Chapter 124
The Untouchable Ex-Wife
Stefan blinked at Liam, dumbfounded. Naturally, he couldnât answer. Although he and Renee had been married for four years, he could count the number of times theyâd dined at the same table. Even when they did, he never really paid attention to the food she liked.
âI donât waste time on pointless things like that,â Stefan scoffed arrogantly.
âPointless things?â Liamâs playfulness instantly disappeared, and was quickly replaced by rage L âThatâs right. A cold-blooded reptile like you will always be selfish. Why would you ever think of someone else?â Liam wasnât afraid of making Stefan angry. In fact, he would have loved to teach Stefan a lesson with his fists instead!
âYou know, I feel sorry for Ren. She poured her heart and soul into the relationship. She knows that you like mild-flavored food, not spicy food. She also knows you like your steak cooked medium rare, and learned over a hundred ways of cooking steak for you. Unfortunately, her thoughtfulness and efforts were just a waste!â
Liamâs harsh words caused Stefan to frown slightly. He subconsciously glanced at Renee, trying to figure out whether it was true.
However, Renee stared straight ahead with a blank expression. âLiam is partially right, but heâs also partially wrong. Mr. Hunt is much more cold and heartless than I am. Youâre all people I care about, and thatâs why I remember what each of you like. I donât think that informationâs a waste. I guess from now on, Iâll just have to remind myself not to invest in the wrong people,â Renee said sweetly.
Before Stefan could respond, Grandpa sighed deeply, his head hung low. âChild, I know youâve suffered a lot. I shouldnât have tried to force you two to get back together. From now on, just be with Liam. Heâs a reliable kid, and he can make you happy.â
Renee instantly sighed in relief. Thank goodness Grandpa wasnât going to force her and Stefan to get back together anymore. She had Liamâs spectacular acting skills to thank for this. If she was Grandpa, sheâd have chosen the bright and positive Liam over the cold and indifferent Stefan too. Stefan should just stay far away from her!
Renee wanted to commit fully to the act, so she interlaced her fingers with Liamâs as she told Grandpa sincerely, âThank you for being so supportive, Grandpa. Donât worry, Liam and I will be just fine.â
After dinner, the old man unwillingly saw Renee and Liam off. Suddenly, the large house was quiet again.
âAh, what a shame!â Grandpa kept sighing after Rence and Liam left. When he saw Stefan reading a magazine on the couch as if nothing happened, he was furious.
âAre you actually reading a magazine? Some young buck just stole your wife from you! How are you so calm?â
Stefan looked up coldly. âWhat am I supposed to do? Cry and beg her to come back?â
âDonât even think about it!â Grandpa let out a frustrated huff. âI can tell you really donât care about Ren.
Ren gave so much in the marriage, but she received nothing in return. Itâs better that you two go your separate ways. Donât disturb her⦠I think sheâs better off with Liam.â
âIâm glad you understand that,â Stefan replied tonelessly. He continued reading his magazine, no emotion on his face whatsoever. It seemed that Grandpa had finally accepted the fact that he and Renee were divorced. He could finally have peace for a while.
But⦠could he really not care about Renee at all?
