fuel to the fire.
On the other side, Joseph went to the courtyard where Noah was staying. He let the maid pack a few of Noahâs personal things and wanted to take him away.
Noah was having fun with Eleanor Beckham, and when he heard that Joseph wanted to take him home, he took out his small board, writing down a line, âWhere are mommy and Stella? Are they going back together?â
Seeing this, Joseph was sullen, âNo mommy nor Stella. Just you and me, just like old times.â
âNo.â Noah blurted out.
His childish and hoarse voice echoed in the courtyard.

After all, Noah seldom opened his mouth. Joseph eased up and persuaded patiently, âGo back with daddy. You have lived here for too long.â
Noah shook his head and wrote down a line instantly, âStella told me to wait here for her. She will be back soon to accompany me.â
Seeing that Noah had made up his mind, Joseph was in a black mood, and he picked Noah up from the ground, striding towards the exit of the courtyard.
