Chapter 944
Mission To Remarry
Chapter 944 Answering The Call Outside Roxanne shut the door and gave Madilyn a call. It took a while before Madilyn answered. âRoxanne?
Didnât you go camping? Is there something you need?â
It seemed pretty noisy on the other end of the line, so Roxanne asked, âWhat are you doing?â
Madilyn sounded pained. âDonât mention it. I was forced to work overtime again.â
As soon as she said that, the noise increased. Before Roxanne could say anything, Marilyn hurriedly added, âI need to get back to work. Iâll call you later.â
She then hung up right away. Roxanneâs gaze turned dark as her phone screen dimmed. She didnât call Marilyn back. After a brief hesitation, she tried calling Larry.
Larry picked up pretty quickly, but he was in another state and couldnât be of help in time. Roxanne didnât tell him anything despite his concern. She dismissed him with a few cursory words and hung up.
There was no time to explain things. Besides, she didnât want to trouble them further. As her friends couldnât be of help, Roxanne couldnât stop panic from rising in her heart.
At the same time, Archie observed her side profile and recalled the two calls she made earlier. He could somehow guess their current situation.
Mommy must have tried to ask for help but failed. With that thought in mind, Archieâs expression grew grim. âDaddyâ¦â Estella was groggy from the pain, so she instinctively sought comfort.
Hearing his sisterâs voice, Archie had a thought in mind. He sneaked a look at his mother outside the car. Roxanne was scowling unhappily.
A brief moment later, Archie looked away and called Lucian using his smartwatch. In Farwell Group, Lucian was seated in the conference room, his face devoid of expression. A group of managers was sitting in front of him.
Herbscape Groupâs acquisition was a success, so it was time to plan their collaboration with Queen Group. They had been holding meetings for the past two days to discuss this matter.
When the meeting was about to come to an end, Lucianâs phone suddenly vibrated. The conference room descended into silence as everyone turned their attention to the vibrating phone.
Lucianâs brows snapped together. He grabbed his phone and was about to reject the call when he noticed the caller ID. Archie? Why is he calling at this hour? Didnât they go camping?
âMr. Farwell, should I continue my presentation?â the manager who was presenting asked sheepishly.
Lucianâs gaze swept over him. âGo on.â
Hearing that, the manager nodded and did as told.
He had barely said a few words when his CEO interjected, âStop. I need to take this call outside.â
Lucian was still worried, so he cut his employee short and strode out of the conference room without hesitation.
After watching him leave, the others in the conference room shared a look.
Previously, work was always Lucianâs top priority.
During meetings, if someoneâs phone were to ring, kicking the person out of the conference room was considered a light punishment.
No one knew Lucianâs phone would ring when he was in the middle of a meeting one day.
The matter had happened more than once recently, but their CEO would head out to answer the call every time without fail!
They couldnât help but wonder who the person on the other end of the line was.
Outside the conference room, Lucian answered the call with a frown, oblivious to his employeesâ
thoughts.
âMr. Farwell!â Archieâs voice rang out the moment the call connected.
Lucian thought he might be hearing things as Archieâs voice seemed to be trembling.
