Chapter 1083
The Untouchable Ex-Wife
âYou even had⦠children together?â Stefanâs heart was filled with mixed emotions. His expression turned darker with time.
It wouldnât be reasonable for him to be upset. After all, they were just a married couple with children, which meant this was none of his business.
Even so, he felt inexplicably bitter after hearing about âtheir love storyâ regardless.
Oh god, Stefan Hunt, canât you be a little normal for once? Donât you think itâs ridiculous that youâre paying so much attention to a woman you havenât even seen? This is an insult to Seraphina and an insult to yourself!â he thought to himself.
âHmm, I mean, the guy might be a jerk, but our kids are adorable. So I donât regret falling in love with him.â Renee told the truth this time, despite her previous attempt at making something up.
She could obviously tell that Stefan looked as upset as someone who just found out they had been cheated on. However, he was still suppressing the negative emotions, replying coldly, âThat means youâre lucky. You should bring the kids over to play sometime.â
âHmm⦠That reminds me, youâre their uncle! Doesnât that mean you need to give them gifts?â Renee held in her laughter, challenging the manâs patience even further.
Td really like to see how long he can keep this act up!â
âHeâs clearly mad, but heâs still pretending to be calm and elegant! Is he not tired?!â
âUncleâ¦â Stefan repeated the word slowly, somewhat feeling like he wanted to punch someone out of anger as he spoke.
Hah, even a lunatic like Jovan gets to have kids?!!â
âOkay, okay, donât be too envious. Once your eyes are healed, youâll just need to focus on spending the rest of your life with Seraphina Murphy. I believe you should have kids within a year or so,â Renee rationally advised Stefan, bearing the heartache all on her own.
âOnce his eyes get better, he will return to his position, once again becoming that almighty figure that he used to be. And who else would be his best support but the Murphys?
âHe will marry Seraphina and have his own kids, all while reaching the peak of his career. As he enjoys life to the fullest, I will leave his life for good and write my own story someplace else.â
âThen weâll finally be able to get out of each otherâs hair, never crossing paths ever again. This is the best ending that I can ever hope for.â
âThatâs right, Seraphina and I are rather in love. Iâm sure our children will be perfect as well,â Stefan replied proudly, following her blessings.
Renee fell silent. Enduring the pain, she could only bite down on her lip and lower her head. âIâm not sad⦠whatâs there to be sad about? This is what Iâve wanted from the start!â
Suddenly, the two stopped talking to each other, turning the atmosphere rather awkward.
Reneeâs mouth remained shut, thinking. âFine then, donât say anything. Itâs not like weâre going to give in any time sooner. If thereâs nothing good to say, we might as well just shut up. We wonât be able to hurt each other then.â
âHey, those apricots look ripe! Let me go get some.â The woman looked for an excuse to escape the awkwardness and ran toward the middle of the garden.
The vast sanatorium garden was exquisitely littered with various flora and fauna. A while ago, the mangoes had ripened, and the apricots were now starting to yellow as well.
The apricots looked rather juicy, and they were about the size of an egg. As hundreds hung from the tree branches, there were just so many that it almost seemed impossible to harvest them all in one day.
Renee used a branch to stick her hair into a bun, then rolled her sleeves up before getting to âwork.â
A few minutes later, her pockets were filled with several apricots. Under the shades of trees, Reneeâs lovely face was painted in a soft layer of red, making her look exceedingly adorable at that moment.
She chose the largest one she could find and wiped it on the edge of her shirt. Excited, she bit down on the fruitâ¦
âHoly sh*t, this is way too sour! Itâs like my teeth are going to fall out!â The womanâs expression twisted deeply.
She took a glance at her pockets full of apricots. Her frown was soon replaced with a sly smile.
Hehe, I canât possibly enjoy such âgreat stuffâ alone! Sharing is caring. After all, Stefan should totally get a taste of it!â she thought.
