Chapter 1183
The Untouchable Ex-Wife
Renee walked into Stefanâs office, led by a secretary. It had been so long since she last came here, but everything was still the same⦠except the man opposite her.
Renee stared at him, and sadness filled her. He was standing in front of the large French windows like he used to, his back as straight as an arrow.
âWhat are you doing here?â Stefan turned around and shot Renee a cold glare, looking hostile and unwelcoming.
The secretary glanced at Renee, and suggested hesitantly, âMr. Hunt, I can show Miss Everheart around if youâre too busy. We can come back after youâre done with your work.â
Inwardly, the secretary was grumbling, âWhy is Mr. Hunt behaving like this? Theyâve been married for a long time, but he doesnât show his true feelings for her. He deserves it if Mrs.
Hunt runs away!â
Stefanâs face turned livid as he turned to the secretary and growled, âGet out.â
âI apologise for intruding,â Renee said and bowed her head slightly, about to turn around and leave.
Stefanâs eyes turned steely, and he said through gritted teeth, âI asked her to leave. You stay.â
âOkay, I wonât disturb you and Miss Everheart.â The secretary held back her laughter as she walked out of the presidentâs office and gently closed the door behind her.
A group of nosy staff had been eagerly waiting for her in the corridor.
âHowâs it going? Are they going to get back together?â
âAlthough itâs been ages, the former Mrs. Hunt is obviously still the most suitable for our president. Miss Seraphina isnât compatible with him at allâ¦â
âForget it. The president is so unpopular right now, especially since all the bad things he did in the past have come to light. The former Mrs. Hunt might be better off away from him!â
âThatâs right. She can lead an independent life happily without him!â
The onlookers in the corridor behaved like they used to, and argued endlessly about whether Stefan and Renee would get back together.
Though so much time had passed, it was as if nothing had changed.
Meanwhile, a deep silence had enveloped Stefanâs office. The man in question was now seated at his desk with one leg crossed over the other as he twirled an expensive pen between his fingers nonchalantly. He sized Renee up and asked arrogantly, âAre you here today to make peace⦠or to declare war?â
Renee raised her brows, and scoffed, âSince youâre so clever, Mr. Hunt, why donât you guess?â
âIâm not interested in the thoughts of irrelevant people. However, since youâre bold enough to come here alone, Iâm guessing that hostility isnât on the cards today.â
âWell, youâre wrong,â Renee sneered and showed him her wrists. âYou know, I really want to beat you up right now, but my conscience is telling me not to act rashly.â
âOh?â Stefan smirked. âYou and your brother ruined my reputation overnight and I didnât say anything about it, but now, youâre trying to shift the blame to me?â
âThe truth will always prevail.â Reneeâs gaze turned cold with hatred. âYou did something terrible to my brother, so you shouldnât be surprised if people find out about it.â
âThatâs true, but itâs not honourable.â Stefan kept twirling the pen as he smiled lightly. âHave you ever wondered if what you heard is really the truth?â
Renee narrowed her eyes at the man. âWhy donât you tell me if it is then?â
