Chapter Fourteen

The Little Merman {A twist of love}

Aric

It was dark and cold here whenever it was sundown but I wasn't scared. I was more determined to escape from here. Quin was usually chosen to watch me and then he always gave me this creepy look but he never did anything.

I sat in my cage as I stared at the meal they left there. Unlike most prisoners, I was fed well but I never ate whatever was given. I had a feeling they might poison me so I always poured it away.

I was about to sleep when I heard my cage open. I looked up to see a guard entering. I thought at first that he wanted to collect the meal but then he started to open his belt before I realized what he wanted. I stood up but he pushed me down with those muscles and used his leg to hold me down.

"Well if they're going to sell you, let me make the best use of you before then." He said in excited as I struggled to get his heavy weight off me.

He bent down and pinned both my hands to the ground as he placed his knee in between mine. I felt my heart beating fast when the man suddenly stopped and then blocked from dripping from his mouth to my neck. He got off me and then he turned for me to see a sword at his back.

"Die bastard." Quin said then he kicked his body away from me.

I looked at the body of the guard before I looked at Quin who looked very angry. He went to his body and dragged it out of my cell before he came in and then offered me a piece of handkerchief.

"Take." He said then his eyes became softer. I took it from him and then I cleaned the blood off my neck.

"T-thank you." I responded then he collected it back and left my cell open.

He turned back to look at me as he picked up the body.

"Escape now. You don't belong here." He said then he left.

I thought it was a trick at first but Quin didn't look like he was going to hurt me. I stood up quickly and then ran out from the dungeons.

The palace had a lot of guards walking around but luckily I was small and I already had plans. If I could just take a servant's clothes then I could leave here for town till it is safe for me to get home.

I quickly sneaked from one room to the other avoiding guards as best as I could. I entered the servants quarters and then was about to look for an outfit when I heard someone approaching the door.

I hid under the table in the large room since it had a cover. The door opened for me to hear Benedict's voice. I covered my mouth as I hugged my body closer. If Benedict found me, he would do a lot worst than what Eric would ever dream of doing.

I heard him walk around the room before he sat down harshly on a chair. He banged hard on the table making me shake a bit in shock but I was glad he didn't hear me.

"Bloody Eric. You won't be what you are if it weren't for me. Just wait till I get that trident then I can finally settle scores with old Uriel." He said making me to widen my eyes in surprise.

"Uriel was such a cocky bastard who had powerful magic that he made me lose standing in the council. And Triton, cursed me to have feet like humans. And now Eric is demanding me to step down when he gets in power. Like I'll let a human just take my thirty years of revenge go to waste. Best part is I have Triton's youngest so killing Eric won't be a problem." He said as he aggressively tapped the table.

So Benedict used to be a sea creature or merman before he was turned human. He later stood up and then left the room. I crawled out from the table as I sighed in relief.

I took out a few clothes and then pulled off the one I was wearing. I disguised myself as a female since I could pull of the female look. I took a shawl and covered my head to my face then walked out.

A guard passed but he didn't recognize me as I walked past him. I made my way till the laundry since they washed their clothes outside. I helped one of the maids carrying the bowl and was glad glad she didn't ask any questions.

When we dropped the bowl, I gave the maids the slip and then headed to town. I ran with all strength and finally got to the town.

There was a large market so I hoped it would be easy for me to hide. I ran straight and then in a way I felt a strong pull that kept me running. I paused halfway when I looked up to see Uriel who looked more different than usual.

He was human. I smiled when I saw and ran towards him as I called out his name. I was close to catching up to him when I felt someone pull me into their arms and covered my mouth. I tried to pull off the person's hand but he was stronger.

"Didn't expect you to escape. Seems I should chain you up." Eric said before I kicked him and then his gripped on my mouth loosen.

"Uriel!" I shouted before Eric covered my mouth and then I saw Uriel turn and look around but he didn't hear me before he disappeared from my sight.

Eric pulled me forcefully to a corner before he threw me the ground. I looked at him as he squatted and held my face tightly.

"The next time you try this stunt again, I won't be so merciful." He said before he released me and then he gripped my hand before he forcefully pulled from town.

He dragged me from the town to the palace and then he pulled me to a room and then he opened it and then pushed me inside.

"Get comfortable. Tomorrow is the day." Eric said with a smile before he locked the door.

I sighed as I stood up and looked at my bruise which was starting to heal up. I sat down on the bed as I checked out how to escape but it seemed impossible. All I had to do was to wait for tomorrow and make sure that father never gives Eric that trident, no matter what.
