Chapter 1401
The Untouchable Ex-Wife
The person standing before him was none other than Adieâs scumbag daddy.
Ugh⦠but it seemed like he wasnât really a scumbag at all.
âWhy arenât you answering?â Stefan studied Adie intently, then his features relaxed. âOh, I know.
You havenât learned how to talk, have you?â
Rolling his eyes, Adie thought, âWell, thereâs definitely something wrong with his brain. No wonder he needs surgery. Iâm almost five years old, so how can he think that I still canât talk?â
âYou shouldnât go around alone if you canât talk, or else your parents will be worriedâ¦â Stefan reached his hand out to Adie, and ordered softly, âIt isnât safe there. Come here.â
However, Adie glanced at Stefan briefly and ignored him as he bent down and picked up the flowers on the ground.
âAh, it seems youâre autistic too⦠Youâre cute though.â Heaving a long sigh, Stefan glanced at Adie compassionately. Although he was usually quite aloof, he had a soft spot for children and furry animals, and would instinctively want to get close to them.
Suddenly, Stefan felt rather melancholic. Renee had two children, but Stefan had none even though he was almost in his thirties. That made him rather pitiful, didnât it?
âArenât you scared?â Stefan wanted to go but was worried about leaving Adie alone. He told Adie patiently, âCome with me. Iâll take you to your parents.â
Adie finally picked up all the flowers and tied them up into a bouquet again, sweating and panting.
When he found that Stefan was still there, he stared at him suspiciously and asked, âHave you really lost your memory?â
âSo, you can talk?â Surprised, Stefan smiled. âYouâre a pretty interesting kid. I think youâre harder to handle than most adults.â
âI asked you a question. Have you really lost your memory?â Adie ignored Stefanâs teasing and asked Stefan urgently. He needed to know the answer.
âHow did you know?â Raising his brows, Stefan questioned Adie curiously.
âBecause you donât know me,â Adie replied naturally.
âShould I⦠know you?â Stefanâs curiosity grew as he stared at the strange little boy.
âYes, you should⦠but I wonât force you if you donât want to.â Shrugging, Adie said indifferently, âAfter all, itâs the same whether youâre around or not; youâre just an ornament in our family.â
âAhem!â Puzzled by Adieâs words, Stefan said to him, âTell me who your mother is. I donât know you but maybe I know her.â
âRenee!â Adie shot Stefan a disdainful glare. âDonât tell me you donât know my mother either!
Whether you lost your memory or not, youâd be a scumbag if youâve forgotten someone so important to you!â
âRenee?â Stefan snorted and smiled sarcastically. âWell, of course I know her. Sheâs the reason why Iâm staying here. Do you see the mark on my neck? She nearly strangled me to death.â
âLet me see!â Adie walked over to Stefan and stood on tiptoe to inspect the purple bruises on his neck. After that, he nodded solemnly. âMommy was pretty harsh but⦠you deserved it because youâve betrayed her.â
