Chapter 1128
The Untouchable Ex-Wife
The prison guard asked Leia.
âIâm fine,â Leia answered coldly as she wiped the blood from the corner of her lips with her sleeve.
âGet ready. Someoneâs here to see you.â
Leiaâs numb gaze flickered slightly. Her eyes lit up a little but turned dull very quickly.
She knew that she was entrapped now and no one could save her.
Leia got ready before she went to the visiting room with the prison guard.
âRen, youâre back?â
She saw Renee at a glance, so she ran to the iron door agitatedly.
âLei, I came back too late. Youâve suffered a lot.â
Renee also rushed to the iron door and looked at Leia, sobbing.
They were only separated by an iron door. However, they could only see each other through the narrow window.
âWhatâs the matter with your eyes? Why are your lips chafed?â
Renee sensitively noticed that Leiaâs eyes and lips were injured. So, she became anxious and shouted, âHey, my friend is hurt. Where is the doctor? Get the doctor to come see her!â
âShush, Ren. Donât worry. Iâm fine. Itâs normal to get bashed up in here. We finally meet. Letâs chat a bit.â
Leiaâs hands were handcuffed. She spoke with a tone of urgency as she held the iron railing with her slender fingers.
She knew that the visiting hours were merely thirty minutes. If the doctor came to inspect her, she would not have much time to talk to Renee.
âLei, tell me. What happened? Why did it turn out this way?â
Renee raced against time and questioned Leia.
She had to learn what had happened before she could find the breakthrough point and help release Lei.
âI canât blame anyone in this. I was too impatient. When they threatened me, I reacted with agitation.
Besides, that place is a construction zone, so his head was impaled by nailsâ¦â
Leia wiped away her tears and said with despair, âI think he wonât be able to live since the back of his head has been nailed and Iâve become a murderer.â
âDonât worry. You didnât do it on purpose. It wonât be that serious. I have the best lawyers. They have ways to save you. They can do it.â
Although this would make Renee seem unprofessional in the legal industry, she knew that she had to save Lei, no matter how high of a cost it might incur.
This was simply too harsh a place to stay.
âRen, donât blame yourself. You saved me and my brother. So, I donât regret what I did. Even if I traveled back in time, I would do the same thing.â
âLei, stop. Regardless, I wonât let anything happen to you. Iâll save you even if I have to blow this prison upâ¦â
The women cried profusely from both sides of the iron door. They were overwhelmed with their deep grief. The anguish and pain in their voice would immediately be felt by whoever heard them.
âAhem, twenty-nine, get ready. Youâre freed of all charges and are free to go.â
Suddenly, the prison guard knocked on the iron door and said to Leia expressionlessly.
âWhat? Did I hear it right? I can go now?â
Leiaâs eyes were still full of tears. She could not believe what she had just heard.
It was because she had just learned the news that the person she accidentally pushed over died this morning after they failed to save him. Logically speaking⦠she would be imprisoned for three to five years. Why was she freed of all charges of the blue?
