Chapter Thirteen

Uriel

Something was wrong and I could feel it. At first, I thought it was the pain in my abdomen and two of my tentacles but then I felt a shiver and knew it was more than that. I shivered so much as I felt this immediate urge to seek my mate but then I had to hold back since Aric had rejected me and went back to his father.

I ignored this coldness, fear and pain and then sat down on the couch which I found in a wrecked ship. I laid down after taking two pills to help me with my pain not that it did much, it just slowed down my death.

I saw how Sly and Rascal looked at me with worry and concern and what made them feel worst was they couldn't do anything. Rascal had even suggested I go back and snatch Aric and trick him into mating with me but I wasn't that selfish to cause cruel pain to my mate.

I was finally about to rest when I sensed someone was in my cave. I swam in the darkness to see my mate's pet that he called his friend. I think it was Flower and she gave a scared look as she slowly swam close to the darkness.

I came out of the darkness to see Sebastian behind her who gulped and then looked at me. I was confused what they needed but if it was for a wish then I wouldn't mind doing it since the curse was still effective.

"What do you want?" I asked without a smile on my face.

"Uriel we have come to deliver a message." Sebastian said like he was a fancy messenger.

"Aric knows. He wants to see you by sundown." Flower informed me as I looked at Sebastian.

"Why is he doing this?" I asked as Flower looked at Sebastian.

"We're not Aric so find out yourself. Come to the beach by sundown or Aric will come to you in his human form." Sebastian stated making me surprised.

"Did you say Aric is human?" I asked in surprise.

"Yes, after he left here, he immediately asked his majesty to make him human. He didn't want to stay home because he was unhappy for some reasons." Sebastian explained then I looked at Flower.

"You know for someone who talks about his mate a lot, you sure are slow in information." Flower said as she glared at me.

"Why did Triton allow Aric to the surface! He has no idea what he has done!" I shouted as I swam towards my potion room.

"What are you talking about?" Sebastian asked he and Flower swam behind me.

"You sent my naive, careless and daring mate into the mouth of the lion. Do you think that the human prince he admires is a good person?" I asked as they both looked at me and each other.

I took out a vial and then poured a drop on my looking mirror and then covered it before I signaled for Sebastian and Flower to come closer. They came closer and the mirror did the reverse because of the potion making us to see the past.

"I won't let Erez be King. How can I get my hands on more power Benedict?" The human prince asked the fat man opposite him.

"Well I have a suggestion." Benedict said as he gave a greedy look at Eric.

"What is it?"

"A long time ago there were three gods who were brothers. Hades, Zeus and Poisedon. Each had a realm to rule and then Hades was of the underworld, Zeus of the sky and thunder and finally Poisedon of the seas and oceans." He explained as Eric looked to him.

"I didn't ask for a fairytale. If you only want to play then get out."

"But of course not Prince Eric. You didn't let me finish. Poisedon came down into the ocean, changing his form into a merman and then rebuilt the city under there and then the merfolks who lived there accepted him as their king. Poisedon wanted something to show his strength so he created a trident that was almost as powerful as he was before he went back to the sky to reign with his brothers. His only heir took it and rules the seas."

"So where does that leave us?" Eric asked as he placed his hand on his jaw.

"It tells us that if you can get your hands on that trident then you can rule both sea and land as not just a mere man but as a god." Benedict said before Eric smiled.

"Then let's set course for Atlantica. Let me go and be a god and show the people that I am meant to be king." Eric said before the mirror closed up and then opened again.

It showed Aric's current location which was in a cell making all the fibers in my body to boil. I then looked at Sebastian and Flower who gave me a shocked look.

"I have to tell the king." Sebastian said as he turned back but I used my tentacles to stop him.

"Triton is weak and will give the trident to the human causing problems. He won't just be a king, he'll be equivalent to a god." I explained and the Sebastian looked at me.

"So we're not to tell king Triton?" He asked as I shook my head.

"Not yet till I have the trident." I responded then Sebastian gave me a suspicious look.

"I don't intend to use it to harm anyone. I'll just take it and when the moment is right, give it to Triton. All I want is for my mate to be safe." I explained then Sebastian nodded.

"OK. We'll help you steal it but the moment you go back on your words you'll lose Aric for life." Sebastian threatened then I nodded in agreement.

We slowly journeyed to Atlantica which I haven't been for sixteen years. I saw that it was still how it was but I couldn't go in there looking like this and then I was glad I prepared a potion for this kind of situation. I brought out a tiny bottle in the bag I was holding and then I drank the whole potion before I threw the container away.

I saw how all my tentacles came together and formed a tail, my purple looking skin change to an olive shade and then my new tail changed to the color of the potion, dark blue. Sebastian and Flower looked at me in surprise but I just shrugged and then we kept on swimming.

"How long have you had that potion?" Sebastian asked as we swam in.

"Before my mate's birthday. I was planning on making an appearance but the spell only lasts for a few hours." I said as we passed guards who didn't give me any look of suspicion.

We kept on heading deeper and deeper into Atlantica before I saw the palace. Sebastian had demanded we waited for sometime before we dare set tail inside before he swam inside. I looked around and decided to take a swim around to remember the palace I once called home.

"Where are you going? Sebastian said we should wait here." Flower informed me but my stare made her silent.

"I'll be back soon." I said then I swam away.

I swam around town and others who Deanne either waved at me and smiled or they just looked at me in a kind of admiration. I was glad I wasn't stopped or disturbed till I met an old mermaid who seemed to be resting by the rocks.

She seemed oddly familiar and then I sat beside her before she looked at me. She seemed sad and alone and a bit empty before she then smiled at me.

"You look oddly familiar young man." She said as I finally recognized who she was.

"Yes I think the same way too Clara." I said making her to smile.

"Is that you old friend? You look so beautiful." She said as I saw tears in her eyes.

I placed my hand on her face and she held it and gave a sincere joyful smile.

"Praise the seas that your still alive. There has never been a day I did not feel your pain since you were chased out of Atlantica." She said making me smile.

Clara was my childhood friend who stayed by my side. I knew she felt guilty since her husband, her mate, sentenced me to exile and even when she pleaded for me she was unable to do anything. The unfortunate thing was that he had died two years ago leaving poor Clara on her own.

"Now I can finally die in peace." She said making me to hug her as she let me embrace her.

I joined Flower later and just then Sebastian came out. He didn't look too happy and in a way had this disappointed look.

"We're too late. His majesty knows and will soon be leaving for the surface. What do we do?" Sebastian asked.

"I'm taking it." I said as they both looked at me.

"If Triton gives that trident to that human, I have a feeling he won't give back my mate. Call it villains instinct." I said then I headed to the palace.

"Wait! Don't think they'll let you waltz in and steal it." Sebastian informed me as I looked at me.

"Technically I'm borrowing it. What do you suggest?"

"Princess Attina." Sebastian said then I thought about it.

Attina was the closest to their father when you removed my mate and if I were to have her let me in then I could save him.

"Where is she?" I asked as Sebastian pointed far to the east. I looked at him then I swam towards the east of Atlantica to find Attina.

Attina was with two of her sisters so I just found it a bonus. I swam up to them then I waved at them.

"Hello beautiful princesses." I greeted with a smile on my face.

"Hello." They all responded.

"I've never seen you before." Attina said then I nodded.

"I am Pisces. I came to assist your father. It seems that the young prince is in a tightrope at the surface." I explained as Attina's eyes widened at that fact.

"Aric is he alright?" She asked me as she dawned closer with her sisters looking worried.

"I can't say that is why we are going to the surface. Be warned, your father doesn't want you to know but I felt like it would be wrong to keep something this important from you, being the eldest." I replied then she clenched one of her fist before she looked at me.

"I have to see father." She said then turned to her sisters.

"You will not tell the others about this. Keep it a secret OK?" She instructed her sisters who nodded.

"Let's go." She said then we headed to the palace.

We passed the guards who let me pass under Attina's order and then we entered. The palace was still the same as usual. Attina got to the throne room which was empty before she faced me and breathed out.

"Please wait here." She said then she swam away.

I went to the throne side and then I saw the Trident looking so heavy and shiny. I had used it once but I wasn't confident about the second. If I have to save my mate then I have to take it. I swam close and realized before I could touch it a kind of spell.

Of course Triton will be overprotective of his power after he gave it to me. I then closed my eyes and started casting a dark spell as I felt the magic of the barrier become weaker and weaker. When it was weak enough, I used my tail to shatter it before I took the trident.

I was about to leave when Triton and Attina came out and was looking at me. They didn't say much and Attina had this betrayed look in her eyes.

"Who are you and what is your purpose?" Triton asked as I rolled my eyes.

"It doesn't matter. I'm just trying to make sure you don't do something stupid." I replied before I looked at Attina.

"I apologize princess but if your father gives this to that human prince then you'll never have your brother back." I said before I swam away.

"Guards! After him!" Triton ordered but I wasn't in the mood to fight so I swam away quickly.

I realized my tail was starting to split meaning the spell was wearing off. I was fully transformed when Triton gave a shocked look to see it was me.

"Uriel!" He shouted as one of my tentacles throw a black ink on the floor causing it to explode and cover me.

It was already sundown and I was already at the surface. I used the trident to make me human and as usual, my white hair turned black, my purplish skin olive and I had legs instead of tentacles. I made simple pants, shirt and shoe before I took the trident and hid it deep under the sand.

"I'll come back for you later old buddy." I said as I patted the sand and then placed tiny stones around.

"Let me go save my mate with my own capabilities." I said then I walked towards the town.
