Chapter Five

Ariel

The human world was quite interesting. Their culture was far different from where I came from and they seemed to be inventing beautiful gizmos that they needed to make their lives better.

It was interesting helping them out but they all underestimated my strength since I wasn't as big and muscular as most of their men. The fact that I also small and young made most of the men to tease me till Sebastian snapped one of them in the nose and the butt making me to laugh.

I knew deep down that I had feminine features because even my sisters and friends mentioned it but I didn't let it hold me back from doing what boys my age do.  I spent most of my time with Eric who tried to find other ways to communicate with me.

He taught me so many things like about pen and paper and alphabet and stuffs. It's not like merpeople didn't have these things. We did but most of them were not in the language that he used to write which was English.

I got to eat a lot of their food which was so tasty but as they say nothing is better than home. I even got seaweed thanks to Flower and gave Eric but then he laughed and said that those weren't meant to be eaten when I presented it to him.

Eric was so tall compared to me. He was also gentle and then he taught me how to dance with this human feet. It was fun and I kept on waltzing along with him till we were tired.

"Wanna go on a boat ride with me?" Eric asked and then I nodded quickly before I nodded gently.

We went out to the beach and then got on a small boat which Eric offered to row. It was nice as I gently placed my hand on the surface of the water and felt how much I missed the sea but I wanted to enjoy my stay with humans.

I stood up to jump the water for a swim but Eric held me back and shook his head.

"You can't swim in there. It's dangerous." He cautioned me gently then I nodded and just sat down.

He kept on rolling when I saw some fishes swim by. I was wondering what they were doing but I didn't care and just looked at the wide ocean. Just as we passed through a grassy part of the water, I heard something like singing and then turned to see Sebastian singing something into the prince's eyes.

"Did you hear that?" He asked then I shook my head nervously as I gave an awkward smile.

"I could have sworn I did." He said then kept on rolling. I saw Sebastian serenading for us and giving me signs.

I acted oblivious and naive because people only fell in love in three days in fairytales and princesses book but I was a prince who ran away from home to pursue my dreams.

Just then I looked at Eric who smiled warmly at me and then I thought of Uriel for no good reason. I don't know why I started feeling uncomfortable but I forgot about all that when Eric held my hand and the fishes poured water over us like a kind of fountain.

🎶 Your gonna wanna kiss the boy. Kiss the boy. 🎶 Sebastian and a few fishes sang as I and Eric's came closer.

Just that moment we were about to kiss, the boat flipped over making me and Eric to fall out of the boat and into the shallow water. We came out and we laughed awkward before we returned back to land.

Eric and I were quiet as we slowly went to the castle. I waved him bye then he patted my head and rubbed it slowly before he bade me farewell as I headed up to my room. I smiled and then I saw Sebastian knocking on my window.

"I'm sorry prince Aric, I tried but it seemed it wasn't hard enough. We only have two more day what should we do?" Sebastian asked as I placed my hand on my chest and rubbed it telling him it's OK.

"But Aric two day isn't enough." I shook my head and then did a crown sign and talking then pointed at me.

"I should tell your father if you don't get him to kiss you?" He asked and I nodded. "But Aric..."

I placed my finger on his lips and smiled. I wanted to be positive and strong for what tomorrow had installed for me. Two days, just two days can help me out after all no one can resist a Merfolk charm.

Uriel

I was displeased when I saw what that crab had planned for my mate. He was pretty intelligent and romantic no lie after all he was the one that helped Triton to woo Athena.

I sent out Rascal and Sly to prevent the human and my mate from kissing by all means necessary but not to display themselves because I had the feeling that this prince intentions of my little mate was not good or pure of heart.

I then decided to make an appearance and then poured potions into my pot and mixed it as the potions did their magic and transformed me into a human but instead of a regular human, I was turned into a woman with long black curls and eyes that were a light purple. Before I did something that made the water take me to the surface.

I made clothes with a little spell and then I held onto the enchanted necklace that held the beautiful voice of my beautiful mate.

I knew that what I was doing was selfish in the eyes of a stranger but if I had to do this to protect my mate then I would because three days wasn't enough to reveal to him how disgusting humans were especially to merfolks whose beauty enchanted humans like how it did to gods and goddesses.

I started walking down the beach when I chanted something that made the necklace with my mate's voice to sing. I saw that the Prince's window open and his attention looking for the voice then he looked down at me.

I looked at him and then smiled before I waved at him. He seemed to have fallen for the enchantment but the thing was the spell I castes was just to attract a person to me and not make the person my love slave or anything.

The human came down with excitement in his face and then offered me his hand. I looked at it and then looked at him.

"What's your name beautiful?" He asked as he gave me the same smile that he used to trick my innocent minded mate.

I see why my mate was attracted to him. He was handsome no doubt with thick lashes, black hair, deep blue eyes and dimples that made him look irresistibly handsome.

"I'm Vanessa. It's a pleasure to meet you prince Eric." I said with my new feminine voice as I did a curtsey and then took his hand.

"Well Vanessa, I'd like to know you."

"But of course your highness but we can't do it out here." I informed them he nodded.

"How about we go to my palace and talk things over?" He offered and I nodded in response then I held his arm as we walked to the palace.

"I won't let you have my mate." I thought then gave a sinister smile as I looked at the ocean.
