A Bombshell Moment
Cold Brew | Lingorm
Blooming Beans Café hummed with the cozy sounds of clinking mugs, idle chatter, and the rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee. Late afternoon sunlight filtered through the windows, casting a golden glow over the café's rustic wooden tables.
At the usual corner booth, Orm lounged lazily, flipping through a fashion magazine, her manicured nails tapping rhythmically against the table. Lingling sat across from her, dressed in her usual CEO-chic attire, pretending to be engrossed in some business reports but was really just enjoying her rare break.
Behind the counter, Becky skillfully poured steamed milk into a cup, her latte art taking form, while Freen, as always, was leaning against the counter, exuding an air of effortless chaos.
Then there was Suzy.
Suzy, dramatically stirring her coffee, exhaled a world-weary sigh. "I can't believe I'm still single. Love is dead."
From the next table over, a new but not-so-unfamiliar voice chimed in.
"Sounds like a personal problem."
Suzy's eyes snapped up. "Why are you even here?"
Ying, the ever-elegant enigma, sipped her iced coffee with the ease of a goddess. "I like the vibes. And the drama. Keep going."
Becky and Freen exchanged a glance but said nothing. They knew exactly what was about to happen.
Orm flipped a page in her magazine, glancing at Suzy. "Alright, next topic, anything but Suzy's tragic love life."
Becky, with zero buildup, casually handed Freen a drink.
"Oh, Freen and I are engaged, by the way."
Silence. Deafening silence.
Lingling, mid-sip, choked violently on her coffee.
Orm's magazine slipped from her fingers and flopped onto the table.
Suzy's spoon clattered onto the saucer.
Ying blinked, once. Then again. "Wait. WHAT?!"
Becky and Freen just sat there, smug as hell, sipping their drinks. Freen, in particular, was enjoying the utter chaos unfolding before her. She leaned back, crossing her legs as she twirled her straw between her fingers.
Lingling coughed, regaining herself. "You cannot just drop that casually!" Her voice rose slightly, betraying her shock.
"Why not?" Becky said, deadpan. "We're engaged. Simple."
"Since when?!" Orm demanded, sitting up straight.
Freen finally spoke, her tone as nonchalant as ever. "Last week."
"A week?!" Orm and Suzy both yelled in unison.
"And you didn't think to tell us?" Lingling added, scandalized.
Becky smirked, placing her elbow on the counter. "It wasn't a secret. We just didn't announce it."
"Which means it was a secret!" Orm countered, throwing up her hands. "How did you even propose?!"
Freen chuckled. "Oh, it was very romantic. Right, babe?"
Becky shrugged, looking entirely unbothered. "We were at brunch. I was talking about how my fingers deserved more jewelry, and she pulled out a ring and said, 'Wear this forever.' So I did."
Lingling's face met her palm. "Oh my god."
Orm looked physically pained. "That's... that's it?! That's how you proposed?!"
Freen grinned, taking a sip of her drink. "Well, we were having mimosas. And, to be fair, Becky did say yes."
"Mimosas?" Suzy looked personally offended. "You got engaged over mimosas?!"
Becky lifted her left hand, wiggling her fingers. "And yet, here we are. Ring secured."
Ying, who had been quiet up until now, smirked. "That might be the least romantic engagement story I've ever heard."
Becky stretched her arms. "And yet, I still said yes."
Lingling groaned. "Unbelievable."
Suzy dramatically fell back into her seat, utterly scandalized. "This is so unfair."
Suzy, clutching her chest, stood up dramatically. "No. This is a crisis. A NATIONAL EMERGENCY."
Ying, amused: "Oh, this is fun. Keep going."
Suzy paced. "First Lingling and Orm, now Becky and Freen. I AM THE LAST ONE."
Orm, smirking: "Damn. Can't relate."
Suzy dramatically collapsed into a chair. "Even Ying is out here with options! But me? NOTHING. JUST ME AND THIS COFFEE."
Ying raised an eyebrow. "If you're that desperate, I can take you on a pity date."
Suzy, horrified: "I'd rather die alone."
Lingling, muttering to Orm: "Why do we associate with these people?"
Orm, watching the chaos: "Because it's entertaining."
Lingling sighed but raised her cup. "Fine. Congratulations. Even if your proposal was painfully on-brand for you two."
Orm shook her head. "I still can't believe it. But... congrats, I guess."
Ying smirked. "Guess that means Suzy's officially the group's spinster."
Suzy scowled. "I hope all of you trip in your wedding dresses."
Becky grinned. "We love you too, Suzy."
Freen, looking mischievous: "Hey, maybe your love story is next."
Suzy, sipping aggressively: "Doubt it."
Becky and Freen exchanged a look.
Becky, smirking: "Oh, by the way, the wedding? It's in six months."
Collective gasps.
Lingling dropped her cup.
Orm almost fell out of her chair.
Suzy, deadpan: "You know what? I give up."
