Chapter 1265
The Untouchable Ex-Wife
Renee shook her head, her eyes teary. âThat doesnât matter anymore⦠I just want him to wake up safely.â
After this incident, Renee had realized that oneâs appearance didnât mean anything. Being beautiful or ugly made no difference, as long as they were healthy.
âDonât be so pessimistic. If the doctors say that heâll recover, then he will,â Haze comforted her. Others always flattered him given his identity and status, so it was rare to see him console others. Doing this much had already exhausted him, and if she continued mulling over it, he would become depressed.
Renee took a deep breath and wiped away her tears before she forced a smile onto her face. âDonât worry, Iâll be fine. Iâm stronger than you think, so you donât have to rack your brain to figure out how to console me. I know it doesnât come naturally to you, so Iâll try to be more optimistic.â
âWell, I guess you found me outâ¦â Haze scratched his head and chuckled awkwardly. âIâm not good at consoling people. Iâm afraid Iâll say the wrong thing and make you mad eventually.â
âNo, you did great, and I appreciate that⦠Thank you for caring so much about my brother. Doctor Cromwell is very skilled, and Iâm sure Quinton will get better if he treats him.â
âUmm⦠As someone who is trying to court you, have I progressed any further in winning your heart?â
Haze swallowed and waited anxiously for her answer.
âYou canât stay serious for too long, can you? How am I supposed to answer that?â Renee frowned at him, looking perplexed.
âDonât mind me, just answer honestly. Iâm stronger than you think.â Haze looked at Renee imploringly, desperate to know the answer.
Renee knew that she could not fool him given how serious he was, so she thought about it for a long time. âEr⦠Three percent. Yeah, three percent.â
Hazeâs eyes brightened. âThree percent? I thought youâd give me a negative score, but it looks like my hard work is finally paying off. Iâll get a hundred percent as long as I keep working hard, I donât care how long it takes. Where thereâs a will, thereâs a way!â
âYou⦠Youâre so weird. Itâs just three percent. Arenât you mad? Why didnât you say I was ungrateful?â
Renee didnât want to give him hope, so she was about to say zero.
However, if she did that, he might not believe her, so she gave him a low number instead to make him give up.
Normal people would understand the implication when they heard that number, and might even feel humiliated, but Haze looked surprisingly smug. âSilly, three percent is very high for me. You used to beat me up every time I expressed my admiration for you in the past, but this time, you didnât hit me, and even gave me a score of three percent. It proves that I have a chance, so why would I be mad? I should be celebrating!â
Renee was speechless. She didnât know what was so good about her that made him so obsessed with her. As expected of people who wrote codes-as long as they had their minds set on a type of software, they would keep on running it even if there were a lot of bugs. They were indeed crazy.
âUmm⦠Since I managed to get three percent, can I ask for a small reward?â
