24 | new date

Another three weeks have passed since Jax came by at the flower shop and we haven't seen him ever since which is a good thing I guess. It probably wouldn't help me to forget Isaac when I'd see his best friend every day.

These past couple of weeks I regularly talked to Aiden, who was a friend of mine in high school and who I share a few classes with. Today was one of those classes that we share and when I got to the room I saw him sitting there already so I sat down next to him.

"Hey Em I brought you coffee" he said with a smile when he saw me sitting down next to him and passed me a cup of starbucks coffee.

"oh thank you so much you didn't have to do that" I said as I smiled thankfully as I grabbed the cup of coffee anyway.

"I just thought you'd need this for this lecture because Mr. Morrison is the most boring professor I know" he answered and I had to agree with him on that. I love most of my classes and thing they're pretty interesting but Professor Morrison has the ability to make the most interesting topic sound boring.

"I was wondering if you are free this evening" Aiden asked all of sudden and I looked at him surprised since we never met outside of med school.

"You mean like a date?" I asked unsure.

"I mean it doesn't have to be one we can meet as friends too" he said and rubbed the back of neck nervously. Am I ready to go on dates with a man that isn't Isaac? I mean it's been around two months since we stopped talking and I have to start getting over him at some point so why shouldn't I start now? Aiden is one of the nicest people I know so nothing speaks against him.

"Sure I'd love to go on a date with you" I heard myself reply to his question causing him to smile.

"That's great. Does 7pm sound good to you?" he asked and all I could do is nod because I was still thinking about whether this was actually a good idea or not.

A few hours later I find myself sitting in Aiden's car all dressed up for our date. We're on our way to a small restaurant that is not too over the top because he wanted our date to be a little more chill which I'm really thankful for because I don't want it to be serious just yet.

"Is you brother still as protective over you as he was in high-school?" Aiden asked with a small chuckle not knowing the story behind everything that went down between me and my brother.

"He's in jail now" I answered straight forward. I'm not afraid to talk about my past anymore because I realized that it's not my fault like I thought a few weeks ago.

"oh wow okay I didn't expect that answer. What did he do? If you don't mind me asking of course" he said and seemed quite embarrassed to have initiated such a conversation on our first date.

"he sexually assaulted me" I answered truthfully and Aiden's eyes widened.

"What? I'm sorry to hear that you don't deserve to experience that. No woman does" he replied and you could tell that he actual felt sorry and meant the words he said.

"Yeah he started to assault me when I was really young. I guess you can say that he was kind of obsessed with me which is the reason why he was so overprotective of me in high-school. He didn't want me to get to close to any other boy"

"Wait he assaulted you in high-school as well? How the hell didn't I notice that? I could've helped you if I knew" he said starting to blame himself.

"You couldn't have known. I talked to no one about it even my dad and Myra didn't know about it. They found out a few weeks ago when Isaac helped me out of the situation" I replied and his name slipped out of my mouth before I even thought about what I was saying.

"Who is Isaac?" Aiden asked curiously at the mention of another man's name

"He is- was a friend" I said not knowing what else to say.

" A friend or like a boyfriend?" he asked again.

"We we're kind of dating but it was difficult so we just stopped talking" I replied and looked away.

"You're in love with that guy aren't you?" Aiden asked catching my full attention. I just stared at him.

"You can be honest with me Emilia I wouldn't be mad at you if you were in love with him. I just want to before I get too close to you without you having the intention to feel the same for me" he said.

"I'm not sure but I think I do love" I answered truthfully with a sad smile because I felt bad for Aiden and also for me, knowing that Isaac doesn't feel the same towards me.

"Then go ahead and tell him" he said like it isn't a big deal to confess your love for someone.

"It's not that easy! He told me to get out of his life"

"He'd be stupid if he actually meant that. Look at you! There's no way he could not love you. So go!" Aiden said with a laugh.

"But what about our date?" I asked not fully processing that men like Aiden exist.

"You're fun and all but we wouldn't have worked" Aiden said and I raised my brow.

"And why's that? You didn't sound like that a few seconds ago" I said with a teasing smile knowing that everything between us is cool.

"You like dogs more than cats and I can't tolerate that" he said with a dramatic hand gesture and I rolled my eyes at him.

"Excuse me? Dogs are way better! Cats always look like they're thinking about killing you"

"That's not important right now! Where should I drive you to so that you can tell your prince charming what you really feel about him."

"You want to drive me to his house?" I asked shocked.

"Yeah your're my new bestie. Even though I don't accept what you just said about cats. That really hurt my feelings" he said as he stood up and placed a hundred dollar bill on the table.

"You're the most dramatic person I know" I said as I walked beside him towards his car.

"I'll take that as a compliment" he said and opened my car door for me before I got in.

.....

"Tell me how it went once you get home or if you need a ride home just call me" Aiden said and I nodded and thanked him for everything before I got out of his car and stood in front of Isaac's house.

Aiden drove away shortly afterwards whereas I stood outside of Isaac's house for a good five minutes before I built up enough courage to actually walk towards his house to talk to him.

I rang the doorbell and stood there for a minute without him opening the door for me. Maybe he was asleep and it was a sign to tell me that I shouldn't be talking to him.

I waited a couple more seconds before I proceeded to turn around to walk away but then I heard the front door being opened and the sound of Isaac's voice calling my name.

"Emilia?" he asked shocked and I turned around to look at the man my heart desired to se for the past few weeks.

So I just got back from Prague and let me tell you it was a very interesting trip in many different ways
