Cold wind danced in the air, making it colder than it already was. The full moon hanging in the sky glowed beautifully with clouds draping it. The sound of footsteps on the white snow kept Elektra and her friends company as they made their way to Conradâs tower.
They had parked a few miles away from the building to avoid unwanted things to happen. Henry, Blake and Angela were with her, accompanying here for this quest.
Alfred couldnât come with them, as he needed to meet the Elves elders and ask them for help to defeat Magnus and his clan. He informed her the name of the drug, Reahient. He also described to her how the drug looked likeâ a colourless liquid, which was no help at all to be honest. However, Alfred did point out that they would label them since theyâre colourless. No idiot wouldnât label their drugs.
Since she was going to Conradâs tower, she commanded Luke to lead the army. Everything had been set up. The army were informed about the drugs and following the actual plans with a slight modification of it and they will attack when the time is right. They would be there soon, probably when theyâre in the building. She knew that a few of them were already here to keep watch and inform them if thereâs anything unusual and if Magnusâ army is on the move. She had given them each a telecommunication device, which was an earpiece with a microphone that were easy for the to carry around and move with it. They were ready and very much prepared. Everyone was geared up and was ready to fight.
Elektra had her sword with her, a gun placed in a holster tied on her left leg. She also had equipped herself with her new creation, the magnetic glove that attracts her swordâs grip. She would be okay, at least she hoped so.
She had left Darcy with Angela in the lair. Since it was probably the safest place they could ever hide right now, she told them to stay there until she gets back. That isâif she gets back.
She was nervous, worried and scared. She had always hated being scared. It was a feeling she wished she could get rid off but it was impossible to destroy it. Henry always told her that being scared was a part of living. Not being scared is equivalent to not living at all. Being scared doesn't make you weaker but stronger. You are stronger knowing that you are scared of something and you would do anything to prevent whatever you're afraid of from happening.
Her thoughts faltered when her feet came to a stop as she took in the huge grey building in front of her. The Conradâs tower was big, painted in grey with tinted windows on it. Even the main entrance was tinted. She observed the building and her curiosity lead her to speak.
âIs the main entrance the only way of getting in the building?â She asked Blake who was walking next to her, suited up in body armour and armed with a few knives placed in their sheaths on his left hip and a handgun on his right.
He didnât argue when she told him that he needed to wear a slick black body armour that her dad created with the special force a long time ago. It was a little bit big for him but it wasnât a huge problem. The armour was made easy for the person who wore it to move around and fight. She had no doubt that he would be fine on his ownÂÂ but stillâ she just wanted him to be safe.
âNo, there are three entrance for this buildingâ the main entrance, the backdoor and the emergency exit. The backdoor also has the biometric security system and the emergency exit will ony open if the building is in deep crap.â He told.
He placed his hand on the biometric scanner and a few seconds later, the door slid open, letting the warm air hit their faces. They walked into the building cautiously, their hand on their weapons, getting ready if there were any attack. They found that the hallway was empty and quiet.
The inside of the building was pretty much the same as any office buildingsâ white tiles, boring white walls exceptâ bigger, filled with advanced technology, and the smell. It smelled like a hospital, maybe due to the chemicals.
âArenât there guards here?â Elektra asked.
âWell, I gave him the night off.â Blake smiled. âDo you need a blueprint of the building or something?â He asked Angela.
Due to her being a sorceress, Angela was able to see the path towards the lab that Magnus had been using. She called them visions. However, she could only see the path when she was near the place.
âNah, this is fine.â She said as her eyes suddenly glowed, golden like fireflies before returning to her normal blue eyes.
âItâs this way." She said, leading them to the destination.
Elektra could feel herself getting even more nervous with every step. A sudden hand slipped in hers. She didnât need to look at the owner, she knew who it was. The slight gesture made her nerves calmed down a little.
They came to a stop in front of the elevator. Angela looked confused. Her eyes glowed again and she pushed the button to call for the elevator.
The elevator door then opened. They followed Angela in before the door closed. As they were in the elevator, Angela made no attempt to press the button available and it raised curiosity among them.
âThereâs a secret entrance.â She said, making her way to the back of the elevator. Her blue eyes turned gold for a moment before she placed a hand on the cold metal wall and pushed it.
The metal wall turned out to be a door as it opened, revealing the secret room.
âWow, I certainly didnât explore this place enough.â Blake said.
âWell, it only opens with magic though. So, even if you do notice it, you canât open it.â Angela replied.
They entered the secret room one by one, their weapons ready in their hand. Henry was the one who entered first. Due to his speed and senses, he was able to check the place as the others entered the secret room.
Elektraâs eyes came into view of the room. It was quite dark. There were a few table lamps that helped lighting up the room. There were huge tables arranged in rows with a lot of science instruments on them. Grey stones were the roomâs walls and ceiling. It was literally a cave and it was huge like her lair but darker.
âOkay. Split up. Find the drug and destroy it.â She commanded. They gave her a brief nod before splitting their ways to search for the deadly drug.
Elektra wandered around the lab. She was looking for the drug but that wasnât her main task. She was looking for something, more like someone to be exact. She searched the place, every available corner and checked for any secret room but found none. She came to the fact that she would never find him. Her father wasnât here.
Her thoughts were interrupted when she heard Henry called out for them, telling them that he had found the drug.
When she reached Henry who was standing behind the table located at side of the room, everyone was already there.
âThis is it.â Henry said, nodding towards the syringes that are placed in its own cylinder shelf on the metal table. There was a paper stuck to the table that wrote âReahientâ. There were three shelves of syringes that contains the drugs and she concluded that none of Magnusâ army was given it yet.
The heavy feeling in her chest lifted off and just as she was about to take the drugs, she heard footsteps and the sound of a gun being cocked.
They turned towards the entrance and found the devil standing there with a sly smirk on his face. Two men stood next to him, leaving him in the middle with a gun pointed at Angela.
That's odd. Why did none of them sense them? She assumed that maybe Magnus casted a spell that made them unable to sense them.
âWell, wellâ I thought you would never find this place.â He snickered, walking towards Angela before giving them a deadly look. âIf you want your witch to live, step back.â
Henry growled, the eerie and angry sound echoed in the dark cave. Elektra quickly grabbed his hand, stopping him from marching towards Magnus. She gave his hand a gentle squeeze, which made him stop and snapping him out from his rage.
By now, Magnus was holding Angela. He spun her around to face them, his arm wrapped around her stomach and his hand holding the gun that was pointed to her temple.
âOh, I sense thereâs something going on here.â Magnus said, eyeing Angela and Henry curiously. He stared at Angela, his chin on her shoulder and his lips nearing her cheek.
âYou moved on, I see. I thought you loved me.â He whispered though everyone heard it.
With disgust clear on Angelaâs face, she replied, looking at him straight in his eyes. âYou were a mistake.â
An angry look crossed Magnusâ face. He slammed the bottom of the gun to her cheek. Elektraâs eyes went wide and her whole body froze. Henry was squeezing the life out her hand and she could feel Blake growing tense beside her as well.
âMind your mouth, slut. Do I need to remind you that thereâs a gun pointed at you?â He snarled.
Angela clenched her jaw, her eyes fuelled with fire but remained silent. Elektraâs mind was working ways to save her but she couldnât find one. The nervousness, worry and fear werenât helping her as well. She needed time.
âRelease her, Magnus. Itâs not her that you want. Itâs me.â She spoke, her eyes on him showed no fear.
âOh, I want her, you see.â Magnus said, kissing Angelaâs cheek roughly, which made her stomach churned and Henryâs hand squeezing hers tighter. âShe was the one who killed my ancestor anyway.â
âCome on, Magnus. It doesnât have to be this way. Whatâs past is past.â She pleaded.
Magnus laughed, almost maniacally. His head thrown back, his laughter loud and his eyes closed. His laughter died down as he shook his head with a psychotic smile playing on his lips. His smile suddenly dropped. His eyes dark and menacing.
Glaring at her, he snarled his words out. âYou think that Iâm just going to forget what both of your ancestors did to mine? They ruined her! And Iâm going to make sure you are going to suffer from it. I will make you suffer. I will hear you scream and I will kill you. I wiped out the past Protector before and Iâm sure Iâm going to kill this one.â
Elektra froze. Her heart felt like there was a hook pierced through it and pulling it to the bottom. Her stomach felt as if she had been punched there a million times. She couldnât breathe. She was suffocating.
âW-What?â She breathed out.
The look on her face must have given him pleasure as he smile cynically. âOh, you didnât hear me Protector? The Protector before you, yeah, your dadâ I killed him.â He said nonchalantly.
Suddenly she didnât feel so strong anymore. Her knees were going weak and she couldnât breathe. His words kept playing in her head again and again.
I killed him.
âEla.â Blake called, his hand pressed on her back. Her sadness didnât disappear but anger came to her like a tidal wave and she was lividâ furious. Her eyes were flaming with rage, her hands on her sides clenched tightly as she stared at her fatherâs murderer.
âYou son of a bitch! You monster!â She roared.
Tears pooled in her eyes but she refused to let it fall and let Magnus have more fun with her pain.
Henry grabbed her arm to stop her from attacking Magnus. His gesture reminded her that Magnus was holding Angela and had a gun pointed at her.
She stopped but that didnât mean her anger vanished.
Magnus stared at her, finding happiness in her pain. âIâm surprised Alfred didnât tell youâ¦seeing that he knew.â He said.
It was as if today was the day all bad things were going to happen to her at once. Alfred entered the room and stood right next to Magnus. She looked at him, searching his eyes like a desperate puppy, hoping that there was an explanation to this but his eyes were blank and his face was unreadable. He had done it. Simple. No excuses. Nothing.
She wanted to scream at him but her words came out agonizingly. âI trusted you. He trusted you.â
Alfred said nothing but look at her as if he had done nothing wrong.
Magnus didnât need to kill her. She was already dead.
âYou so-called friend here helped me with a lot of things.â Magnus ranted, patting Alfred's back proudly. âEspecially with the drug.â He grinned at Alfred before turning to Elektra.
He kept on ranting about what Alfred had done but Elektra wasnât listening to any of it. She took Henryâs hand in hers and squeezed it twice. She lifted her head to look at him who looked confused for a moment but realization soon flashed in his eyes. Elektra turned to Angela, who noticed the interaction she had with Henry. Elektra tapped her foot and wide-eyed Angela got the message.
Magnusâ rant stopped when Angelaâs foot smashed his violently. He screamed in pain, the grip on his gun loosened. The gun suddenly flew to his face, hitting him right on his forehead. Angela took the opportunity and ran away from him, turning to Henry and grinned.
âI forgot he could do that.â Magnus grunted.
Chaos soon started. Magnus charged at Elektra while his two henchmen attacked her friends.
Drawing his sword from its sheath, Magnus struck her violently. He fired vicious counter attacks on her, which Elektra was able to block. She managed to get a glance at the door and saw Alfred left the building in a hurry.
A sharp pain on her shoulder brought her concentration back to her opponent. She hit Magnusâ sword away before lunging at his torso. He tried to avoid it but her blade managed to leave a nasty cut. His shirt ripped and blood started to ooze out from the wound that she had created. Angrily, he swung his sword but she blocked it and kicked his wounded torso.
The force made him stepped a few feet back. He charged at her again and managed to disarm her. Her sword dropped on the floor. As he was about to swing his sword, she swiftly grabbed his arm, swinging her body as she climbed up his body. With her thighs wrapped around his neck, she used her weight to bring him down to the floor.
She stood up, stepping a few defensive steps back and called for her sword. The sword returned to her hand as she was about to attack him but Magnus got up quickly, swinging his sword at her.
She blocked his vigorous attempt. Seeing the chance, she stomped on his foot before punching his wounded stomach.
Magnusâ back landed on the table where the drugs were and somehow, he lost his footing and brought the drugs down with him, scattering on the floor.
He reached for the syringe that was next to him but she stopped him, stepping on his hand. He screamed out in pain. Immediately, he pulled her foot with his free hand and she fell to the ground.
Elektra quickly reacted, trying to get rid of his hold on her foot. She managed to kick his face a few times, which made him let go of her foot.
She scurried and stood up, thrusting her sword towards Magnus. Howevert, she failed when a strong force of air hit her as she fell to cold floor.
She winced as she sat up. Her eyes spotted Magnus who exited the room hastily with a syringe in his hand.
The sudden sound of gunshots were heard and she turned her head to the direction of the sound. One of Magnusâ men had his gun pointed at Angela and she was holding her stomach. Her stomach slowly was covered in red.
Before the man could shoot her again, a knife flew and landed on his back. The man fell to the ground and she looked at Blake in awe as he ran and pulled his knife from the dead body.
Snapping out from her daze, she stood up and quickly went to Angelaâs side. Her head was resting on Henryâs lap and her face was etched with pain as blood oozed out from her stomach.
âShe was shot twice. We need to stop the blood.â Henry spoke with worry clear in his voice. âThe bullets are out.â
âThereâs a first aid kit near the guardâs office.â Blake said as he stood.
Before he could go, Elektraâs hand on his stopped him. He looked at her and she gave his arm a gentle squeeze. âBe safe.â
He smiled and nodded before running off, leaving the room. Elektraâs attention returned to Angela. Sweat covered her face and her eyes shut in pain. How she wished she could stop her from feeling the pain.
âAnge, you need to drink my blood.â Henry spoke, his hand clutching hers tightly.
âNoâ¦Donât.â Angela protested weakly.
Elektra could see how worried Henry was. His eyes never left Angela as he pleaded her. âIf you donât drink my blood, you wouldnât make it tonight. Youâll have to stay here.â
âDonât be ridiculous.â Angela coughed out.
Henryâs brow furrowed deeper. His head hung low before he placed his forehead on their clutched hands and sighed desperately.
âPleaseâ¦just do this.â
The sound of desperateness was clear in his voice. Elektra knew what was going through in his mind at the moment.
Hearing his torn up voice, Angela agreed to his request. âFine.â She said.
Instantly, Henry placed his wrist on her mouth and tore his skin. Blood spurt out from it and he placed it on Angelaâs mouth. She drank from him before Henry pulled his wrist away.
âUghâ¦blood tastes weird.â Angela coughed.
âYeahâ¦but it saves your life.â Henry replied just as Blake arrived with the first aid kit in his hand. Elektra took Henryâs place and allow him to tend Angelaâs wound.
As Henry was tending to Angela, Elektra turned to Blake who staring at the injured woman on the ground.
âAre you okay?â she asked. Her eyes searched him for any injuries.
âIâm fine.â He replied, meeting her eyes with a small smile. âI contacted Luke and he said theyâre already outside. I suppose theyâre have started the attack.â
When Henry was done with tending Angelaâs wound, they got out of the room and headed back to the main entrance. Just before they got out of this building, Elektra turned and faced her friends. She needed to do this. She couldn't go out there without doing this.
âI love every each one of you.â She said softly. âAndâ¦and if I donât make it tonightââ She held up her hand as Henry almost interrupted her. âIf I donât make itâ take care of Darcy and take care of each other, alright?â
She could feel tears welling in her eyes as they gave her a nod with mournful look on their faces. Henry stepped forward and pulled her into a bear hug.
She felt him kissing the top of her head as he stroked her hair gently. âI love you, little one. Youâll be fine.â
âDonât you dare die, Henry.â Elektra spoke as she pulled away, looking at him with seriousness in her eyes.
Henry could only chuckled and smiled forlornly. âIâve lived too long.â
âI need you to live. Live, Henry. Be happy.â
âI will, only if you wonât die as well.â
She grinned. âIâll try my best.â
Turning, she looked at the sorceress that had been destined to be with her in this journey. They had only met but it felt like she had known Angela for centuries.
âAnge, you have to be okay, alright? You donât get to die. Not here. Not yet.â
Angela shook her head in response. âTo protect you, I wouldnât mind. Iâm supposed to die anyway.â
Sighing, she met Angela's warm blue eyes. âListen to the Arthurâs descendant, Merlinâs heir. Please.â Elektra pleaded.
With her eyes set on hers, Angela chuckled. âYou know me Arthur, I never listened.â
Elektra could only sigh and smiled in response. Her friends were always the best part of her. She just wished she didn't have to drag all of them into this.
Warmth seep into her hand, interrupting her thoughts. She turned to meet those eyes that she loved so much. Those beautiful autumn leaves coloured eyes. She would always remember them.
He sighed heavily, looking at their entwined hands. His hold on her hand tightened before he met her eyes again.
âDonât die.â He breathed the words out painfully.
She couldnât take it anymore as she grabbed his face and kissed him passionately. His arms soon wrapped around her, holding her tightly, closing the distance between them, so that he wouldnât forgetâ he would never forget how it feels like to hold her and kiss her.
âCome back to me.â He whispered, placing his forehead on hers after they broke the powerful kiss.
She smiled, touching his stubble cheek and caressing it with her thumb before gazing at those deep mesmerizing eyes.
âI always will.â
